Had the technique and vision of pirlo and the fluidity and grace of zidane. He was called maestro for a reason.

My all-time favourite. And he hurt my team (Ireland) on occasion! Even his movement was a level removed from any other player. It seemed as if he was gracefully skating on ice while everyone else trudged through grass. Viva Il Maestro. 💚

Most underrated 10 I've seen playing. I remember back then wen Serie A was at its prime, everyone else was doing Hip Hop. Him and Zidane were doing Mozart. If you watch closely, Pirlo's passing technique is very similar to Rui Costa's. But perhaps his dribling wasn't as sophisticated/pleasing to eye as Zidane's. I believe that's why in 2001 he went to Milan and Zidane to Madrid. What a treat it was back then, watching these 2 bossing over other great midfielders - seedorf, edgar davids, pavel nedved, veron, simeone..

The unique player artistic skilful and a visionary .He was the fusion between Zidane and Pirlo .He the same ability as the two but more speed and directness with exuberance. They say Zidane was elegant but was because he had to do for the lack of speed pretty much like Pirlo but Rui Costa had the same finesse and the only difference was that Zidane went to Madrid where the marketing and PR of players are on a higher level and Pirlo moved from Milan to Juventus also helped him to cement their names while Rui Costa Benfica and Fiorentina did not give him that much of a visibility as they are not scudetto winning teams...
My all time favourite in the midfield.

@@tiga5209if he was French German or Italian in the era that he played he would be more widely touted as one of the greatest of all time, but not only that, he would have won an international trophy the further bolster his reputation.

@Honeybarbecuepumpum during that time, even though Portugal did have some great players, the competition was also very difficult against the likes of France, Italy, etc. So i get what you mean, but I will say Portugal still had a decent team back then and right now they have a lot of good players as well. It's not fsr fetched to say they can win the WC, either this upcoming one or a future one considering the trend of talented players they have been producing.
