  • Hello everyone! Having recently opened up on my main channel ‪@HollyGabrielle‬ about periods and my experiences with and without them, I wanted to make this video to explain the biology behind both the menstrual and ovarian cycles! I also tuned out in school when I first learnt about this stuff 🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyway, this video has a bit of anatomy, physiology and cellular biology packed into one, with lots of diagrams to help explain everything of course, so I really hope you find it fun, useful and enjoyable and watch! 💖

A female human baby 😊is born with all the eggs she will ever have (about two million). When a girl reaches puberty the number is reduced to about 400000 left in the ovary. From puberty to menopause only about 400 eggs reach maturity , released from the ovary and are ready to be fertilised. Uterus prepares every month for a baby. So much going on in our lovely bodies as evolution designed our bodies to reproduce - I love biology and we should all love and respect and take care of our bodies .

yes, this is very true indeed! and i agree 🙌🏻 we definitely need to care for our bodies 💖

Could you make a video concerning miscarriages? I have always wondered why women miscarriage and how to prevent it and also the causes of miscarriages.
Thank you soo much for educating us on these essential matters! Much appreciated🥰❤

yes, this is definitely a topic that i could do some research into and make a whole video about for sure!

Nice & important video. Was definitely a refresher video i needed! Female reproduction is virtually never spoken about in "anti-aging" interventions (my field of interest) and how different interventions such as caloric restriction mimetics/fasting (intermittent/periodic) influence it & sex hormones. Especially important since many anti-aging interventions have sex-specific differences

it seems like your exploring a really interesting and niche area of biology! one of the best things about science is that we're always finding out more and so i don't know if we'll ever really know what 'the truth' is, you know?! 🤓🤨

This has given me so much to think about/research. That surge of oestrogen during ovulation explains why I get incredibly sick during the lead up to ovulation day and feel significantly better once it’s passed. I’m also wondering if my Hashimoto’s disease complicates this process because that is connected to my pituitary gland 🤔 so much to think about, thank you 😊
