Note, no matter how much hardware you buy you can't go faster then you are paying your provider for. Note: your network will only ever be as fast as your slowest link, make sure your router, network cable and the devices you are using are at least rated for the speed of your internet plan and that your have adequate coverage for your living area size. (Always use a wired connection when possible)

Internet technician here, thank you for basic troubleshooting. Most customers are completely brain dead and can’t even tell me where their modem is. But yes hardwired ups your speeds but more importantly minimizes latency. If you’re running wireless I would suggest moving your modem across the room from your pc though, on a higher shelf. Being too close will cause more issues and will interfere with other devices in your home that are past that point.
I practice the principle of "what is stationery doesn't require wifi". Yes you will get a bunch of cables running every (or use your electrical wires through ana adapter if you wanna be fancy) but no latency problems, perfect internet where you need it. A question: would fiber cable be even better or will I end up running in to other bottlenecks?

Using 5ghz band instead of 2.4ghz band will speed up the wireless speeds. Also making sure the channel your access point is using doesn't overlap with neighboring access points helps too.

You don't need wifi on your motherboard though. There are tons of cheap usb / pcie wifi + bluetooth cards you can get. Not utilizing ethernet when you have the option is stupid, this guy definitely did the right thing.

id recommend tallying your total time over 6 months or whatever time period you have an averaging it out per week
