Are you Aaron Burr sir? Hands down one of the most unique living spaces we have toured on the channel! Comment what your favorite feature and if you would pay $10,000,000 for a piece of NYC history.
I would pay this is beautiful Erik every tour for the last couple of months you have had beautiful homes tours but I can’t help but notice I don’t know if you noticed but the last couple of tours the homes or apartments have white oak floors or cabinetry I love it 👏🏾
Very enjoyable vlog, Erik! The re-use of damaged beams for the shelving was a very nice touch...and, of course, love the exposed brick. Over all, super well done reno! I could definitely live there even without a city view (though I'd have a daily view of the NYC skyline while living in my $135,000,000 dream apartment by Hiroshi Sugimoto at 432 Park Avenue). A question regarding the Burr house: why didn't the renovators make usable space on the roof? A suggestion: obtain an oil painting of Aaron Burr (perhaps an original done during Burr's lifetime) and hang it by the front door of the "garage." Include it in the sales price to make up for no usable roof space.
Beautiful house but some major functionality issues, the glass wall next to the master bed that opens to a staircase just seems like a terrible lack of privacy. Also, the rainfall shower in the soaking tub seems like a good way to get water everywhere
I was thinking about waking up from a nightmare and thinking you see someone standing on the stairs and staring at you lmao. It's a cool feature but I don't think I could ever be comfortable knowing that I'd be so exposed!
How are you meant to have sex in your bed when the kids are coming up the stairs and glancing in at you through the window? What are these people thinking?!
you have to update to a modern kitchen, but leaving the beams and the old bookshelf would've been cool, should've left the red paint on the exterior as well. Love NYC buildings wit some color!
They did a good job restoring the outside facade but they took away a lot of the original charm of the inside-the only thing they kept seems to be the exposed beams. Such a shame to lose so many of the original architectural details.
@@amphibien8264 it’s awful. I understand sometimes original features can’t be kept because they aren’t compatible with modern plumbing/wiring/HVAC, but seeing historic interiors transformed into a cookie-cutter modern condo is really sad.
Man I liked the before exterior so much more. That beautiful red and window doors… Aw man, the interior before, too. :( it had SO much more character on the kitchen main level.
Yeah all the wood being removed and surfaced refinish on the ceiling took the soul out of the "historic" look. I like the new look but I also liked the old look because of its history. People in the US are so quick to do away with the old.
Sunken fire pit is a huge minus for me. Just steals space with the railing and the stairs. You could've made it level to the outdoor space with skylights and would've had the same natural light in the "garage". On the inside it just looks weird with that one "support beam" in the middle. Poor design imho.
LOL, there are so many "features" that architects love but people who actually live in homes quickly realize are absurdly impractical. *Only* open shelving in the kitchen? No pantry space or easily accessible cabinetry? (As far as I can tell, there isn't. When the camera swings around to show the whole kitchen there's nothing there opposite the island, and the only cabinets are beneath the counters.) Those admittedly gorgeous 200-year-old beams won't look quite as chic when filled with groceries like Bumble Bee tuna, Rice Krispies or Fruit Roll-ups. Or even the billionaire equivalents. And others have commented on the ridiculous glass wall that displays the master bed to anyone, including kids. I can handle the "all eyes on me" patio, because any outdoor space in NYC is wonderful. But the whole house is a big fishbowl. I dunno. You've got this fantastic historic figure associated with the property, but the building itself looks as if it's been dropped down from a spaceship flown by a planet of Industrial Modern-worshipping aliens.
Didn’t like the kitchen design either, no pantry small fridge and why could I see power points. At a property at this price point that’s just sloppy. I like the idea of the large window in the master bedroom room to let in light, if it was one that can frost over at the flick of a switch.
I like how open shelving looks but it’s so impractical! First off, where do I put my plates and glasses and everything? Having enough storage in a kitchen is vital and believe me, without upper cabinets, everything is going to be cramped. And even if you can make the open shelves work, then you’ll have to clean them every week and that’s just a terrible waste of time. And why on Earth is there a window to the staircase in the master’s bedroom? And don’t even get me started on the shower.
Compared to other NYC apartments on the channel, this looks surprisingly functional. However, I believe the lack of privacy makes it more suitable for semi-commercial purposes. Still, for 10mil, it's a steal ;)
@ Jan Klosowsky ...just use a little imagination ...huge white linen-sheets, spread all over the outside terrace, as a roof and sunshade, like you are in greece or south france outside, in a restaurant, by the ocean...know what I mean? like this, no neighboors would be able to see anything..additional, lots of plants that grow high all around the fence and "et voila" 🙂
With each room shown I paused the video and I imagined what I’d put in it and how I’d live and move around in the space. 😍 What an amazing dwelling! Wonderful job showcasing this home Mr. Conover. 👏🏽
Setting aside it being insanely expensive, I can totally see this be appealing to a person who has a self run art gallery where he sells expensive pieces but not a lot..like very customized expensive type work…so works a lot and just wanna come down his workshop

that fire pit , what if it rains or snows heavy , #drainage .. also all those windows looking onto the back part straight into the living area is a hard no and then that glass wall was such a modern idea but in reality is a hard no.
What an awesome House!!! My only gripe would be the master bedroom with the see through wall. Was that acrylic or glass coming up the stairs? Maybe there’s a way to hang a curtain or pull down blinds? Otherwise, the home is quite beautiful 😀👍🏾!
It's a beautiful house, but I think that it had more charm and personality before. Is agree but if you can afford this house you can probably replace the glass with a solid wall.
They took a beautiful historic home full of charm and unique character and turned it into another boring white box, great job!
lol
@@erikvanconover They left a few brick walls in there by accident, but I'm sure they can go back and cover it up with a big Jeff Koons or something
To be fair it was originally a carriage house not a home so I doubt it had a lot of historic details you would have in a house.

@@MercuryRisingFast yes, saw it later when he said it. But yeah I get it:)
I have the fear of that fireplace in the centre being flooded if it ever rained really badly

The exposed drainage pipe running down is a really crude solution to that problem. 10mil for exposed piping
