Do not get this confused with the 500L.. The wife and I test drove pretty much every crossover suv out there. We needed another for her work drive. In almost all trims. CRV-HRV-Rav4-Tuscon. None drove as well as the AWD Trekking model. The 2.4 has a lot of power in the range. The handling is shockingly good. The 9 speed ZF (same used in the Discovery Sport) seems really worked out. We thought for sure we were going with Honda or Toyota before we drove this car.. Ya'll haters sit and watch youtube reviews and yell nonsense.. ;)
I just got a rental 500X yesterday. Love it! Stick it in sport mode and have fun (it even has a g-force gauge in that setting). Not much not to like so far. Don't know if I would buy one, but for a rental it's a blast. I had a Jeep Renegade rental a few weeks back and really like that (in Arizona). I'm in TX this week and it slips in and out of Houston traffic without any issues. I'm on a longer road trip tomorrow so I'll see if there's any updates I need to ad. REVIEWERS - PLEASE SPEND MORE TIME IN SPORT MODE IN THESE 4 CYLINDER CARS. These little engines like to rev, so give them a work out and don't try to compare them to 6 and 8 cylinder engines.
I got a 2017 Fiat 500 X and so far it is the best car I own. It was also very affordable too. Mine was preowned, however it worked and looked like it was brand new. My mother loves driving it too.
You think Kelly blue book would of been competent enough to understand dog clutches in the transmission. It’s literally low revving to get better fuel economy. I owned one of these things. The transmission was fine. Reviewers think it’s their job to create problems
Mike Perez I already bought a great car, a 2016 Honda Civic. By the way, read a few consumer reports on Fiats. These cars are nutorious for failure in literally all aspects of being a good car. Premature engine failure, premature transmission damage, bad electronic system, bad alternators and AC systems. Literally read any article done by someone who studies cars for reliability and you’ll see what’s almost universally accepted as a GOD awful vehicle
I had 2 Fiats and an Alfa in 12 years. They are NOT unreliable and offer a lot for the money. I own now a Panda Cross Diesel, a solid dinky little car. Maybe americans are a bit biased.
@@maile3510 I doubt that, have you not seen some of the sh@te made In America? They have only just about learnt how to make a car that goes round corners
The Honda is just under powered at 160hp. I test drove it. I really like its looks, but it needs another 15hp at least. The Mini-Cooper is expensive if you try to go toe to toe with the 500X Trekking Plus. I'm not planning on off roading so I don't like the looks of the Jeep (ugly). As for the Mazda ....looks nice for sure, but I sort of like the quirkiness of the 500X better.
I had a Fiat 500 pop for a few years . When the big bragging jeep people couldnt make it to work my tiny car always could . Cant wait for the next blizzard to get my bragging rights in the Treking plus
Great review. If someone is seriously considering this vehicle, they should lease it so they are not left with so much deprecation and get a good deal on it.
+Luke Hoisington not true....Ive owned a Fiat for years and it is wonderful and very dependable.....I've had no problems in 4 years.....it is beautiful....bellissima
My Abarth has been a nightmare since day 1. dealing with Fiat corp is even worse, than always having a broken car. I would purchase one of these, if it wasn't for how terrible FCA treats it's customers. They got me once, never again!
It doesnt look so "fashion" to me.. Especially when compared to superstylish toys like Mini Countryman, Nissan Juke etc this looks the most classic and "durable" design to be honest.
By the way, where does that 2.4 litres come from..? Petrol 2.4, are we still in the '90s..? Tigershark he said? Lol what is that? This is Italy we dont give names to engines lol... even the French dont
They will never hand you the keys to another Fiat/Chrysler/Dodge again. LOL. Suggesting to buy something else. Shame on you. Haha I would buy any of the competition first. Especially because of depreciation.
I don't know.... the Fiat 500x and Jeep Renegade seam like the "Illegitimate children" of both Chrysler and Fiat. I don't know if The "relationship" is meant to last, Daimer dumped Chrysler in 2007. I think the two companies are just dating. Not a long lasting union.

Paul C well done Paul.
Jeep ren rocks
I agree! And looks terrific!
has it been reliable? any issues (major or minor)?
Before I forget I should say that you have the best camera team of all car reviewers I have ever seen!
+edgarmcpy I agree!
Don't like depreciation? buy one with 5k-12k miles for about $15,000 you really can't beat that.

Your absolutely right it drives fantastic

Mines on the way same condition one owner and like 2 dings around the entire car!

I have this car for seven months, 13.600 km no problem, it seems well built.
You made a mistake
@@Semonyacob No he didn't, shut up and go buy one if you're even a adult. They are very good cars, you wouldn't know I guess.

fiat 500x is best small car around!

Mujimuller Muler or they have higher standard
I know this post is old But most Americans keep one car for 12 years not 3 so I don't think a Fiat or Alfa could last 12 years without major issues.
i had an alfa milano for 9 years never a problem, and beside this i had a fiat for 7 years one problem with windows that's all!

a friend has a mini countrymen, i do not like it. the dash is so high and flat i feel like im sitting behind a wall.
They never mention the Subaru crosstrek as a comparable vehicle for any of these small suv/crossover reviews
+Shintaroh Yuhki cause its trash XD
+Michael Taffe that's fair
What about Reliability?
rajTrondhjem10 well its a fiat so there goes that
rajTrondhjem10 i had no issues so far with fiat punto, my moms fiesta got rust on doors in 3years
What's the name and brand of those shoes?
+Jnsn Jnsn (Jnsn) They're Adidas Sambas, though I customized the colors.
Do you recommend it over the 500L Trekking???
I need a small suv should I get one of these
This car feels nice and luxurious when you sit in it but the drive felt rough, loud and choppy to me... Made me not want it.
Are this reliable cars and are they good on fuel
Tell me it's 5-liter engined or 500 horse power.
I like how you got your lean on
Great review as always....skip the FIA dealer...
i didint know fiat made a 4 door intil now when you said it.
I'm thinking of getting one what is the best one to get
The 2016 fiat 500x is great really good
The 1.4 liter turbo with the 6-speed manual is the way to go. Too bad Fiat limits the accessory options on it.
Have this, trekking edition. Not bad, not great, just there. I like it just enough to wash it once in a while.
The CX3 and definitely the Mini countryman, are far more expensive tho, and the Juke? C'mon. High fuel consumption, lacks features, and has issues.
what are those?.. shoes? :O
the fiat looks like a fun run about, but i would lean more towards the other vehicles it competes with though
Honestly I would drive it
They should review the Tesla Model X. It is a great car
Would my 71 year old mother have a hard time getting in and out of this car??
Forza Fiat
America's most unreliable brand and Italy's most unreliable brand become one. yay. not
+Luke Hoisington Italy's most unreliable brand??? I do not think so.

SystemRichie A overwhelming success?
Yeah its an extremely niche vehicle everyone knows the Fiat is no competition to the heavy hitters...people will only buy this on emotion
+PremierAutoMan86 People would buy the competition if they want to feel like they belong.
Fix It Again Tony = Fiat
Fiat is Chrysler so I love it

Fiat - Fix It Again Tony.
After all these years they still have the worst reliability ratings of any of the major auto makers, by a large margin.
Hideous.
An awful car
