Metallica are the reason I'm alive today. Their music has helped me so much with my depression and anxiety. I'm so glad to have all of this great music.
Because I'm much more of a hard rock fan than a heavy metal fan, this is my favorite Metallica album. I know all the hardcore thrash fans hate it, but to me, this album shows a lot of musical growth and that they were able to do more than just really fast and heavy thrash songs. It's a nice change of pace from their earlier material.
Rock music is easy to make, but they should have stuck with what they were "good" at I think... I dont think this could be really be considered growth, just opportunistic ... though its good rock
@@doomzillah rock music is easy to make, good rock music is extremely difficult to make. There’s really only a handful of bands that ever made music worth mentioning.
you just nailed my thought! this is exactly what I think about this album. I was confused when they told me that they wanted to go back to their "roots" with st Anger. For me, Load, Reload, Metalica "the black album" are among the best records of the 90"
My favorite Metallica album by far. I remember bleeding me, and until it sleeps getting me through my lowest point thus far, which was like January-February of 2023, dealing with grief and all sorts of emotions a high school teen deals with. I’m grateful to have this album with me wherever I go. I’d be so lost without it. Long live Metallica.
*Kill 'Em All* - Low quality production, decent songwriting, great riffs, heavy and fast *Ride the Lightning* - Best guitar tone, heavy, fast, dynamic, melodic *Master of Puppets* - Heavy, loud, fast, dynamic, iconic *...And Justice for All* - Heaviest guitar tone, best vocals, heavy, fast, best drumming, cool riffs *Metallica [Black Album]* - Heavy, dynamic, iconic, great riffs *Load* - Awesome metal and rock record, great songwriting, iconic *ReLoad* - Heavier than Load, great riffs, awesome vocals, strong *St. Anger* - Underrated, raw, strong, raging, loud *Death Magnetic* - Loud, powerful, thrash comeback, awesome drum track, heavy guitar tone, clean but strong vocals, heavy *Hardwired... To Self Destruct* - Dark songwriting, diverse, fantastic quality, great vocals, melodic
+Hammer of Justice Crushes You OVERPOWER I mean the subject matter wasn't the deepest, hence why the lyrics don't make much of an impact. But songs like Whiplash and Seek and Destroy were written really well in my opinion
Dominic Paraan Yeah, I'm not at all saying it was bad, but the lyrics, when compared to later releases, weren't the deepest. My favorite song on the album, Motorbreath, rhymes nothing with nothing. I still really really love the album. It's a hard-hitting and all around amazing debut
Load what controversial masterpiece, Metallica ignored all the momentum from previous success and metal cliches and delivered a mature ,soulfull ,experimental gem ,loved Load back in the time ,still love it ,for me it's proof that Metallica are true artists
I hated this album so much when it came out. I was expecting old Metallica, and got Load.... Well nearly 20 years later I've made peace with Load. It's awesome.
+adam dib I think Load is a piece of gold in comparison with St. Anger or Lulu, but in comparison with older Metallica albums, it is a piece of fool's gold. It is more than 20 years ago that it came out - I don't think I'll ever like it.
Renato Pascon same shit 4 me i waited to get load and got day it came out like I had all albums since justice for all...I actually got to see the master of puppets tour grateful but yeah I almost cried when I played the load album 1st time but few hundred beers later I was like fucking A man its different but bad ass!! just takes some growing on ya like lots of bands did for me...my buddy used to play the cult 'electric' album I HATED those bastards I was all metal ya know and low n behold to this day that album electric would be one of my top 5 all time I'm not alone either rolling Stone polled lots of bands yrs ago and they all had it in their top 5 to much much under rated album to...anyway rock on dudes!! lol
@@RISINGDRAGON557 I dont rly mind the 'change' in their style. I mean even though its not the same as the previous stuff, who cares? Its good, no? Its still metal.
Was my first metallica album also at 15. I'd only ever heard Am I evil before that which is a complete contrast. I literally played this album every day. Side a. Flip cassette, side b. At the time everyone was all up the black albums arse. Black album was album but burnt out too quick lol. Every song on Load is still gold.

You know Todd in the Shadows? Trainwreckords? He posted on Reddit asking for ideas for disastrous metal albums. Load came to mind. Wanted to give it another chance, in case my taste had changed. It hasn't. No shade if y'all like it though. I don't like Metalica to begin with, and I love Alice in Chains, so Metalica doing Alice, that was always going to be a hard sell. @@RobertLansing-mg8kc

Coming back to this album with a mature ear is essential for those of us that grew up with Metallica and the like. I remember this album being slated but it has aged very very well. There is a place For Load in my hectic adult life. Something i couldnt see and took for granted as a thrash-obsessed teen. I am so very grateful this still exists. too many things in life are gone by the time you realize how valuable they are.
such a true statement....I remember the band cutting their hair and going mainstream, even stopped listening to them for a long while...but thankfully i decided to give the "newer stuff" meaning after the black album another chance and found some really awesome GEMS along the way...just wanted to say thanks to every member ever involved with Metallica bcz you guys have been such a huge part of my 45yr life and hopefully i get to hear your talents another 45yrs atleast.....THANK YOU METALLICA!
