Let me know what you guys think of the M4 iPad Pro, you think it's worth that price?
I pondered for hours in the Apple Store. Decided to forgo cellular to make pro more affordable. It was the screen , weight, FaceTime etc that did it for me ?
@@davidbell4949 that’s great! How do you feel about your decision?
Great/ did ponder swap for Air but didn’t feel I was actually getting any tangible upgrades I would see. I traded my mini 6. Also getting 256gb over 128 and hopefully will
Last few years longer.
Money comes and goes… that iPad looks beautiful.
This is true haha
I’ve been using an iPad Pro for a number of years as a laptop replacement. But I’m only able to do so because I am able to supplement that usage with a desktop. I’m able to get 90% of my work done on the iPad, but it’s that 10% that keeps me holding on to the desktop.
For me, that gap is down to the lack of core functionality on some third party apps and limitations with iPadOS. But it’s close and, with each year, it gets closer.
I upgraded from a 2018 to an 13” M4 with 1TB and I’m delighted with my purchase. For me, the upgraded screen, pencil, and Magic Keyboard makes the purchase more than worthwhile.
Nice! Glad you like it!
Do you ever attach it to a monitor or do you mostly just use the iPad by itself?
@@JonAdamsTech My set up does allow for connecting to a monitor…. but I do so very, very rarely. Because I’m still, functionally, working between a desktop and an iPad, if I need that bigger screen, I’d just jump on the desktop. But I have used it with the monitor and it’s acceptable. But working on that bigger monitor, for me, has the effect of emphasising some of the limitations of iPadOS - i.e. drawing attention to the fact that Stage Manager, whilst an improvement on what went before, remains a suboptimal execution of multitasking.
With the love Apple showed this iPad (first device with the M4, tandem OLED, etc), I wouldn’t be surprised if they have something pretty awesome up their sleeve for WWDC.
That’s my hope dude! If they do, you gonna upgrade?
@@JonAdamsTech I wouldn't upgrade to a Pro model. Too expensive. Just hoping any new, cool features find their way down to the regular iPads. Knowing Apple though, not holding my breath on that one!
i’m a full time college student and i’m chilling with my 12.9” m2 ipad pro for now. my ipad is my main computing device, i do all my assignments on it as well as note taking in goodnotes 6. does absolutely everything i need it to do, but i’m hoping apple does a huge overhaul for ios/ipados 18 at WWDC next month, im very happy with my ipad but even as a last gen model its overpowered for what it can actually do. i’d love to see some sort of macos/ipados hybrid come out to actually make it feel “pro”.
I’d love to see that too but I don’t think they’ll overlap, they make too much money keeping them separate. How is it doing collage work on iPads, have schools caught up and allow you to upload documents and all that from iPads? That was a nightmare 10 years ago when I was in college
I have a 12.9 m2 iPad Pro. Just got the m4 13. I will say that Dolby Vision videos in Netflix look really beautiful on the new OLED display. Is it worth the money over my mini LED? After watching Dolby Vision content… it’s going to be hard to go back. I can totally see m1/m2 mini-LED owners holding off… I’m giving it another week and doing some side-by-side comparisons, But I think I’ll be keeping this despite the breathtaking cost. I use my IPad daily for watching shows and movies…
Hey as long as you have the budget for that who can blame you, it’s a gorgeous screen! And you can sell the other iPad and put that money toward the new one
"I recently switched from an iPad Air 4th gen to the 11” Pro, and for me, the jump to the M4 chip, 256GB storage, and the new display was totally worth it. While I miss the compatibility with my old folio keyboard and Apple Pencil, the price comparison between the 256GB Air and the Pro upgrade now feels like a fair deal. It seems like Apple isn't just increasing the price without offering consumers a real upgrade."
Yeah if you’re coming from something really old it’s worth it. For me going from the m2 it isn’t but I upgraded anyway haha
I agree, but with the content you provide it kinda gives you the green light to upgrade. I enjoy the content you provide ! 👍’d & subscribed.
@@superwhite1991 if you have the budget then go for it it’s awesome but if you need to worry about your budget the m2 is still such an incredible iPad!
@@JonAdamsTech Absolutely!
I’m still rocking a M1 iPad Pro & it’s still running great from the 1st day I purchased it. It’s def my “Go To” device & I’m still completely happy with it. WWDC 24 will decide for me if upgrading to the M1 is worth it 🤔 Thanks for the great review Jon 👍🏾
Yeah man, I'm really looking forward to seeing if they do anything cool with ipados! If you upgrade from the m1 will you go m4 pro or go to the air?
