Ants' economy is more communal than I imagine, Idk how their investment bank can handle all this communion. However, good profits from your video! Economics rules!
Wake up, take care of pets*, chew seeds, make a mess going to the toilet, bury water in sand to increase humidity, dig some holes, lick ham, cut up ham and feed to pets*, bring home groceries in as few trips as possible. Got it. *I don’t have any children but fortunately all my pets can eat ham
Oh but the views! Honestly, I hate how people go for shock value to get views. The most shocking thing he's done is the middle finger, which is hilarious!
On your next video, can you discuss how the colony decides how to create a worker versus a soldier vs a queen? And what even determines what type is born, and who determines it?
I can explain that! Ant colonies determine castes-worker, soldier, or queen-based on nutrition, chemical signals, and environmental factors. Larvae destined to be queens are fed a richer, high-protein diet, while workers get a simpler diet that suppresses reproductive development. Chemical signals from the queen and colony regulate this process to maintain balance. Pheromones ensure the right caste ratio by influencing larval growth. If the colony needs more workers or soldiers, chemical cues adjust larval development accordingly, showing adaptability. Environmental factors, like temperature and colony size, also affect caste development. Warmer conditions may favor workers, while cooler ones may produce soldiers or queens. This flexibility ensures the colony thrives in changing conditions.
Getting bit by them just feels like you are getting stabbed by small needles, and then they turn into welts. I made some ants mad over the summer and found out quickly that they are not very nice 😂
I care! Ants are some of the most fascinating creatures on the planet! I found you (thank you, algorithm!), and subscribed almost immediately. You are very informative, and so very droll! Thank you for this offering. 💚
@@HomemadeEcosystems I think Bob would fly away in the wild to mate and set up a new colony? It’s cool how she just hangs out and helps around the house if she can’t leave.
Yes but in this setup this wouldn't work because springtails need a more humid environment, but for other ant species with also more humid needs, this would work
I'm curious to see what you will do with the new queens and even more so if you're waiting until they start flying on their own and causing more havoc then necessary potentially. 😅😅
@@HomemadeEcosystems Ohh ok, so the current queen mated before and saved it all up to keep popping eggs out indefinitely? Do colonies ever produce males?
In this setup they can't leave. In the wild all virgin queens (and males) of different colonies fly out at the around the same time to mate with males from another colony
If you live your life like these ants, you'll be successful...

Hi
My life for the queen!
I look forward to your Ant Videos like I do an episode of television btw.
Like 'The Penguin' or some shlt..

Thank you for no live feeding and no ant wars. You are a good ant dad.
Yeah I really don't like that
Oh but the views!
Honestly, I hate how people go for shock value to get views. The most shocking thing he's done is the middle finger, which is hilarious!
Yes! We also don't like that, they don't have to suffer! Thanks dude
Live feeding is good for ants, it helps there natural instincts kick in.
@@Loe_2.0 You volunteering yourself Charles Darwin?
that tongue disinfecting fact is actually probably the coolest thing i've ever learned about ants
Cats do it too
Congratulations Bob on your stunning transition ❤
Its rare to see ant content without 200 cliffhangers xD
Not everyone is from Canada
@@needleofsalt xD
Yes well this is not normal ant content
@PIXOgaming No its not.
You don’t talk to much I love it. I’ve been waiting for an update on this group; u awesome man
your happy voice and mood really brightens the day
The "They're just like men bringing in the groceries, all at the same time." is so true.
the sarcasm in your videos inspired me to make my own sarcastic terrarium walk-throughs on a different channel. thanks for what you do man
I genuinely like the voice over. Raw videos of ants would be bland without it.
Teased by the shovel again!!

