For all the idiots trying to correct this dude, saying "Migos aren't mumble rappers" clearly don't know what it means. Mumble rap isn't just mumbling on a beat, but everything repetitive in today's mainstream rap (heavy auto tune, sing rapping, repetitive lyrics, spamming the hook, etc)
Most of the songs throughout different decades that were popular and defined by their new sound often had repetitive lyrics. "Mumble rap" is self explanatory. Stop trying to make it something it's not. You can understand every word of the songs so try again
OG Lamont I agree with you except for the fact that I don’t think sing rapping is mumble rap. It’s definitely different, but I wouldn’t consider it mumble rap. Everything you said tho other than that I agree with
Culture 2 could’ve just been: White Sand Narcos Open it Up Notice Me Supastars BBO Emoji a Chain Walk it Talk it Stir Fry Motorsport Too playa Made men Crown the Kings And Top on da NAWF All bangers everything else is just to fill up time.
One could really make that case for literally any and every musician. A great melody and rhythm are generally what make or break an artist regardless of what they're actually saying.... if anything at all. lol
Noodler Man not really. I'm sure that you could think of super duper lyrical rappers that you don't really care about because their beats just suck ass, or sound boring. The actual rhythm of the music plays a a big part into what people find appealing. This is why artists like Nujabes and J Dilla are held in such high regard. You don't "need" lyrics to enjoy a song which is why "scat" is a thing. "Mumbling" is really just another version of that given that "what" is being said comes secondary to the "how." The way that it flows with a given beat is what ultimately draws a person in in the first place. Which is why anyone can rap, but not just anyone can be an MC....
don't know nothing about these guys but I do like hearing about how there is a system even in music that can be manipulated just like in tv and movies and online videos love hearing about things like that
+Jayded Takeoff has the most distinct voice out of them all watchu talking about lol 😂 Quavo has a robotic-like voice , Takeoff has a somewhat ashy/deep voice , Offset has like a normal voicd 😉
Louis Gregoire it is super long, and probably is for the sells. It doesn’t mean the album is bad. It took me a couple listens but most of the songs are really good imo
Literally tho I almost never have a problem understanding migos or future I don’t understand why the term mumble was applied to this genre because it’s just not the appropriate term, migos are singing (quavo) or rapping (offset, takeoff), future is more singing (listen to coming out strong for example) and lil uzi is singing to me too so i don’t get where the “mumbling” is at
Luc Robbins I’d say on futures older music he definitely did mumble. He even did an interview where he said he did the song “Tony Montana” and was so gone off something that he couldn’t feel his face and just said fuck it and dropped it anyway. But yeah Migos are clearly understandable I guess they just give it the term mumble because there’s not one clear consistent message throughout a song just bragging about misc. objects and accomplishments. Something you’d play in the background instead of paying full attention too. Like the difference between analyzing a speech or just listening to someone mumbling
Memes and good marketing. Regardless of what anyone thinks of their music, no one can deny that Migos and a lot of these newer artists know how to play the game. Which dude even gets into a bit with this video. Everyone knows that streams count towards your success and longevity now. But where people get confused is "what" exactly a stream is. Most people think that it begins and ends with platforms like Spotify, Tidal, or TH-cam. In actuality, streams also include any video that uses clips from someone's song in the background. Parodies, tutorials, ads, remixes, etc. They all count now. So the next time Migos features someone like Uzi, and some jackass makes a parody where the song just consists of one of them saying "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" every viewing counts now. Those "X song for 10 hours" videos count now. So the long short of it is, as long as people keep referencing them in any capacity, whether those doing so like Migos or not, they aren't going anywhere until they decide to disappear. lol