@@JonAdamsTech Oh definitely the M4 iPad Pro!
i always loved the ipad, as someone who doesnt work with it im more than happy to use it when traveling, couch, bed... worth it specially if you keep it years.
Nice! Which iPad do you have?
@@JonAdamsTech m4 13 hehehe
I have a dedicated Windows laptop at home and I am using iPad Pro to remote into it when I need to do some “specific work”, can I do those works on the iPad? Yes. I really like the hybrid experience with the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard, I upgraded to 13” yesterday and its great, I might downgrade the iPhone Pro Max to Pro because I am doing more and more on the iPad.
That’s awesome!
Unless you actually need 120hz just get an iPad Air m2 13” instead of the old pro because it’s gonna get more software updates than that older pro
That’s true but in the mean time that 120hz display feels nicer for some folks. I think it’s awesome that there’s an iPad for everyone’s different value propositions
Great video, pastor! I tried the iPad pro M4 for a week (as an upgrade to my mini 6) …the PRO was AWESOME but for my light use cases, in my conscience, I couldn’t justify the price. I also tried the Air M2 and LOVED it as well (especially at the cheaper price). I pulled the trigger and upgraded the mini 6 to the iPad Air M2. Ended up paying $299…I’ll miss the mini 6 but I got a great deal… this air M2 is a BEAST and will last longer than the mini 6. No regrets after a couple of weeks. Looking forward to getting the pencil PRO (I use the ipad to take notes at Church).
That's awesome man! I think you made the right decision! Are you going to sell the mini 6 or did you trade it in?
@@JonAdamsTech I got the trade-in credit applied to it. 🙌🏻 I appreciate the quick and easy trade-in program even if I get a bit less $ for it.
Just got the m4 13in cellular 1tb so glad for it. I use it and don’t have any computer at home
Dang that’s awesome! Do you find iPadOS clunky at all or are you completely used to it?
Honestly for what I use it for it’s perfect. I text on it, email, read bible prepare parts for church. Search web, movies TH-cam so I’m good
@@24hrstolive27 That's great, glad you found the one that works for you!
After my GCSEs I’m looking to buy an iPad Pro, and I’m not sure between getting the 13 inch or 11 inch, if I were to get the 11 inch I was wondering if it is worth also getting a monitor so I could use an external keyboard and mouse with the monitor and iPad while at home at my desk, but then I could just use the iPad when I’m at school for example. What do you think? Is there any point also getting a monitor, and should I go 11 inch or 13 inch?
I’d go 11 with a monitor. Using the external display when you’re home is a game changer!
@@JonAdamsTech ok. I’ll get the 11 inch then and if I need a monitor I’ll get one
Great video! I made the decision to stick with my 2018 iPad Pad Pro. May end up purchasing if some major changes at WWDC. I would’ve been more apt to upgrade if didn’t require having to buy new keyboard and pen.
For sure, I think you’re making the right decision!
My issue with the ipad atm is that for the most part the M4 is largely window dressing. I want to see some applications that can utilize all of that power. Speaking as a musician running an M1, I can throw literally anything at it without it breaking a sweat so I'm struggling to think of a best use case for the newer model. Of course the new oled screen is fantastic but that alone does not justify the price tag. Great video & overview.
Totally agree! I’m a worship pastor so I use the iPad for all of our music stuff and the m2 pro handles everything without any hiccups at all, hard to make the decision to upgrade to this if those older ones work so well. Thanks for checking out the video!
I have a M1 ipad pro 12.9 and no plans to upgrade to newer ipads pros M4.
Reason :
I can do all that i needed in the M1 ipad pro and i love the miniLED . Just for OLED screen, Function keys available in magickeyboard, little light weight, i dont feel the need to waste unecessary heavy money for a tablet. Also the software are big down side in ipad.
My future plans :
I would prefer spending heavy money on a Macbook Pro M4 when it releases as it has all the PRO softwares needed for serious works.
Thanks for the Great video as always Jon 🙏
Yeah I’m really excited to to see what the m4 chip can do when it’s in a bigger machine!
The screen alone is worth the price. After trading the old device in and assume using it for 3 years it’s less than 50 cents a day for the best OLED display in the world.
How much did you trade yours in for? I agree the display is absolutely amazing but the m2 pro looked amazing as well.
