Britt Breaks Down Tom Curren's Free Scrubber

- The twin finned namesake to Tom Curren’s surf edit, Free Scrubber, is a legacy design Tom created with Britt. The board is a re-creation from the magic twin fins Tom remembers Al making him some 40 years ago. But the Free Scrubber isn't just a straight copy of that original era's designs, he wanted to combine the best of that time period with the best of today's board design attributes. Tom wanted to harness the feeling of their low rocker, classic vee bottom feels as well as incorporate the traditional early ’80s winged swallow tail outline. The modern twist came through giving it a more refined rail and foil, so it doesn't have a girthy cruiser feel underarm and it is certainly noticeable underfoot because the Free Scrubber is as fast and loose as the boards he remembers but with added drive, hold, and responsiveness. Tom and Britt both feel this design is the perfect twin fin for surfers generally oriented more toward thrusters. A spicy and quick surfboard designed to give you all the freedom of a twin while allowing you to go places on the wave you didn’t think possible. Britt recommends that you ride the Free Scrubber 1" to 2" shorter than your Happy Everyday or 3" to 5" shorter than your Two Happy.

That board looks rad. The fin placement seams to work good right at the wing. How far up from the tail is the wing?
Have the board. Love it. Thanks for the fin suggestions as I had been wondering what other fins to use. But now realise all will work with it.
Rad, they will create different feels. Some will drive and hold more and some will loosen the board up some and provide more release.
@@cisurfboards I have the AMT and AMK. And have the EN in Futures. So I think I am covered for everything.

What sort of foam is Tom adding to his board, high-density foam or expanding foam? I like how he puts more volume in from rails and not on rails or middle, sort of like a concave step deck.
This board reminds me of the CI “ Sashimi “ twin fin model from 1998. The only difference was the Sashimi had an FCS for a trailer fin. We had them when I was managing Emerald City Surf & Sport in San Diego. I had a 5’8” and it went so sic at north Jetty and Newbs south sunset cliffs. Much Aloha
Looks super fun! Imagine if the board was released the same time the film came out. I know CI's not hurting for board sales, but that would've been epic.
How does it compare to the Ci Twin Fin from a couple of years back?
Could you please point put some functional differences between this and the twin pin? Trying to decide which one to get and they sound quite similar

How would you compare this to the fishbeard? I have a fishbeard and it`s my go to board since i bought it.
The FishBeard is quite different. It will be better in smaller more scrappy waves due to the wider tail. The FreeScrubber will work in smaller surf but more ideal in fun to pretty good surf because the tail is more pulled in therefore would need more or a wave to get going
This model looks extremely fun! What is your take on ordering this model a little longer than my everyday shortboard?
You can do that but will have more volume. If you are comfortable with more volume it will work great, if trying to keep the same you will want to size down as explained by Britt in this video or in the caption info above

basically an MR twin?... love those twins...high performance, super loose and skatey... how would this differ than the ones MR is still making or some of those old school ones? Is it still skatey and fun?
I actually love the pivotal feel of those old boards and pumping them like crazy in the pocket... I feel like a lot of the MR style boards i rode were like that and lacked some drive and projection but were crazy fast and skatey if you knew how to gain speed on them... any input CI? I am really curious ab this board... thanks.
