You mention having the UV light set up after the filtration. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of setting up the sump to culture as much good bacteria as possible? My understanding was that the UV light cleans indiscriminately, good and bad. Would it still work to have the UV set up before the sump? Thus sterilizing the water coming from the fish, but allowing the good bacteria to reach the fish?

silicone does not stick well to plastic or Styrofoam. A plastic glue would work better.
