Overview of the process of programming the RCM (Restraint Control Module) with is required to be replaced after an airbag deployment on most later model fords. I used the VCM I and the latest version of IDS (110.4 at the time) to complete this process.

HI nice video. I wish you were in San Diego. I replaced my RCM in my 2016 Focus with a used one from another car that had no crash data in it. Car was hit from the rear. I need to change the VIN number to match my VIN to my car. Can i do this with Forscan? I do not have IDS as it is very expensive to buy. Tnx.

Hi mate, i'm actually programming the same module (RCM) but MANUALLY with AUTEL IM608 PRO and i need the 6 digits hex code but in Morocco we don't have ford motor company and can't have an access to ford technical resource center. can u help me please?
Keep in mind this module is case grounded,, if ground isn’t hooked up it’s not going to work,,, don’t ask how I found this out lol

What is IDS?? Is this a free software I can download or do I need to buy a diagnostic tool?
what vci are you using
With IDS a VCM1, under most J2534 stuff a Bosch Mastertech VCI.

Hey Keith I’m using the j2534 tool. The car is a Ford Focus 2016, deployed the airbag. Can I install a used a rcm from another Ford same year amd model and reprogram? The used module is clean and checked before I removed it.

Keith maybe I missed it, was there a reason you didn’t pull the info off of the old module first? Was the module not communicating?
It was already replaced and reassembled by the time I was called.
Does reprogramming with jds clear the “crash detected” code?
No... That requires a new module, crash data should never be cleared unless its a factory supported procedure.

Thanks Keith great video. Is the Cardaq Plus 3 compatible with IDS? 2009 Ford Escape RCM programming.
IDS only works with the Ford VCM, the Cardaq will work with FJDS. FJDS is what was used in the video.

You could, it would still need "programmed", and I don't recommend used RCM's.
17 Explorer on plate today. Told customer it can’t be used so we’ll see. I go one session at a time. Anywhere cheaper than going thru Ford site with car daq3+ ? Hopefully everything goes as smooth as one would hope but first air bag so will tread very cautiously & just follow the service data.
Question for you Keith. When I go to get ford as built data from the motor craft site I get pcm as built but then scroll down and there’s this thing called bce modules. Any ideas what that means?? I have ids but used fjds a few times and seen that. Ever run into this??
Phil, the BCE is all the other modules, the first 3 numbers of each set tells you what module it is.
Thanks. So during as built the first 3 numbers are filled in then you fill in the rest? Haven’t messed with it in awhile. I remember they used to break it down module by module by name instead of a long ass list. So you’d scroll down til you got to say 754 was your first 3 numbers then enter them in the boxes?

Passenger seat and curtain deployer ,parts changed and module reset, airbag light goes out but on scan it says, airbag locking circuit impedance 306.67 ohms and front loop passenger side impedance 0,is the module turned off on passenger side.👍
