- India’s heaviest satellite GSAT-11, that would boost broadband services in the country, was successfully launched by an Arianespace rocket from the French Guiana in the early hours of 5 December. Blasting off from the Ariane Launch Complex at Kourou, a French territory located along the north-eastern coast of South America at 02:07 am (IST), the Ariane-5 vehicle injected GSAT-11 into the orbit in a flawless flight lasting about 33 minutes. Weighing about 5,854 kg, the GSAT-11 is the “heaviest” satellite built by ISRO. It is a next generation “high output” communication satellite configured around ISRO’s I-6K Bus, and has a designed lifetime of more than 15 years. Post-separation, ISRO’s Master Control Facility at Hassan, in Karnataka, took over the command and control of GSAT-11 and found its health parameters normal, the space agency said in a statement. Calling the satellite a fore-runner in a series of advanced communications satellites with multi-spot beam antenna coverage over Indian mainland and islands, ISRO said GSAT-11 will play a vital role in providing broadband services across the country and also be a platform to demonstrate new generation applications.

@@aksshaysharma96 all the sub systems I think gsat 11 has more than 600 sub systems have been minaetursed using highly advanced technology like mmic. Full form of mmic is microwave monolithic integrated circuits.

I salute, the way isro is doing in communication infrastructure by increasing bandwidth ,it will be a game changer for far flung area of india continent who couldn't access Internet never before
But , according to Mr vagla pointed out we will a fourth country who send astronauts in space ,this is what I may not digest but our technologies have to far ahead move . because technologies will be demographic dividend for us if we have adequate number of users in constructive way that might lead our economy break the threshold where we are lagging.

The satellite link will be used as the the back haul channel to connect the Earth stations which will provide internet services in their respective localities. To receive signals and to transmit back to a satellite will require expensive very hefty and power hungry devices which would be impractical and counter intuitive to the very goal of the project.

History of Indian contribution toward Space technology is well known. After successfully launching of #GSAT-11 proved India's Role in Technology development..
#However There are some Hurdles which impede its Engine of growth such lack of budgetary allocations,Brain drain among Indian scientists,Dependent on grants,lack of experience among private players etc
#Therefore there is need to provide financial autonomy along with increased budget allocations,provide better ecosystem for scientist and incentivise private players to harness expertise and strengthen MSMEs etc

They should call at least one isro scientist on the panel. If I remember after isro launched a highly advanced hyper spectral imagining satellite. Isro chairman Dr Sivan said that development of semi cryogenic engine is in full swing and it will be tested sometime in 2019. I also heard our beloved chairman isro Dr Sivan say that launch of gsat11 will be the last launch of an ISRO satellite from foreign soil. So it's quite confusing.
