This has helped me get to the next level. I’ve been working on my release this year - getting better - but doing this drill has greatly improved my progress. Thanks so much! I’ll keep doing it!
I'm getting back into bowling after 15 years. I've bowled A LOT (Like 200 games per week for years) when I was younger, went pro but was terrible professionally, but I think this video is on point. You gotta set yourself up for power and I think this is what the video is truly embracing. The one thing I want to add and I hope this helps anyone is finger pressure at the point of release. I've worked with Billy Hall a lot (again ages ago). He told me if you want to fire it up the gutter, lead with your index finger. If you want to go around the lane, lead with your ring (like Pete Weber). He told me to play with it. My buddy told me to lead with my thumb and you'll get rev rates like Chris Barnes, but absolutely your speed will decrease so you'll need a more aggressive swing. The beauty behind the idea is that you literally have 0 grab at the bottom of the swing so you can project the ball properly and still get the desired rotation. Clearing the heads consistently is probably the most important thing. Always throw the ball forward. (I know this sounds stupid / common sense, but I see bowlers a lot not doing this). 0 grab! Walter ray starts with his position on the right side of the ball. Loose muscles are important. Being under the ball in the entire swing, at least for me, makes me feel tense
I just wanted to tell you both how much this technique, along with the technique you demonstrated in your "Use This Incredible Drill To Master Your Bowling Release!" video, has DRASTICALLY changed my game!! My rotation is soooo much better and my revs have increased so much that I'm generally starting 3-4 boards more left than normal. I can't thank you enough for these 2 videos!!
This is something I’ve worked on the past 2yrs. I’ve gone up almost 35pins in avg by staying more behind the ball. I had issues of coming around the side and that led to wild fluctuations in scores.
It’s so funny cause I was watching this video while eating and got up out of my chair to do this and you are completely right. I instantly wanted to point the stick down, corrected myself to point it upwards and I can feel the tension in my arms. can’t wait to try this out at the alley thank you so much.
Great tip, I’ll definitely be trying this the next time I bowl.Seeing that the USBC’s are in Vegas and Reno every second and third year, the gambling app promo doesn’t seem far fetched.
I like you guys a lot. Just be careful with gambling sites. They pay well but the backlash might hurt your brand down the road. Other than that, the content is great!
Brad, Kyle and Coach. This drill worked! This allowed me to focus on how to keep my hand on top of and behind the ball on my down swing. Because of this, I shot 2 220 games in league last night. Thanks of the tips!!
Pretty much, there are way too many commercials advocating gambling in media today. I'm not sure when the change happened, but it did. Frankly, I would hope that Brad & Kyle would reject such advertisements. It's not a good look, especially since you're supposed to be role models for the next generation of bowlers. Great video but overall, however, I am disappointed in the channel for taking the casino ad. I understand they need advertisers to grow the channel but it does leave a bad taste in my mouth.
@@jasonboness3871 You are correct, thats why i watch youtube, with premium on everything, to avoid gambling commercials. i dont see how bowling has anything to do with gambling.
Going and doing this now. I love when there are things that can be worked on at home. I havent been bowling that long, there may be some. I tend to be toooo up the back if thats possible.. Very low rotation and high tilt. Take time. Thank you for sharing.
so much clicked with such a simple drill. love the videos, especially since just starting from scratch these type of drills that focus on feel makes things less complicated than it should be
This was a great video but it did confuse me just a bit. You both talked about having the stick point up a bit in the back swing apex but at the end he kept talking about it being horizontal all the way though. Which is it? Lastly please do a video on thumb fit and grip. All this and I can't use any of it until I can bowl again. I tore my RCL and one of the tendons in my elbow by not warming up and throwing a ball in practice on league night. They tell me that I shouldn't have felt a pop in my elbow lol. I bowled 3 more weeks like that. Shot 600 two weeks but the last I really felt the pain and shot 579. So I am thinking of bowling left handed and applying this knowledge until I can bowl right handed again in a year.
Yay!! Thank you, thank you for this tip! I was just talking to a friend last week about how tough it’s been to train my elbow to stay in - sooo excited for this! 🎉
Love this.. Daniel, you guys are just making video’s for me..( it feels like). To my wife’s angst, went and broke a couple of plastic hangers to practice with.. thanks guys.
excellent coaching... so simple and obvious that it's all about position of the hand and arm, not about crazy technique and strength to compensate for bad motion.
Man, this video couldn't have come at a better time! I've been practicing this for the last few weeks, and couldn't get myself corrected. Definitely gonna try this out!
The casino ad was a bit odd, I understand they need some money to keep bowling ect but I am not sure. But great video none the less, I have been trying everything to get my hand in the right position and this is probably just what I needed.
Great video guys! Keep it up with these instructional segments. I actually stay under the ball until the moment my fingers release, so for me, that stick stays level with the ground through the whole swing.
Just bowled last night and was totally on the struggle bus. I knew it was my release but I couldn't figure it out. This drill is perfect to correct what I was doing.
Used a extra long soda straw, and apparently that is not my issue, but it did give me the feeling between the bicep and triceps to use as reference for when I’m working on things in the future to keep from getting out of whack. Thanks for that
This is a great video with some fresh perspective. Think I might try taping a stick to the equator of my ball to see the motion in my mirror and get the proper feel.
A new drill. Love it! I might retire a ball to drill a hole in the side of it. The stick should be placed at my PAP if I want to do this drill with a ball?
You might have already done this; I would like to see a video going into depth about releasing "behind the ball." It would help to know what the window of acceptability is before you are "going around" the ball. Also this was an awesome video.
After watching this I thought to myself "No way my stick will point down".....Sure enough my wrist turns when I come back and the stick was pointed straight down 🤦♂️.....Can't wait to try this out on league night. Thank you guys!!!!
Just did this drill briefly for the first time with a pen, I don't have a problem keeping it level, from watching video of myself, I am able to keep the wrist in a good position with a weightless item, but with a bowling ball my wrist tends to "break" at the top of the swing and as it begins it's descent, gotta work on that still.
Ok first off I was very impressed with the video, but I’m a little confused with the hanger position. When you bring it up to the back position, are you aiming for it to rise a little or remain horizontal? At first it sounded like you wanted the hanger to point upward a little bit, but toward the end, it sounded like you wanted to keep it horizontal through the whole swing
I think for concentration purposes, goal is horizontal. It’s also okay, to have a bit of tilt when he described it, looked like, 0-45 degrees in angle from camera view, at the top of the swing.
Have never seen this drill before and this is something I struggle with the most in my game as a 220+ average. Definitely going to be working on this today.
This is a really good drill, back then they only told me to put a dot on the ball, that dit always needed to be on top, if it's staying steady means the release is good.
Thank you guys so much for this exact video. If the YT search engine would just send everyone to this exact video from now on, it would save EVERY new or returning bowler tremendously. Thank You!
I have practiced the same movement with keeping a towel in my armpit but the stick idea is excellent. Great job coach. My question is how to perform this movement as well as the yo-yo release? The arm bending and yo-yo release needs a relaxed arm but it seems difficult to accomplish while keeping that elbow against your body during the arm swing. I would love to see the breakdown of that arm swing described in this video combined with the bended elbow and yo-yo release. Hope that makes sense. Thanks.
Love the B&K videos a lot! And they have helped my game. But having ads for Gambling sites.... so many lives ruined by gambling. And gambling slots are the worst... Slots are designed to hook ppl with small adrenaline boost while slowly draining your funds and hooking you into spending more. Slots might have a on-paper high return / win rate, but since it's lower than what u invest, u will always lose in the end (just more slowly)... The more u play, the more u lose. The house always wins.
This has helped me get to the next level. I’ve been working on my release this year - getting better - but doing this drill has greatly improved my progress. Thanks so much! I’ll keep doing it!
I recognize the mentality of my own coaches in this. It's uncomplicated, observable and easy to follow. I want more 😊