The lyrcs are better than "I'm madly in anger with you" and "Shoot me again, I ain't dead yet", that's for sure, but there are plenty of reasons why someone wouldn't like this album. Doesn't have to do with IQ. And if you think good lyrics alone are reason enough to like a music album, then you must be pretty low IQ yourself.
Nearly 15 years ago was listening to this on way to download festival to see Metallica for second time love this album not their heaviest but chock full of great guitar riffs.
I love it when people have favorite albums that are not the typical answer. Most people would say Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning or the Black Album and thats completely legit, but I love seeing people that give different answers. My favorite album is "...and Justice for All" and sometimes people look at me weirdly for that XD Until it Sleeps, Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn are amazing songs from this. People give it shit for being the sellout album, but its still great.
I agree...in their concerts, they hardly play songs from these two albums and almost none from St Anger album, except for All Within my hands in Charity concerts.
@@Paul07791 considering metallica changed their image without any real consequence I think it's safe to say that image is less important than you think
@@breakfaith3031 okay, I think we're trying to argue two sides of a quote which has little thought behind it to begin with. That the quote itself is a defensive reaction to changes in both sound and image, shows some level of consequence.
Incredibly Retarded Turtle ohhhhhh idk if immma take advice from someone with overwatch pfp. You seem like the kind of person that thinks overwatch is still good
+Master Pontius Huh, interesting. I bought this CD when it came out years ago, and never really got into it like previous Metallica albums. It ended up collecting dust somewhere. Just recently I was watching some Metallica documentaries and I think they had some short clips of some of these songs from Load and afterward they just stuck in my head for a couple days. Took me a bit to realize oh yeah, those are from Load... Started listening again and don't know why I didn't like it back then. I guess I was expecting old Metallica. Maybe being older this just sounds better to me now.
You get to understand this album once you find out that life is a terrible burden we all gotta bear. That's when this music connects with you on a personal level. This is by far the most sincere and painful Metallica record; probably not the best, but still a great album, and it surely doesn't deserve all the hate it's got.
Damn, that sounds so pessimistic I feel like life can feel like a burden sometimes, but sometimes it feels so damn good to be alive and being able to listen to this masterpiece 🤘 Be thankful for life, my brother... And fight for your dreams to come true so you can have a more meaningful life. One that would make you wake up inspired everyday!
This is when I left Metallica. Lame. I bought everything before this. Listened to Black album once all the way through. Then I was thorough. Those first albums were just to hood
***** Funny how fans are trying to explain why they hate or love some albums, over and over again, like other people really care about it hahaha. When it comes to Load, most of them don't even know what to think, so they simply compare it to their best and worst Metallica album.
Jeez, I remember when the music video for "Until it Sleeps" came out, around 1996 or so. I was about 9 and I remember it creeped me out to no end. Didn't stop me from going to Coconuts (if anyone remembers that store) and buying "Load" on CD.
Talk about an album that aged well. Mainstream media and fans are like "Oh, Load was the beginning of the end". Just shut up. Until it Sleeps, Bleeding Me, Mama Said, Thorn Within, The Outlaw Torn: PURE JEWELRY.
I don't get why people love Black but shit on this. Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, Wolf and Man. Maybe God That G Failed and Don't Tread On Me are the notable ones from that. In contrast there's Hero of the Day, Mama Said, King Nothing, Until it Sleeps and especially Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn
Currently listening to the whole album. As a new Metallica fan, i've heard everything but Load & Reload (as a whole, i've heard separate songs), and Lulu. Have to say: this album is criminally underrated. The groove from the songs in this album is insane: 2x4, King Nothing, Ain't my Bitch; the dark lyrics on Until it Sleeps, Outlaw Torn, the riffs in all of the songs, even Jason playing SLAP on Cure. Dear God. I love this album.
- I have to be honest that I skip Ain't My Bitch, sometimes 2x4, When I feel like listening to hard metal but not too loud, this album is a good choice. When you feel a bit emotional and broken from the inside and you want to rage but you are not into headbanging.
Man I remember when I first heard metallica...was some I couldn't get enough of... And now that I hear these old metallica songs they take me back to a place of being free and young dumb and not a care in the world ..just that moment I realized that the people who were part of your life growing up listening to metallica, but now some of them had left to the spirit world to young and when I listen to these songs.. they take me back to that moment where everyone WAS HAPPY 🎉... They are gone but not forgotten..RIP..to those who lost .... Metallica's the heavy metal G.O.A.T....🤟🤠👍
Этот диск изначально вышел на CD, даже его длительность затачивалась под компакт-диск. Так что - послушать на виниле было бы интересно, но это не тот вариант что задумывался.
This album is a masterpiece: And I was so stupid back in 1996 when I was denigrating it. Stupid like every narrow minded metalkid is, as he often tends to lose the best rock releases ever. This is a brilliant album: fine arrangements, powerful groove, intelligent lyrics, clean and potent production...Everything fits perfectly into this album. A perfect example of artistic and human maturation of a great band that ever evolves itself, ever ahead of its time, and often not understood by many for this fact.
