I always find myself at this time of the year when there is to much to do and not enough hours in a day. I just got to keep going and try to just get it all done. Nobody knows when the weather will break and turn for the worse. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the race....

Archie cannot you get something to compress the sawdust into pellets for people with pallet burners?

Big outlay and I would like to concentrate on the firewood side. Plus I already get an an income from the sawdust

How about using sawdust mixed with vax to make firestarters .
You will then be utilizing a waste product to make a sales product.
Been following you for some time now, and think you're doing a great job. :)
Regards from a expat living in Norway.

Nice idea but a lot of work and would need to be dry sawdust. We already get paid for sawdust via bedding

@@oakfarmfirewood You had to lay you're mate of this spring/summer, so you have the time to do it then, plus you can have a few large vented bags with sawdust to dry in the kiln, and have standing til you don't have so much work.
I would think the markup is a loot higher than firewood.
If you look after the pennies, the pounds will look after themselves.

I have brought 800 odd boxes of firelighters and they will last me a long time. Let’s say I only sold 800 boxes a year it would take a long time to pay back a briquette machine or a machine to make firelighters

@@oakfarmfirewood You can sell them online in your merch store, and you wont need a machine, all you need is a heat resistant tub than you can put in the kiln when you try wood, fill it with sawdust and wax and mix with regular interval.
When the sawdust have absorbed all the wax you can either fill it in smaller tubs for heating later, or empty all in to brick forms.
Best thing is probably to fill smaller tubs for heating later when you got time to fill it in forms.
You can empty smaller tubs when it's cool and harden, and store the tub shaped bricks to when you need them, so you can use the tubs as many times as needed.
So all you need is some heat resistant tubs, and som brick forms.
You can even use muffin or ice cube forms if you don't want to spend to much money on custom forms to begin with. :)

With the amount of sawdust you're producing, is a briquette press a viable option? Or is there too much contamination of bar oil? Guess it's good burner fuel?

I sell sawdust for animal bedding. Sawdust needs to be under 15% moisture for briquettes and I tend to process timber a lot wetter than that