Absolutely awesome video! Now I understand the what and how to do ‼️‼️
Excellent drill, example and explanation. Much appreciated.

Good point. Too much downside to any type of gambling especially gambling apps that are too easy to access on a phone.
Agreed. Don't need that kind of sponsor. Even if I'm sure they pay well
it was today we went from fan's to customers.... :(

Aw man, i cant even watch brad and kyle without being hit with casino commercials.
As a addict, i didnt expect this.
Probably can't watch tv, or listen to the radio, or drive your car either huh?

I will try it. Great tip!!!
I LOVE this. I kept hearing about the equator but having a visual representation in motion like this is genius.
Great video, great advice! Thank you!
Never thought about that. Very helpful and informative.
Love this tip
Great video! Thanks

So easy to follow along and imagine this! (for me). Will try this tomorrow at league 8). I'll definitely be imaging that stick lol.
Can you guys do a video on what drills I can do to get a higher backswing? Right now my backswing basically stops at my hip.
The biggest benefit I got from going thumb out was my hand getting inside the ball. I still have to concentrate to keep it inside until release.
This is money!
love it thanks guys

hey coach how many reps should you do
I'm 2 hander and altered my release with this drill. The increase in hitting power by rolling it more is insane. Thanks Brad and kyle!!!!!
Do you bend your elbow for the backswing?
@joeymilleris I do and then straightens out. I've seen it both ways.
This is awesome. I'm getting me a stick and goin to work. Hell yeah.
I haven't seen anything about Mo Bettahs yet.. hawaiian spot thats so good!
Man this tiny tip has helped my rev rate strike rate ball feels amazing at release
I swung it with a ruler in my hand and it was pointing downwards omg. This is such a good drill. Now I can work on this muscle memory.
What helps me a lot is doing bicep curls with pinky up

Thanks for tip, Coach.Daniel.
Wow I have always wondered why I can fix my tilt tried the hanger and it’s pointing down thank you
I would love the coaching don't see the link.
Would it be the same for 2-handed bowlers or no thumb bowlers? How different would the results be?
It is very similar for two handed bowlers. Controlling the position of the equator of the ball is key to a good release and roll.
Question can i tape the stick to the ball and practice it at home so i can get used to it?
Guys get the bag 👊🏾
I have practiced the same movement with keeping a towel in my armpit but the stick idea is excellent. Great job coach. My question is how to perform this movement as well as the yo-yo release? Does this still apply to 2 handers?
Thanks for the good video! Could you do something similar, also for a two-handed bowler? Thanks
Like this. My ? Is how would it work if you bowl with out thumb hole
how does this apply to two-handers?
Can I add an ankle or wrist weight to my wrist to simulate some weight to help with this drill?
How does this work with a very short backswing? Some people have a really big backswing, and some have very little backswing
Daniel is the man!
Yeah! 😀
Can this be applied to two-handed bowlers?
My question as well
Does this work for a full roller my son is one and not sure what drills would work