3:02 A good example for this is Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow on Invasion of Privacy. That song alone is why the album went gold quickly, but people don’t realise this.
You’re grouping all of “rap” into the current most popular mainstream artists. Vlogging comparison is only relevant in the context of less substantive/bubble gum rap like Migos, 6ix9ine, X, Cardi B etc. Don’t put the whole genre under this blanket (Kendrick, Big KRIT, BROCKHAMPTON, Danny Brown, Earl Sweathshirt, J.I.D. etc.) all doing their thing and keeping quiet outside of their art because guess what? Their fans listen and buy their music regardless of hype because they won’t forget about them as soon as the next hot trend comes along.
Migos are cool, just because they released their old mixtapes on streaming services is really just for the fans to enjoy in higher quality.. fuck the haters who came along with “pipe it up” and “bad n boujee” y’all are left behind a couple of years #facts
If you think about it, it's bittersweet to have tons of songs on your album/playlist. It's bitter because while most artists pick the best out of their multiple songs that have written for the album, people like these guys can just throw all of them on one lengthy album whether they are bops or duds. Sweet because (if you like the artist) you're getting two album length of music in one sitting.
Also - don’t agree with being cool with “artists playing the system” by bringing out extra tracks to fill up dead space. Playlists/streaming and the over saturation of music from the mainstream is watering down the sound - RapCaviar is saturating the entire genre with each song being the same as the next.
Just because you can understand them doesn't mean they're not mumble rappers. Not saying they're bad. If you fuck with em that's cool, but a lot of the times. Their hit songs' lyrics while audibly understable, make no sense whatsoever. This is also considered mumble rap.
I’m a stripper and I know for a fact we listen to these songs for their beats I love dancing to migos .. and most of this music is made for strip clubs soooo 🤷🏽♀️ outside the club I listen to audiobooks about money...the music has subliminals that go to your subconscious but at the end of the day you have a choice what you fill your subconscious mind with.
Honestly Culture 2 was ass. But people like hype. Now Migos makes their money. But culture 2 felt like a "here you are" to the fans. Culture however was lit.
Why is anyone acting like it's fucking clever to just release as much music as possible in order to make more money? Algorithms? Finessing the system? What
The funny thing is that there is a good album i culture II. It’s just nothing stands out because of, to me, 3 songs: higher we go, emoji on a chain and flooded. The first song is so mediocre and it kicks off the album so it makes people already not want to listen to the next song, it’s mostly quavo on the track and I like quavo but most of the time he can’t carry a whole song, which is common on this album a lot of songs have him on it for over half the song because they do a full length hook on almost every song he does the hook on and he gets a full, sometimes longer, verse than offset or takeoff who make most of the songs good. The last two tracks come in the middle of the album where they needed some spice and they come one right after the other, two terrible songs that are so boring (flooded is the most bare bones track on the album instrumentally speaking) they just take the life out of the album, which is already tiresome enough to listen to. I was a huge fan of culture I because it was as just enough migos to satisfy my need for that time, and even that album had a couple tracks I thought could have been taken off. It seems to me like quavo kind of brought this album down, offset didn’t really help a lot either although he does have some good verses and hooks on here, even takeoff has some snooze fest verses tbh, and it just makes it worse to have to play 50/50 with 24 tracks potentially.
I personally resent the notion that Migos are mumble rappers. Take Off has legit bars. In my opinion, in terms of bars they're in another class than someone like Future or Young Thug
I have a love hate relationship with #migos most of their music trash but the few diamonds there do have are bangers. Also it’s like they’ve replaced Rick Ross as hip hop ambassadors.
Who are all the fans of this type of music is the real question ...the listeners,of today are not the same of yesteryear the whole frequency nowadays is diff
