    Hey Barbi! This is Erika from the Droid Depot (I was the one you talked to outside). So glad to see that my friends helped you out!
    As we talked about before, typically if changing the batteries doesn't fix this type of issue, then it's usually a sign of a bad motivator. Also, this kind of issue can sometimes be confused with sleep mode. Sleep mode is when the droid "stops working" after about 5-10 minutes of *not* playing with them. After watching your video and talking with you, I can definitely see that this wasn't the case, however I thought I would mention it in case anyone else has a similar issue and didn't know about sleep mode (especially since they make that exact sound when they enter sleep mode!)

      My remote didn't work when I took it out of the box and it wouldn't sync with the Droid app either. I called the number and then had to send an email. Waiting to hear back...

    Hi everyone. I just saw this video and I was experiencing the same problem (droid disconnects from controller or phone app). What worked for me was replacing the batteries in the droid with fresh ones. Who knows how long the droid parts have been circling around on the carousel before being picked and made into the droid they were meant to be and come home with you! After I replaced the batteries, my BB won't be quiet and goes everywhere I want him to from my phone app. After 15-20 minutes of inactivity, she finally shut herself off and sleeps. I hope this helps!

    All you have to do on bb8 is open the shell and flick the switch and it will work again.

      Unfortunately we tried that but we kept having the same issue. :-( Once we switched out the motivator though, it worked wonderfully.

    We find that our BB unit is difficult to drive. The momentum makes it a challenge.

      Andre DeVine We learned that the BB unit is harder because the “eye” can point in so many directions due to the body being round (according to the operator in the video). Supposedly the R-2 unit is much easier. We hope to do a comparison in the future!

    I had an issue with the paint peeling off of my Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber that I built during the AP preview at Studios. Hadn’t realized till we were out of the park. There was a merchandise customer service email address on the receipt. I reached out and within a month, I had replacement parts exchanged out for my defective ones via mail. Disney Customer Service was very helpful and kept me up to date with the status.

      There is an on and off switch inside the body, but unfortunately switching it off and on didn’t work. We got the motivator switched out and we’re good now!

      pedro Jesus paiva Perez I have a pass so entering wasn’t a problem. I didn’t have to pay for the repair or buy anything new. If you have a broken droid and don’t have park admission, I would call the customer service line to see what can be done.

    When yours stopped working, did you try changing the batteries before bringing it in? I’m asking because I’m thinking about building a BB unit of my own, but the idea of the bad motivators makes me a bit nervous.

      Yeah. We changed the batteries beforehand. It was definitely a bad motivator. But don’t worry, because Disney definitely backs up their products and as long as you keep your receipt, they’ll replace it for you, even if you’re not local. And they handle shipping if necessary. So, I’d say go for it! The BB unit we rebuilt has worked perfectly.

    What if you purchase one at disney world, can you get it repair at another park like in disneyland? Does you have to go to the park that you got it from?

      Super T I don’t necessarily see why they would, given that you would have HAD to have bought it from one of the only two locations that provide these. Similar to how if you buy a Harry Potter wand at Universal, you can have it repaired at ANY Universal, even without a receipt, since it had to have come from one of the parks.

    I’m a cast member I work at Star Wars Trading Post at Anaheim Disneyland. There’s a number on your receipt to call if ANYTHING you bought at Disneyland doesn’t make it home in one piece. EVEN MUGS. Yes if we have it in stock we will ship it to you! Local? Come on in we will replace the item. If it’s a Droid you built in the park go to the Guest relations window outside the park by the ticket booth they will make it right for you. Disney 1000% wants you to enjoy what you purchased while you visited! I’m not sure what WDW policies are fyi this pertains only to DLR.

      Rueben Aguayo If you’re local, absolutely! Tbh, we didn’t have ours, either. If you watch the video, you can see it in the shots where we were building the droid and that’s the last time we saw it 🤦🏼‍♀️ and of course had no idea at the time we’d be having issues....

      Michael McKinnon Keeping the receipt is definitely ideal. However, with the way the droid depot is set up, making and then stealing a personalized droid would be pretty difficult which is probably why they took pity on us.

      Have you had an issue with a droid? If you can get to one of the Galaxy’s Edge locations ans bring in the droid, they will still help you without a receipt.

    Are the bb units that bad to control? I have an r unit and they’re not bad.
    I saw a lot of people decapitate their bb units because they couldn’t control them 😂

    So I got my R2 in March, and we leave for Galaxy’s Edge tomorrow! I have not had a chance to check to see if it’s a battery issue, do you know if they’d change the batteries for me while I’m there if that’s the issue? My R2 is also known to cause issues as so many things went wrong when we built her lol

    Is there any international fixing option? Or a way to do it at home? I’m not from the Us and my BB unit has the same problem I think

      Oh no! So sorry to hear. If resetting the motivator doesn’t work or changing the batteries, you would need to call guest services to see what options there are.

    Someone help me! My sons bb8 stopped working the day we got home from Disney. Thought is was the battery. But we were also in the process of moving and now the lockdown never got around to it but its been in storage. Still not working, I don't have the receipt and paid in gifted cards😬 i did tried to email someone about it but they told me that can't do anything.

    On a slightly different subject I ve been trying to get my legacy Luke/Rey lightsaber since March called and emailed first Guest Services and then Merchandise Services. Since LA Disney was and is on Lockdown (got a reference number) this time so I am on the record for having to had try to resolve my issue. Is there another path I can go to get my saber replaced and shipped to me rather than me going back since I am not a local. I have my original receipt and everything. I was going to explore the Wonder Gallery In Downtown Disney next but you can’t contact them directly. Sorry I know your not Disney Guest Services but thought you might have some insights that I might have missed?! Thanks either way! :)

      Wow, I’m so sorry!!! Not only do I not work in guest services, we’re Orlando based so I can’t even begin to guess where you start in LA with the park still being shut down. If there is a Star Wars store in Downtown Disney on that coast, that would definitely be a good starting point. If (when) you find the answer, please let me know!
