Yeah, the trick with the chair moves is to hit the lip of the chair on the other lip, and miss the guys head completely. It'll be really close, but your goal is to miss the guys head. I think with Edge being on the ladder, not having the right angle, etc caused him to miss the chair shot in the worst way possible.

Eddie's death was really quite tragic, It was talked about in a show called Dark Side of the Ring during an episode talking about another wrestler Chris Benoit. Chavo Guerrero (Eddie's uncle) starts by saying that Eddie would pass out in the middle of a conversation they were having and found out that this happened in other situations as well. After checking in at the hotel they were staying in at Minneapolis, Chavo got a call from the front desk in the morning saying that something was wrong with Eddie and a security guard says that he didn't answer his wake up call. They go to his room and Chavo finds Eddie face down in the bathroom as if he was about to brush his teeth and he shakes him and cleanes his face and Eddie is just gurgling and passes in Chavo's arms. He was 38

The chair shot to the head on the ladder was an accident. The wrestler is supposed to hit the chair below their opponent with the chair they're holding, making a big noise but actually slightly missing the person. Because they were on a ladder and couldn't set up as perfectly as they would have liked, he actually got hit.

@@soylencer I would argue there is much more that went into that accident.
First your talking about a PPV match so they are going harder than they normally would so higher adrenaline as well as greater fatigue.
This would be done later in the match and probably done in a recovery period after a good bit of action (Recovery period as in they will use slower paced parts to help build suspense while giving the wrestlers a moment to catch their breaths)
Next you need to consider Edge was standing on a ladder, it's not the easiest thing to do normally, now add in the big movements so your footing is not that stable let alone the ladders will shift with that kind of movement.
It is a delicate thing in the best of conditions let alone what was going on there. Still respect both of them.

Mick Foley ear loss was half the story. Before the match one of the wrestlers said the ropes were slack, they weren't, but the officials tightened them anyway. One of Micks signature moves back then was to flip around the rope and be in like a hangman position. He was being actually hung though so he forced the ropes over his face, causing the ear to tear.

I was born without the "hair" cells in my airs that transmit sound and I have gradually become deaf over time as more and more of those cells disappeared. People ask me all the time if I had an injury to my ear without understanding that it's inner-ear issues that cause deafness. They do have ringside medics, and they do their best, like in an MMA fight, to decide how bad an injury is. For better or worse, they're not really supposed to get injured at all, but considering the contact, they're not getting their heads knocked in like in boxing or MMA, and that means you can't always see the injuries if there's not broken skin or something bent the wrong way or nobody seemed concussed.

I recently started watching Vice’s docu-series Dark Side of the Ring and though I’ve never had any interest in pro wrestling, it’s definitely given me a lot of insight into the controversies and darker aspects of wrestling. If anything, it’s at least allowed me to recognize more of these people instead of just knowing the “big ones” ie Undertaker, Stone Cold, John Cena, etc.

1:18 This match took place in Germany under WCW. The other wrestler, Vader, wasn't the only factor playing into Mick's ear getting ripped off. They had previously done a maneuver where Mick tumbles over the top rope and gets his head/neck twisted up between the 2nd and 3rd ropes. At that point he's hanging on the outside of the ring with extreme pressure on the sides of his neck. Another wrestler had complained that the "ropes" (WCW used elevator cables covered in rubber) were too loose and had been tightened earlier in the evening, now causing Mick to become trapped and begin passing out. He (rightfully) panicked and managed to push his head through the ropes. Tearing his right ear most of the way off in the process. Regardless of whether he knew it or not at the time (he didn't), on with the match.

Hey Dr Mike! One of your videos in the last month or so helped me out when we had a friend come over. He was dropped off by the police, refused to go to the ER, but had earlier in the night been hit in the head with a champagne bottle. You mentioned if their face/head gets swollen it’s sort of a good thing because if there’s no visible swelling, it could mean the swelling could be in their brain. The guy was likely concussed, as we had the same conversation of “oh I recognize you, what’s your name again?” twice in about a two minute span (I DID urge him to go to the ER) but he so far seems to be doing well. I know you would be screaming at him to see a doctor but when you’re poor, sometimes you have to be able to determine life threatening things vs taking care of things at home. Either way, I appreciate you for reminding me of some things I learned in anatomy and pathology classes. If he had no swelling in his face and head, I would have dragged him to the ER because of the information you provide in your videos but to this day, he’s happy and healthy. ❤

I remember first learning about Strabismus a few years ago. I briefly researched it because for reasons unknown to me, I can direct my left eye to dart outward while staring forward with my right eye and vice versa. I assumed it was so form of esotropia but when I asked the eye doctors I saw at the time, they just told me I have loose muscles in my eye. I don’t know whether or not it’s true considering I’ve never experienced any injuries or had any developing traumas to give me the “ability,” it’s just something I’ve always been able to do since childhood.

You talking about the incarcerated bowel with no blood flow reminds me of an emergency surgery I needed in February. Turns out I had a 10cm teratoma that caused an ovarian and fallopian tube torsion. I'd love for you to cover this in a video! My husband still doesn't understand the incredible pain I was in and how serious it could have been had I not gone to the hospital when I did. I had to have surgery on a Monday morning instead of being on a plane to Vegas for vacation with him. And holy mackerel, the pain AFTER surgery was worse than the pain before surgery. The pain you're in from how they position you on the OR table, the pain from the gas they inject into your abdomen and even the neck pain from being intubated is crazy! I felt like someone pushed me down a concrete staircase and then beat my whole body with a metal baseball bat! They pulled the teratoma out through an incision right below my bellybutton and I never knew your bellybutton could hurt so bad!!

There is some missing context in this for Mick Foley losing his ear, at least how it's presented in the video.
They, Mick Foley and Vader, are wrestling in Germany. Mick goes for the "Hangman spot", a stunt where he goes over the top rope but gets his head tangled between the top and middle ropes. Normally, there would be enough tension to give the appearance of him being choked by the ropes, but still enough room to breathe. Unfortunately the crew responsible for assembling the ring over-tightened the ropes on the ring that night, and when he goes for the spot, he is legitimately being strangled. So as the officials and medical team try to pry him out from the ropes, his ear gets sinched in between the ropes, and the ropes tear his ear mostly from his head. They continue the match, and you see from there how his ear is ultimately torn from his head.

The "conchairto" on the top of the ladder probably would've been fine on the ground. Edge wasn't high enough on the ladder to get the right angle of the chair shot to hit the chair behind Christian's head rather than his head itself. Brutal move that is rough to get just right.

Not only did he manage to survive but miraculously he returned to wrestling and wrestles to this day, although he does so in a much more ground-based style with much less risk, especially to his head.
