Hey brother, i was in the same boat as you i was going to school for computer engineering at a good school and would have been projected to make 6 figures+. Now i live in a single wide trailer working as an emt and firefighter. I am also working on a welding company of my own. I could not be any happier im on a pescaterian diet of eating only meat i harvest myself while mushroom hunting / foraging for most of my meals. This is the most healthy ive ever been. The only difference is i realized this stuff at 20 not 38. When i did clinicals, the doctors and nurses were the most unhappy ppl ive ever met in my life. When your ready to work again, try blue-collar jobs or even become a wildland firefighter so you can protect nature. The best feeling I've ever had was putting out forest fires and protecting our ecosystem. Keep on keeping on, brother.

It seems you are going through a burnout phase of your life, as I am too. It's not depression, but you are seeing the problem without really having a long-term solution. Comparatively, someone fresh in the field, like Caitlin Clark in basketball, plays her heart out. But after 10 years of the same game, it's not the same passion you once had. I don't know what the solution is. I decided I might like to take up drawing birds, maybe using watercolors. It's something new, so there is a new passion for what you are doing. I think a big part that bothers me is when I help someone, the appreciation is not there or ever expressed, which contributes to my overall feelings of burnout.

    • @klee88029
      @klee88029 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@opticalmixing23 The "solution" is to accept change, go with the flow, follow your passions as they emerge, and always being open to the doors that open to us. Because picking one "career" at very young age that we are supposed to commit to no matter what for 40+ years, looking for guaranteed financial security as well as personal satisfaction for decades is a human made lifestyle, totally blocking us from discovering our multiple talents and unlimited opportunities that life has to offer. The EMT original poster is not in any mid-life crisis. Those only happen when we have not been true to our highest self and have ignored our music within that makes our soul's leap with joy to be alive another day. 🧓

Vegetables and fruit are essential to your health, meat only is an extreme and that always ends badly, we need balanced nutrition, plants have soooo many curing and health preserving substances, you are depriving yourself of those.

Hi friend, I feel like we've had similar paths away from clinical medicine. I'm also a millennial MD with a dog child, and had similar feelings of moral injury. Other factors for me were disillusionment after my group was bought by a private equity, the high stress nature of the job and taking poor care of my health, and probably the largest component was having a "midlife crisis" regarding the fragility of life/mortality after the death of a few work colleagues in their 30s and 40s (the issue of suicide among medical professionals is completely swept under the rug). So I quit and ended up landing in a nonclinical job where I make less than half as much as I did previously, but am much happier and healthier (as a bonus, its mostly WFH so I can hang out with my dog all day).
I wanted to end by quoting one of my favorite poets, Mary Oliver, who often writes poems with a reverence for nature:
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
Best of luck to you, Doobie, and your partner!

The irony I found your channel. I have been completely bedbound post Lyme disease 2017. Bathes by volunteers in bed since 2019. Lost ability to walk etc. I have been abandoned and very traumatized by medical system bc I don’t fit into their model. Patients like me aren’t supposed to exist and if we do it’s supposed to be psychosomatic and if a psychiatrist rules that out, then you are mostly on your own. And often other things as well. No home health, no disability, I’m kept alive by volunteers.
So, I came to entirely trusting the system to ultimately being broke by it. But, I found that gold seeps through the cracks and I have found ways to stay alive and keep myself stimulated. One, is by finding nature channels. I miss nature immensely as I’ve only been moved by ambulance to and from since 2019.
    So, thank you.
You may have left the surgeons room but you are actually assisting some of the most unwell patients you couldn’t help while in office.
    Immense gratitude ✨☀️🌊🤍

hey, I'm heartbroken by your comment :-( but I wanted to encourage you :-) I felt like Jesus was showing me about you that the name Rose is actually very significant in your life :-) also, I think you have some pain in your right shoulder that Jesus is healing? but Jesus is going to send you the gift of the Holy Spirit from the father in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the coolest thing he ever told me was that there "meaning in everything" :-) so that means the color of the clothes you wear and your username and the things in your room all of it means something! It's like a whole language that God has given us! And I will be praying for you! And if you know anything about faith healing it's basically just a matter of time before it happens! So don't worry about your faith! I can do it for you! :-) Best thing I can advise is to continue to repeat the words that Jesus taught "anything is possible to him who believes" and if you just keep praying and believing that over yourself, that's basically what I would do with you!! And I know it works! you're amazing and such a strong person! please make a youtube channel too on your journey! :)

Hi there, unfortunately my case was treated with ppis, benzos and ssris during first years when Lyme was missed and instead diagnosed as anxiety.
My body was simply giving off sos signs and needed assistance battling a very intelligent system of infections.
Unfortunately, I’ve developed allergies and anaphylaxis too many antibiotics. Although, in truth not that many were tried on me. For instance, when I was hospitalized and lost ability to walk suddenly, I was sent home by neurologist after 2 days and told to find infectious disease dr in my own and do outpatient therapy. That took another month and by then my system had collapsed even further.
I often wonder what would have happened if my case was taken seriously right away and treated with the correct medicines I needed. But, I had no way of knowing what I had in beginning and obviously drs didn’t either.
I now have an unknown seizure disorder and this has affected mylenation of my central nervous system, motor function, ataxia, loss of some reflexes and severe autonomic nervous system gi bladder respiratory dysfunction and motility issues.
I’m in quite difficult waters at this point. Still my family and I try to get me assistance. Recently volunteers just transported me via medical tarp to Cleveland Clinic. But, the neurologist didn’t seem to fully know what’s going on and I was sent home. Told I need more testing and drs in future months but each ambulance or medical transport ride is $380-$900. And no, insurance won’t cover many of these transports even with drs filling out form. It’s hit or miss. No one wants to hospitalize my case to get to bottom of it more, and gasping for air as my o2 drops to low 80s each turn in a car laying flat on my back… becomes very tough on your body after awhile. Takes longer and longer to recover from. Not to mention bladder and GI not working for days after car rides and too much movement and temperature changes.
Anyways, thanks for the love and concern.
      Somehow, someway I tell myself.

Thank you for your story and for this video. Love this stream sound, reminds me when we use to swim in the creek behind our house when I was a kid. Hope you come across birds too, they’re beautiful and joyous.

Just a thought but, if you could record a video like this continuously for 6+ hours, at 60fps, where it's a full recording instead of a loop, it might be a really great immersive experience that gives a sense of the passage of time as well. Would require some external battery thing to support recording for that long, but it would be quite unique as a result.

What's greater than finding a "nature sounds/ASMR" channel also attached to a real person with a pure soul, sweet dog, and cool vlogs on the side. I'm still in the stage of needing to build and prove myself in the world as I approach 30. But ultimately I want to fade into nature and water just like this, when all is said and done lol. If you do get back to a softer grind, maybe something related to nature, or preventive and integrative medicine?

Hey, Doc. I understand your struggle. Surgery is not additive, as you had said. It often does not fix the problem.
I invite you to visit my clinic in St. Louis. I'm a chiropractor that deals in disc derangement regularly. We strengthen the body and help the body heal itself.
I'd recommend looking at the decompression research coming from Norman Shealy, another well educated neurosurgeon. He came to the same conclusion that you did - surgery doesn't work.
His protocols have resulted in a 91-93% success rate.
Your mind is great. You are great. You can still help. You just had the wrong tools.