It’s simple: they put triplet beats/flow in the centerfold(which most people dig) They are trendsetting. You really won’t understand what they’re saying unless you’re exposed to the black culture, trap culture, and been known the struggle. After all, “This that trap sound.”
PlayCalialy this bullshit. I been in the struggle been in the trap game and exposed to "black culture". However this new trap music sucks ass and is trash. T.i, gucci, lil flip. They made trap music too and was special. Now it all sounds the same
jonathan cravioto You can like whatever you like; the magic of music. What I’m saying is you won’t understand wtf they’re saying unless you been thru wit it. You won’t necessarily like their music, but can understand it. Now, do you understand what I typed prior?
I like the migos as people 😂 but i am honestly tired of their music, it sounds the same, no matter which year it is from. Edit: Bleach has the worst filler.
Or the fact that when I mention it....it's actually DEFENDING them lol.
You lost me at mumble rap..
OG Lamont finally someone gets it
Most of the songs throughout different decades that were popular and defined by their new sound often had repetitive lyrics.
Everything you said tho other than that I agree with
That more life playlist ain’t right just sayin lol
I think he did it on purpose so more people will comment on the video and boost activity
Lukas everything is just a conspiracy maybe he knew I would comment this to get more exposure
KMT more like “I’m about to KMS”
Culture 2 could’ve just been:
White Sand
Narcos
Open it Up
Notice Me
Supastars
BBO
Emoji a Chain
Walk it Talk it
Stir Fry
Motorsport
Too playa
Made men
Crown the Kings
And Top on da NAWF
All bangers everything else is just to fill up time.
Real question is how Migos had so many hits up until 2016 and didn’t get really noticed till Bad & Boujee
i noticed them since 2012 so I dont think thats true
These "rappers" should be giving 90% of their cut to the producers because God knows where they would be if the beats weren't dope.
One could really make that case for literally any and every musician. A great melody and rhythm are generally what make or break an artist regardless of what they're actually saying.... if anything at all. lol
OgI Kidd but it’s much more applicable to mumble rap....where the beat is what makes people twerk and dance
Well how often does lyrics make somebody dance..
Quavo and their dj made like 75% of their beats... so...
Noodler Man not really. I'm sure that you could think of super duper lyrical rappers that you don't really care about because their beats just suck ass, or sound boring. The actual rhythm of the music plays a a big part into what people find appealing. This is why artists like Nujabes and J Dilla are held in such high regard. don't know nothing about these guys but I do like hearing about how there is a system even in music that can be manipulated just like in tv and movies and online videos love hearing about things like that
Take off is the best one on this album
Besides Quavo I can’t tell the difference between take off and offset lmao
Jayded you don't listen to enough Migos then
+Jayded Takeoff has the most distinct voice out of them all watchu talking about lol 😂 Quavo has a robotic-like voice , Takeoff has a somewhat ashy/deep voice , Offset has like a normal voicd 😉
Jayded takeoff is the guy with the deep voice who looks like a lamar
But you gotta remember. He ain't left off in bad and boujee
Southern Artist are really big on quantity over quality.
Keith Campbell lol all artists , you kidding me.
Paul McCallie Nah, southern artist are more likely to put out mixtapes an albums that will have at least 18 to 27 tracks...
Paul McCallie Joey badass , Kendrick , j cole , Kanye , schoolboy etc ....
Please tell me u aint talking about OutKast?
Keith Campbell look at X.....
i dont think migos are mumble rappers
they're just fast
Everyone knows that it's an extra long album for streaming dollars, everybody milking it already
Louis Gregoire it is super long, and probably is for the sells. It doesn’t mean the album is bad. It took me a couple listens but most of the songs are really good imo
100% true about Rap Caviar. Used to love it
Dude that more life tracklist isnt correct lol. its a fake tracklist
Looool yo I was just about to look for that popcaan ft
Yeah I don't remember it being that long lmao
You used the wrong track list for Drake’s album, but great video!