$100. Very old iPad. Got the base 11” pro m4. $799 because edu and 100 trade in / (365*3) Actually 73 cents a day. I was gonna trade on another iPad that was $300 that would have made it 54 cents a dat use
If you’re IPad is a 2021 or newer your kind of wasting money on this IPAD Pro I bought this IPad and found out that it wasn’t any different from the 2021 Pro I have The 2021 is almost as thin as this new IPAD and speed was still good If you’re debating whether to buy this IPAD Pro save yourself some money if you’re using a recent IPAD I learned and took mine back
Totally agree!
I have an m2 and my m4 is freaking crazy bro. Battery is crazy. Display is crazy 1000 nits and i play call of duty warzone for hours and this bitzxch doesn’t get hot at all. My m2 would tell me to wait until ipad has cool down after like 30 40 minutes.
That is crazy, you’d think with a more powerful chip in a smaller body it would be the opposite, sounds like some apple magic to me haha!
@@JonAdamsTech its the efficiency cores and and the apple logo and stuff like that. They knew what they were doing on this one
@@tazerz9 yep!
Hey jon, As a student i am contemplating if it is worth it to spend the extra money for that tablet compared to the budget air, as i have a budget for either the m4 11 inch pro or the m2 13 inch air.
After testing in the apple store, i found that the smaller 11 inch doesnt suit me well, as i have big hands, however, compared to the 13 inch air, i figured that it will sustain smooth performance for another 5ish years or so.
But for your personal opinion, should i sacrifice screen size for performance or performance for screen size?
Depends on what you’re studying in school and if you’re more into hand written notes or typed notes? Let me know!
Hi as an individual with a physical disability, I use iPads and touchscreen as my main computing device. I absolutely love the 11 inch iPad Pro with a tandem OLED screen keep in mind that the 11 inch never got the mini LED so for those of us that use the 11 inch, it is a huge upgrade
That’s awesome man, glad you found something that works for you!
Great video. I’ve had mine for 2 weeks now and I’ve totally enjoyed it. For my purposes, it’s definitely able to replace my MacBook…
That’s awesome! Glad to hear it!
Returned mine after a day, isn’t worth the price tag if you’re expecting to be able to edit photo/video… Files app sucks.
It’s the freaking worst
@@JonAdamsTech why can’t I ‘safely’ remove an external drive on a $2000 tablet?
Appreciate the content!
I think the M4 iPad is an amazing piece of tech but as you touched on... Given the price, I think I will stick with my M Series older iPad (I have the M1). I will always need a laptop / desktop for my workflow and the iPad cannot do all those things so better for me to hold on to my M1 and generally run 5 year upgrade cycles. This tech will treacle down at some point. Shame the new magic keyboard can't be used with older iPads.
Lastly I run a tight budget but with how I work I think I can squeeze in a laptop + older iPad for around 1,600 (wether that is dollars or pounds). Key to that is holding out and getting say an M1 iPad instead of an M2 or later on an M2 instead of an M4. That keeps me good for a few years. But can't condone spending more than that on one iPad.
Yeah I think you’re doing things the right way. The fact that cheaper devices can do the same thing as current ones really makes it hard to recommend buying brand new.
just brought the iPad M4 11in 256gig celular version, which is a sweet spot as it is still lightweight and portable like the iPad Mini 6 but far more powerful.
The M4 13in was too big for portable use & too expensive, in my opinion.
l won't upgrade for another 4/6 years😀😀
Nice! You’re gonna love it, it’s such a great iPad! What kind of work do you do where you needed the cellular option?
Thanks for checking out the video!
@@JonAdamsTech Sometimes l am in places which has weak WiFi so it is handy to have iPad celular availability as l generally dont hotspot to my phone.
As I won't upgrading for 5/6 years I can use celular on ipad when l am out and about independently of my cell as I have 10 gig data plan per month on ipad for only £40 a month over 36 months for both this new iPad Pro 11in and 10gig data😀 after 3 years I can always cancelled data plan and just use WiFi with my new iPad😀
@@DrPositive1 that’s a solid plan!
As a full time student, having an ipad really helps. Unfortunately, not all of us can afford a tablet. Wish someone would just give me one as a donation 😭
Haha that’s the dream right there!
Here's a better idea. Skip the Pro and buy the Air, which will do the same things and have the same experience, for nearly half the cost.
You should watch my other videos, thats the exact thing I recommend people do!
M4 iPad Pro 2
Sounds like a movie sequel!
At £1300 - it needs to do everything I need it to do..... say no more.... IOS is the issue, not the iPad... it was powerful 2-3 years ago... functionally its no better than an iPhone
I agree
