Was struggling a little bit, watched the video, went out and practiced this routine for a good 30 minutes on the lanes. Did a couple practice games for a 248 and 258. Thank you both for the drill, the entertainment and the confidence.
So funny enough, i do coach 1 and 2 step drills for my students. Plenty of them just wanted to use their upper body and this taught them that they needed to have better timing and more leg focus.
This is so great - I'm still getting use to launching the ball at and angle compaired to how I use to launch my ball straight down from the targeting dots up to the far right arrow (My old 15 year old ball couldn't hook to save it's life). The DV8 Collision is game changing for me and I've managed to bowl a few mid 200 games - Because the ball has such great grip and is my 1st reactive asym - I've had to get use to providing more room for the ball to work.
Getting to know your arsenal and having a well rounded bag is paramount to optimal bowling. I also suggest using a dedicated spare ball, throwing straight at all your spares to increase that spare percentage.
Great video and drill guys! Just a quick question, but when I was learning to bowl and later when I taught youth, I used a tarp on a home built pvc frame that set in the adjacent lane gutters and across my lane at the dots or arrows to block the view of the pins and wonder if you ever do the same? I still regularly use it for target training and I can also identify when I feel my brain pulling my eyes from where they should be. Cheers and thanks for your content!!
Great advice, as always. I probably asked this question already, but what do you guys think of the phaze AI? I realized that you were using it in this video, but there is no review on it.
Hey guys, when your doing this drills how many reps should I do on each one. I have a problem with my balance at the foul line thanks and have a great new year
It’s funny you mention blindfolding yourself . In Archery we have what we call blank bailing. We basically close our eyes and just work on the release. You’re not aiming you’re not doing anything but working on your shot execution with your release aid only about 3/4 feet from the bale …
I think the biggest thing that gets overlooked outside of bowling, and is extremely easy, is getting a $20 smartphone tripod, and video taping yourself over the throwing shoulder, and at the foul line three gutter caps over. There is a lot of information on your good and bad shots to study what went wrong, so you can present it to your coach. When you're done practicing, maybe you can even figure it out for yourself by studying your favorite pro players frame-by-frame to see what fundamentals might be missing.
@@squidly2112 ok maybe you need to open your eyes then LOL! I think this drill is good if you are unsure if you create more rotation with the middle or ring finger or if it is even. It can explain a lot about your axis tilt and how your oil rings form.
I would think the average Joe isn’t going to do much no step, 1 step etc when every time we let go of the ball, we can hear a cash register go ka-ching
They do this entire drill in 15 minutes with all the explaining. This could be a 10-15 minute drill with a good amount of focus on the no step if paying for an hour or it can all be done in 1 game.
One step drills at the foul line absolutely do not work. As soon as you use your full approach, that one step drill is out the door. They are a waste of time. If you’re a pro, you make it look good because you already know what you are doing.
Your arms aren't perpetual motion machines. Every single bowler who continues to swing their arm after releasing a ball is using muscle to do that. They might think they're not and swear on their life that they're not, but they actually are. If your arm was actually fully relaxed at release, it would fall and dangle like a limp noodle after the follow through. I get guys like Patrick Allen looked super cool flapping their arm like a bird, but it's the most meaningless thing ever. "Look at how loose and relaxed my arm swing is" says the wacky-waving-arm-flailing-inflatable-tubeman.
It’s muscle memory and feel and it’s the shoulder muscles not the arms that swing your arm. People are all different for a reason what’s the point if every single person bowled exactly the same?
Thanks for breaking these down. The visual along with the description of each drill was very helpful.

love the way you two compite

The legendary bowling coach Dick Ritger was a proponent of the continued swinging of the arm after release.

Love the tips! Killing it as always!
Hey Brad and Kyle, looking forward to seeing you both in Vernon Hills Illinois. Plus Dennis. Hope all three of you guys had a great holiday season.
When what is that? I'm near there. (Too lazy to do more research, sorry?)
@ 2/3/2025 to 2/8/2025. Under pba illinois classic, the schedule is the.

Glad you boys are back. Love me some Brad and Kyle! Happy New Year, boys!? Best of luck in the New Year!!
I need to start doing no step/foul line drills

5:37 kyle doesn't like missy elliot😂😂😂
Cool video talk tech bowling Brad and Kyle
great video guys...keep on bowling!
Got me a lane for new years tonight. 6 hours of approach practice for city open next weekend
By yourself or with a group? Thought about doing it, but didn't want people to think I was weird LOL!
@TraumaER Wife and a couple friends. Got a lefty. Straight bowlers and a high rev guy. Just like league night
@TraumaER Hopefully they throw fresh house on the lanes before anyone shows up

11:40 the TV Bowling Supply special. 😂

My whole approach is 2 steps. Bad for ball speed but forced to due to limitations

I really need to spend more time utilizing these drills. i definitely dont do them enough. Approach, timing, balance all big issues for me.
Me too
Happy New Years Boys!!!
Never thought of closing my eyes. I close my eyes when I am in the gym to focus on mind-muscle connection. Never thought of doing it at bowling.
I close my eyes (and pray) every time I throw the ball .. 🤣🤣🤣

Happy 2025 guys!
Great tips guys , thank you !

I’ve got the same thought, most people can’t afford to do this.
@JeffDillion where I practice there are times they charge for two hours, not per game. That's when I do drills like this
There are plenty of opportunities to practice these drills, if even just for a few frames
I went and got scrap foam cheap and laid it down to be able to drills at home.

I'm a 4 stepper. I've always been a 4 stepper. I've tried doing 5 steps but it just feels too unnatural to me.
Kyle what is the adjustment for leaving 10 pin a lot

Getting better takes time. There is no speedy way to do it.

typing an essay is crazy

@@Jesusfanatic0711 It's a combination of those things, not the result of a relaxed arm swing.
@ 80, 20 how your timing is to produce that ask any pro or coach that’s all you need 80, 20….2 handed or 1 the numbers are the same
