    Everything about the Arc browser is 100% what Safari and Edge combined would like to be. I could heavily see Microsoft taking some features from the arc browser and bringing them to Edge, like the vertical tabs sidebar. I also see a resemblance to safari a lot. The sidebar is what MacOS has been doing since big sure, and I think arc brings it to mac better than safari does. Arc feels more first-party than Safari does in some accepts.

    • @geoken2
      @geoken2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Except Edge had side tabs for years, but the implementation is better IMO. Whenever you see people demo arc, they’re using some blog or something with a tiny amount of content in the middle of the screen and tons of white space. But when I use arc with gmail or teams or whatever - it’s obvious that for the webapps we use the most - tons of wasted space one the sides isn’t the norm.

    • @azkanand5832
      @azkanand5832 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@geoken2 agree. I just tried arc yesterday. It is indeed beautiful. But the wasted space on the left part of the page quite bugs me. Horizontal tabs are still the most efficient. I can group them on Edge and expand/minimize.

    One feature i discovered today when moving around the video miniplayer is that if you use a trackpad, move the mouse over to the miniplayer, then place a second finger on the trackpad and you’ll be able to easily move around the video like that as well. You can also pinch to increase/decrease the size of the video.
    Edit: just wanted to add that I have now stopped using Arc completely. It was fun to use, but the constant crashes every time I tried to access my passwords on the browser pushed me away. Until they fix it, I’m sticking with safari and icloud keychain

    yeah but at the end of the day it’s just Chrome. It’s not really a browser, and it’s going to get steamrolled by Manifest v3. The only other browsers that remain are Firefox and Safari, and it’s a sad situation to be in.

      What’s manifest v3?

    • @itsthesola10
      @itsthesola10 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@prodbyruphus Manifest v3 is an update to the way browser extensions work. Google's implementation of Manifest v3 severely limits the ability for ad blockers to work, and all browsers based on the Chromium code will be hit as well. Since Google will also be enforcing these rules on their Web Store, it is unclear how other Chromium-based offerings will be able to deal with this.
      The only other established extensions store is Firefox Add-ons, which currently only targets the Firefox browser, and Apple's App Store, where WebExtensions are already somewhat limited.

    so basically chrome should add some more features and arc is dead.

    • @CodexBS
      @CodexBS 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And my counter argument to that is this: Will chrome actually ever add those features? When was the last time you remember chrome adding an actually useful feature? And even if they do copy some stuff, isn’t that all the more reason to be grateful that someone dared to push the boundaries of web browsing to enhance your experience? I simply don’t understand why so many people are thirsty to see new startups fail. Genuinely, can you even say you enjoy using chrome? I can’t either, but I can definitely say that every day when I use arc. Choose to be the optimist 😁
