This video is so inspiring & exactly what I needed to hear . I’m 36 & pursuing this career after being a fitness trainer & health coach for years .. I wanted to take my passion to the next level.. I’m scared because I am older but I’m very much filled with joy & excitement about this new journey !! Never give up .. UR NEVER TO OLD TO MAKE A CHANGE !!
My goal was to get into something like sports medicine or physical therapy and to become a personal trainer. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your daily life like?

Not only was the video inspiring but even more so your comment. I became a personal trainer at 20 and did that for about 5 years. Joined the Army at 25 and I'm now 26. If I get out after my first contract I'll be 29. I've been dreaming of pursuing this same career (Sports medicine Orthopedic Surgeon), but I always had that voice in the back of my head telling me I'll be too old by the time I become an attending physician (around 44 years old). I know age is nothing but a number but it's a thought I've always struggled with since I realized this is what I want to pursue.
I just really want to say thank you for your words of wisdom. You have no idea how impacted I am from just your comment alone.
@@Marcelo-jh4im aww thx for asking .. I have a husband & a 1 year old so my day is jam packed .. I basically have a routine; classes 4 nights a week , work 5 days a week! Mother & wife 365 lol. I study when baby is sleep & I have very little social life .. I prioritize what most important in my life but having this good study habits is key! It’s challenging but somehow I get it all done with time management & sacrifice !
I love that you put this out there! I’m 22 and it’s daunting coming back to school for nursing when so many of my peers are around 19

@@daquavious8286 I was working with athlete and we learning a lot about trigger point realease mechanisms, stretching and massaging techniques, how to treat athletes of several sports and so much more. It's truly exciting!

Sports medicine and immunology are two of my fav fields in medicine
After aquiring a bachelors and masters in civil engineering and working 2 years in the field, Ive realized that I never liked engineering and have always loved sports. I would love to go back to school for Physical Therapy or Sports Medicine. This video was inspiring. :,)

ubu 9 As he mentioned in the video, you barely use your primary specialty in sports medicine. While technically it may be a sub-specialty since it’s via a fellowship, many consider it either on the border of being its own specialty or simply its own specialty. None of the same can be said vis-à-vis pediatric endocrinology vs. endocrinology. Think about it practically, not technically

I just started my freshman year of pre-med and want to pursue a sports medicine physician. The one thing I hate is when I tell people I’m going into sports medicine and they say “oh so a athletic trainer” 😐

Can I get a “so you want to be a fetal surgeon?” I would love more information on this specialty or at least one on maternal fetal medicine. Don’t see many videos discussing or even mentioning this subspecialty. I have some knowledge on it when it comes to procedures and conditions treated by fetal surgery, but not much on training, fellowships and the competitiveness. Thanks for all the vids!

This was really enlightening. I didn't realize all of the procedures and abilities a sports doctor has. This will be something to look into when it comes time to decide a specialty. I am really interested in cardiology but this looks like a better lifestyle. Would it be possible to do an internal medicine-cardiology residency with a fellowship in sports medicine?
Please do cover preventive medicine, counselling options.. i love talking to patients and listening to them. I love bringing positive change in people 's lives but i don't like the prescribing medicins part. I am an empath as well so going to psychiatry scares me because of emotional drain. I wonder if i have any ray of hope in medicine. I am an IMG and on my to to usmle step 1.
