Absolutely beautiful bike! Way back in 1992 I bought a 1971 Honda SL350 from a friend of mine. It had been sitting for 8-9 years since the last time it ran so I got it for $50.00. The wiring was rigged, the ignition switch was bypassed through a toggle switch and of course the tires were rotted off of it. I flushed out the tank, installed new points, cleaned the carburetors, changed the oil and put a used set of dirt bike tires on it. When I was done that bike ran like a sewing machine! It was missing the rear fender and was pretty beat up so I called it Max because it looked like something out of the mad max movie. It had the original exhaust system and I loved the way the two cylinders would harmonize at a certain RPM! It sounded so cool! My brother has a 1986 Honda 250R 3-wheeler AND MAN DID WE HAVE SOME GOOD DRAG RACES! We were always neck and neck until I got into the top of 5th gear and my brother shifted into 6th gear and he would just barely pull away. I had more fun on that bike than any other I've had! Especially considering the fact I only had $50.00 plus the cost of two sets of points and a little time invested in it. I worked for the family tire shop so the tires were free. I've always regretted the fact that I got rid of it when I got my 1986 Honda XR600R. Then in 2000 I passed out from dehydration while I was going about 50 MPH on a 1985 Honda 200X 3-wheeler. When I did I veered off of the trail and hit a tree which broke my neck and pinched my spinal cord leaving me paralyzed from the chest down. It also broke three ribs on my left side and punctured my lung in three places... I'm lucky to be alive! Long story longer (LOL) the 1971 Honda SL350 is a beautiful machine! If I were able bodied I would find one to restore! Thanks for sharing this video of such a beautiful and fun classic motorcycle!
krisjato thanks for the story. it is unfortunate what happened but as you said you are lucky and im glad you seem to be a person of high spirits and that is kick ass. im about to buy an sl350 myself from its original owner! very excited. i have several cb's and cl's but these seem a bit more rare and there is something about the sl that really draw me to it. regards
No problem Ignis fatuus! Thank you! It's definitely unfortunate but it is what it is. I could be bitter about it but that's not going to get me anywhere so I do the best that I can! What year is the SL 350 that you're going to buy? Are you going to restore it? When I had my 1971 I didn't realize how rare they are. If I had I definitely would have kept and restored it! They are absolutely beautiful bikes! Well, good luck with the new SL 350!
krisjato hello again i ended up buying the sl! it is a 1971 with under 7k miles bought from the original owner who purchased it in 1971. a very nice man and he kept excellent care of the bike. i plan to get 1 season of riding out of it before doing a full restore... which honestly wont take much! thanks for your interest friend. regards
Hello again Ignis fatuus, that's great! WOW... From the original owner? I'm sure it's a beautiful bike! It sounds like it'll be a fun project! You should do a restoration video series on it. Best of luck with it and safe riding!
Nice bike. I owned the gold one and replaced the engine witch had a dead cylinder with a cb 400 twin which I traded a Bulltaco Alpina just for the motor. A fun bike ride to work then take a trail or two on the way home.
Had one just like it when I was 14, 15. Don't remember what happened to it man wish I had it back.
I wish they would bring back the sl bikes they were so nice and the yamaha Dt 175 mx they were classics

My Dreambike!
Did you finally buy one ? Or still dreaming ! They look good , don't they ? I had one in 1972 and I like them just as much as I did back then.
I like the exhaust sound!
