      If the ball is hit outside the stadium and the ball gets severely damaged because it hit something, they can opt to get another ball. However the replacement ball must have approximately the same amount of overs balled with it as the original ball that was being used. Eg. I grew up in North America but I’ve been an avid cricket fan my whole life because of my upbringing….it is probably also the reason why I love baseball too…Happy to help if there’s anything regarding the rules or the terms used in the sport that may require clarification…Just FYI…The swinging deliveries are always mentioned with the referenced batsman being right-handed. Therefore, it will always be the opposite direction for the left handed batsman, without actually changing the name of the delivery itself.
    This is also how spinning deliveries are named…a leg break and off break delivery is in reference to how the ball spins after bouncing when bowled to a right handed batsman. A left handed batsman understands automatically that it will bounce in the opposite way for them.

    Great analysis. The one thing I will add are field placings. Sometimes subtle shifts in the field can being about a dismissal. For instance a captain might take out a midwicket and place them on the deep square leg boundary. The batter thinks that a short one is coming and gets onto the back foot.Another option is to look to get a single in the gap where midwicket was. Instead it's a fuller one at the stumps that is driven with the weight not properly transferred into the shot and edged onto the stumps.

    Latham very much should have been able to see that that ball was not an outswinger from the way that Starc was holding the ball. Starc was making no effort to hide his seam placement as he ran into the wicket, and even if he had, as an elite batsman, Latham should have been able to note during Starc's delivery stride that Starc was not holding the ball to deliver an outswinger. I think it's most likely that Latham, in the split seconds before the ball whizzes past him, saw that a wobble ball was coming, but a wobble ball from Starc is about the least predictable ball in cricket so there was little better that he could do in preparation for that ball than what he did here. I suspect that Latham knew it was a wobble ball, decided to trust to hope and shoulder arms - in other words, thought he'd keep his bat high, rather than to leave his bat in a position where the ball could come off it for a catch - only to see late that the ball was indeed honing in on his stumps, at which point he tried to defend, only to be, extremely understandably, too late.

The line compelled him to play & he was slightly late getting his bat down with his feet stuck on the crease, creating the 'gate' between bat & pad. The wedding band will only very lightly rest on the ball if at all when gripping it for spin purposes. It's either your wrist or your thumb and the parts of your three middle fingers between the knuckle and fingernail that does the work.
      That said, any kind of strapping or bandaging (including a simple Band-Aid) is not allowed on your bowling fingers for that very reason.

Wobbled seam uses split fingers with one finger on each side of the seam, instead of the usual grip which has the fingers next to each other. What i luv most about Starc's bowling is how much of a tease he is. He deliberately asks and tempts a top order batsman to play shots. Purely attacking mindset. Sometimes it costs some sxtra runs and is expensive, but thats the secret to getting the big name wickets.....get them playing shots to a newish ball. He's still brilliant to watch.

    bouncing a ball on the dirt/grass deletes any "pitch strategy" whatsoever! no control of a bounce!

    • @goodshipkaraboudjan
      @goodshipkaraboudjan 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They actually have quite a lot of control in where it bounces to. Hence spin bowling is a whole thing itself, it's especially nuanced given the variation in the pitches (the actual ground) themselves. If it leans to spin then the team select more spin bowlers and if it doesn't they go with more pace bowlers. Shane Warne was the king of spin, he could make that ball bounce in whatever direction he wanted.

    • @cricketexplained8526
      @cricketexplained8526 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not correct. If it is bounced "short", it will get up higher and closer to a batter's head. That is strategic and not random. Balls bowled at slower pace will often bounce differently and that can be used to get a batter out as well. Landing a ball in a worn part of the pitch can exaggerate the deviation and that gets used strategically too.

    • @stackhat8624

      its just not any sort of dirt/grass. It is a 22 yards of curated field called the pitch. There is literally a team of people who look after the pitch. It is quite complex and involved in the preparation of the pitch.