Can you do the voice over for me next video?
The way you narrate makes this all that much better. lol
I just found your channel this week. Super intrigued! Maybe try a firm bristle brush to make sweeping ants off your items easier?
That would have been easier yes😅
The updates about the ants are one of the things that keeps me going in life.
Bob is the kinda person we all should strive to be
I amazed at how you can remember every roommate's"name. and even doing so by heart
btw, bob is my favourite
Thank you for your videos. Me and my partner love them :) Always good to cheer us up on a bad day
Thanks for watching!
POST MORE OF THESE VIDEOS!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EMMMM!!!! XD
I never had an interest in ants before…but now I’m very invested in your ant farm videos. Keep em coming!
This Bob is currently the most charismatic of all the Bobs, almost ever. ⭐
Agreed!
I miss the Bob's 6-pack music... 😂
YES!
I bet you heard it in your head
@@HomemadeEcosystems ahahahah yeah
After my man learnt Ant's take fall damage, he still proceeds to yeet them off the water tower's like mufasa killing simba
Wait, what? Mufasa killing Simba? Mufasa was the dad who died, Simba was the kid, and Scar was the evil uncle who killed the dad.
Nice glow up for Bob!
And, Tiny Shovel!!!
That was incredible. Thank you
Awesome, today is Dirt and Ants. Everyone talks about Bob, but what about Norman 🐜 or Francis?.🐜🤔
This is amazing work, man. What a great channel.
Thank goodness your voiceover started again! There I was deep in a meditation lulled by your voice and the ant flurry then suddenly...
good video brozo!
We all love Bob❤
"I'm pretty sure I buried more than zero" made me cackle
Aww no, we need your voiceover! :D Although the ants are pretty cool on their own as well.
Your ants are fascinating!
Getting bit by them just feels like you are getting stabbed by small needles, and then they turn into welts. I made some ants mad over the summer and found out quickly that they are not very nice 😂

Welcome to the channel!
TY for not doing live feedings or ant wars. Life shouldn't be extinguished for views.
Bob grew into a beautiful queen Bob ❤😊😅
i adore your voice so i missed it deeply for the bit it wasnt there
I always thought the winged ones were males who would leave the nest to find a different colony queen and procreate.
The males also have wings
I love these ant vids :D,
Make some more
Great video, I enjoyed it. 😎👍💯
Ants - always busy, always working….until they find sugared water 😵💫😊
Damn I was here for the investment content...
jk Im here for Bob
Hmm Bob is getting ready to go for a maiden flight...right into your room lol
I don't think you talk to much. You're commentary is hilarious.
Top tier ant content
Definitely love the commentary so don't talk less! It's great content :)
me too
I've been bit by black ants once, it's more amusing than anything else
Bob sure is fancy. What makes an ant a "virgin queen"?
they are queens with wings that haven't mated yet
@@HomemadeEcosystems Are there plans to set Bob up on a date?
@@HomemadeEcosystems I think Bob would fly away in the wild to mate and set up a new colony? It’s cool how she just hangs out and helps around the house if she can’t leave.
Winged Bob!!

Lol, bob is always in the way.
I wonder if a mini leaf blower would get those ants off stuff
Their bites are not really that bad but the majors are a different story
Tbh I was expecting Bob to be a soldier ant
cute ants with wings
Wow, Bob looks so fancy! :3

hey! the music & editing during the non-talking part! you shd do a little of that in every video i think.
Virgin Queen Bob.
Good name for a punk band.
They're so differANT indeed
Bob is looking for a new house soon to be a queen of all worker too
You’re making me want to get an ant farm
Oh no i am late 😢
But glad to see you again :D
Jokes aside, I really appreciate, that you will not live-feed them, if it is not necessary
I don't want a poor ant to have to bite your finger. But I do want to give the video a thumbs up.
Classic dilemma... Guess what I chose.

@@HomemadeEcosystems Yes, I liked. Sorry Bob.
Crying and yelling 🤣🤣❤️
Everyone needs to love, Bob… I don’t think so. I should be saying this.

About the cleaning process. Would ants be fine with detritivores (e.g. springtails) in the arena?
Yes but in this setup this wouldn't work because springtails need a more humid environment, but for other ant species with also more humid needs, this would work

What happens when the original queen of the colony dies? Does one of the fancy winged ones take over?
No, if that happens the colony dies. Those queens haven't mated so are unable to lay eggs
@@HomemadeEcosystems Ohh ok, so the current queen mated before and saved it all up to keep popping eggs out indefinitely? Do colonies ever produce males?
Anyone know what species these are? I was thinking they were a messor sp
Yep, Messor angularis!
80k likes, we can do it!!
Hoe lang heb je deze mieren
Iets langer dan een jaar
Ik heb ook mieren maar iets korter 5 maanden en ze doen het heel goed

We come into your smile when you want some fun!
Time for fire ants! and see how the life of Bob the fire ant is or isn't.
gotchu early
I once made a Homemade Ants ecosystem with plants and water.
They all died :(
did you have a queen? if not it is normal they were all dead after a few months, workers don't live longer
3RD YEẞSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS love your content
messor barbarus don't need sugar water btw
These are messor angulars but same deal I guess. I just saw them drink some whenever I gave them the tube so I thought I just let it sit in there