Stream trolling baby rae sremmurd is on that shit too right now
Culture 1 >>>>> Culture 2
Ayy Lmao durr
*Time is Money*
I don't understand why people insist on calling Migos "mumble rap" when you can clearly understand what they are saying.
they don't even know the definition of mumble lmao
It’s the all the old heads who call everything not on a boom bap trash beat mumble rap

The Seventh Hokage.
They are basically jealous on their success. Its ENTERTAINMENT first, EDUCATIONAL like 73rd...
To inflate sales. That is all.

How it is mumble if you can understand what there saying 🤔🤔
sillymoons oo that was a reference from their song narcos so fuck off
GARITA Productions Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah(Arriba)!

Why is the Migos career so long?
Memes and good marketing. Regardless of what anyone thinks of their music, no one can deny that Migos and a lot of these newer artists know how to play the game. BOI migos are not mumble rappers- that was a big part of their appeal when culture blew up!
That's the point. It's how people dismiss them
i agree they're not mumble rappers, but you haft to admit they are pretty generic, and yes i understand that its just music to vibe too
They’re not mumble or lyrical, they’re just rappers
calebxw I agree
takeoff is so good
Facts subbed
Migos dont do mumble rap
I love your outlook on the Entertainment system. You make some very valid points. Just subbed :)
I’m not complaining about my husband Breezy’s album I play everyday 😻
Interesting! I'm in marketing and this was interesting to hear. Thanks for your insight
I'm sure SoundCloud rap had an influence.
Wow, 3 likes! I am so happy.
3:02 A good example for this is Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow on Invasion of Privacy. That song alone is why the album went gold quickly, but people don’t realise this.
That bruno mars grammy reference at the end got me to subscribe, that should've been Logics award smh
I dont' really understand it. The album gets recommended more because Spotify likes long albums so people stay longer?
Stream trolling

Well they admitted it on an interview that I'm sure you watched and that's why you know that that's their strategy. I'm not mad at it 🤷🏾♀️
Good video man, short, quick, and effective. Poped up on my recommended page
That 2016 migosthuggin was never released only a few songs
Also - don’t agree with being cool with “artists playing the system” by bringing out extra tracks to fill up dead space. Playlists/streaming and the over saturation of music from the mainstream is watering down the sound - RapCaviar is saturating the entire genre with each song being the same as the next.
Migos know many words they not stupid smh. No label 2 had 25 tracks on it.
I didn't even know that TH-cam ever said "no views"
Real Drake fans know that that's not the track list for More life
This nigga rly put up a whole fake more life tracklist lmaoooo
I was waiting 4 someone 2 talk about this, Migos put in hella work

Migos is not mumble rap 😂😂 you just don’t understand what they are talking about because your suburban 💯
This is so true. I hate vlogging, but I thoroughly enjoy Casey Neistat. He puts a lot of effort in his videos, and seems like a genuine guy.
They’re money laundering that’s why they make trap music. Their life in ATL was a trap one way in one way out.
I have a love hate relationship with #migos most of their music trash but the few diamonds there do have are bangers. Also it’s like they’ve replaced Rick Ross as hip hop ambassadors.
Dont know where the fuck you got the tracklist for More Life ... but thats not it, only about 4 songs in there are on the actual album/playlist
Can we please talk about the artists sweeping the award shows by having white ppl in the background 👀 this would be a great video/discussion to have
That's not really playing the system. It's taking advantage of your situation.
That rap vlog analogy made me what to subscribe. Very clever 👍🏾
Migos 2015 and before is the fire migos
So in other words, everyone is manipulating each other. Gotcha.
Cough cough - Drakes double album
Kids listen to these guys. They sre not rappers or you can't compare them to people like common, Kendrick, etc.
woow amazing video and yes i think the same thing about bronu
Wassup with mumble rap its lit Lyrical and mumble rappers r sick its just about who is talented and who is not
Who are all the fans of this type of music is the real question ...the listeners,of today are not the same of yesteryear the whole frequency nowadays is diff
Handsome and wealthy will forever be my favorite song by them I still bump that shit

Great analysis. I've been using these same strategies with the streaming game
Walk it like i talk it
Culture 2 was pretty much takeoff’s comeback album
How tf is migos mumble rap?
Migos r selling u the same song, if u heard one song u heard the album (that’s why u get tired of a long album)
Is the song "unique" that you showed a lost song on more life cause I've never seen it?...
People in the comments are mad that he called migos mumble rappers but that’s wasn’t the point of this video lol
Do they play Rock Paper Scissors so who will be the 1st 2nd 3rd
They suck. The songs all sound the same. Legit in everyway.
if there is too many filler/bad songs, i turn it off, great mathematics and business xD

Calling Migos mumble rappers is an easy way to spot someone that didn't listen to the album :0000. Come on Playa you can't be misinforming people
You misunderstood that line
