"Curren’s near-mythic first waves at J-Bay, his paradigm-shifting Fireball Fish session at Bawa, his famous hand-jive exit at Backdoor-all interlaced among 38-minutes of fast, powerful, and technical rail surfing that transcends time." Surfers Journal June 2022
"You know what held it together was Sonny's personality. He had this way of cheering people up when they were not feeling so good. So that's what he was able to do: look at the hilarity instead of the hassle." -Tom Curren.
"We were inspired by our opportunity to be given this glorious pathway, and there was no Surfline. Many times, our endeavors were rewarded by our commitment to believe, like buying a lotto ticket. We didn't rely on guarantees." -Sonny Miller.
"Good Luck Finding The Best Surf Movie in History... Searching for Tom Curren is almost certainly the finest surf film ever made. It stars our little sport’s most eccentric surfing genius at the height of his powers, and it was made by the late Sonny Miller, another of our maestros, also at his own artistic zenith." -Surfer Magazine.
"Tom Curren's surfing has impacted every surfer in the world over the last 10 years." -Kelly Slater, '96
" This is one of the finest surf films ever made. Curren is an artist and a genius. His surfing is fluid, powerful, instinctive and brave." -The Sun-Herald Sydney, Australia. November 24, 1996
"I've watched Searching for Tom Curren like a kagillion times!" -Mason Ho.

That session in Mozambique is so iconic for me... love Toms surfing there!
That was a mission and a half getting there. What a score to find that wave.

Tom and Frankie doing ACTUAL KARATE on those massive sleek boards.
Right?! Style ninjas
Longer and thinner boards for longer arcs and impeccable flow, speed and power down the line. Perhaps, the ongoing midlength revolution will result in going back to more length in high performance shortboards.
At 3:28 Brock’s goofy surf stoked smile is not only infectious but timeless.
Aloha au ia ‘oe kaikunane, E Ike hou ana au ia oe. 🕊🤙🏼
Mahalo Nalu for uplifting my spirits. Please pray for our Ohana in Maui✝️
Aloha Bobby! Still can't fathom what has happened on Maui. Praying for you and all the ohana..
classic
those boards are so long...
Big bucket sprays and stylish drawn out turns with a longer board.
Yup I still ride those boards
02:56 Classic music session with Jim Banks, Tom and who is the guy on the drum?
Not sure, that was a great trip!
Rocker? who needs it... TC
Curren's style looked better on some of his 1980's boards. The quintessential Curren era: 1980's.
Was that one of the beschen brothers in there?
Shane Beschen was on The Search
Get a cleaner dig in the rail on those thin narrow boards. Don't they look wierd now.