You must have a frog in your pocket. That lumping everybody together sh*t is a bad look, take it outta your mouth cause I knew this album was awesome the day I bought it... the day it came out.
Certainly is the best Puddle Of Mudd album. (And I like and have many Puddle Of Mudd's cds) but this is NOT the best Metallica album, it's a totally different genre of music. And bands like Puddle Of Mudd and those comparable did this genre better, as is often the case when a band tries to do a different genre than they were born to. He cannot do this genre vocally, and their attempts to tone down and twang their guitar work is way too obvious. They tried to be Soundgarden and it really doesn't work. But to each their own wrong opinion..lol
I feel pretty old right now, I was 14 when this album came out. Hard to believe that it's been 25 years! But with that being said, everytime I hear any of MetallicA's music I'm 5 years old rockin out to the Garage days re-revisited in East Toledo. Oh and for shits and giggles, the picture next to my comments is me at a Metallica show in Denver in 2017.
The hate grew from their new appearance and less "Metallica" sound that both this and Reload had at the time. I thought both albums where done very well and it gave a look at what else they could sound like. And on't get me wrong...every time i think Metallica it will always be Justice and older.
we felt that way about AJFA.... then it grew on us... the music didn't change.... we changed and as we grew up we found out they'd been writing music for us that would speak to us 10 years later... VERY, VERY FLOYD in that regard.
I felt the same. The album just didn't resonate with me at all when it came out. I was in my mid-20s expecting more melt-your-face thrash from Metallica but I felt like this album was stuff made for 50-year-olds going through a middle-aged crisis or some shit. Today I like it, the music resonates with me because I'm now a 50 year old! LOL
@@emedel5772 agreed 100%, I'm 48 and couldn't have said it better . Add the fact that any new music is garbage and we grow with the old stuff that seems new , aka I just rediscovered animals album by Floyd , I was 4 when it arrived and never could grasp it but now I play it once a day like it was written a month ago :)
@@blacklotus3205 What's wrong with those songs? I know that they are overplayed which is annoying, but that doesn't change the facts that they are beautiful. I still remember how astonished I was by James' vocal performance on those, so different from everything he was capable of before.
I agree. 14 songs is too much for any album and it makes it feel like a slog to get through despite the majority of great tracks on there. 8-10 songs max on an album is plenty. 12 at a push.
If any other no name band released this album they would be praised to heaven and back. But considering that a thrash metal band made this, it just got stomped by the thrasher community.
reiner bergkamen mostly because metallica, a thrash band, took another turn to hard rock style instead of sticking to its roots. and people who liked their earlier albums don't like the slower tempo songs
+reiner bergkamen load and reload are amazing albums, the thing is; Metallica never shouldnt be playing that sound, it should be played by any other band but not metallica, one of the reason cause alot people hate those albums is because it represents how they left behien the roots and and saled them selfs to the mainstream U_U !!!
This album is more true to Metallica than people realize. Those who say it's not Metallica aren't real Metallica fans and why? Because it expresses the anger and darkness of life, in a spiritual sense... which not a lot of bands do the way Metallica does it and they have always been good at doing that. Until It Sleeps is a great example of my point. It is a classic song. Satanic but real. Not some bitchy thrash band trying to sound hard. Real spiritual darkness. Not trying to act tough though. A song about how evil hurts the soul and inflicts the soul. Whether we like it or not. This whole album is an example of the darkness of life, the evil that lurks in us all that seeks release. But it is also a balance between good and evil. Like most their albums. It is about the darker aspects of life in a very an true sense. Without all the try hard wanna be tough guy BS that most Metal Bands have in their music.
Robbie Birt I agree, if ur a fan of metallica you will appreciate all there music, lulu is an exception but it's the things they had to do to each album so people Will still like them as I do. But no Matter what metallica still rocks and is and will be my favorite band always
@@redneckmetalhead7768 No, no no. That's the worst way a "fan" can ever think! Forcing yourself to like everything a band does just because they are that band is utterly foolish. You should hold your favourite bands to standards and be vocal when they don't meet them. I'm not talking about style, but quality. I love Load, and always have. A change of style was never the issue, but along came St Anger and Death Magnetic and the quality in both songwriting and especially production took a nosedive. In fact Death Magnetic has one of the worst productions I've ever heard from a band at that level and they should be ashamed of it.
In a way I'm glad Metallica made an album with a sound like this. A lot of bands only procude 1 type of album with all the same concepts and ideas as their previsous albums. This on the other hand is something different. It makes me capable of listening to my favorite band in situations I normally couldn't. and it just shows what awesome musicians metallica has that they're able to pull this off.
To be fair though, Metallica has progressed in sound up to this album. Every album getting tighter and more polished as they grew as a band. Personally, I don't care for anything after this. Except Death Magnetic, which to me sounds like the style of Justice with the polish of Load. But every album up to and including this one was a step up from the previous one.
Load is an absolutely incredible album. Think of it this way: Metallica essentially disbanded after AJFA and reformed as a heavy metal band. Made one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time in the black album. Then they disbanded again and reformed as an alternative/hard-rock band. And made one of the greatest albums in that genre too. All this, after obviously creating thrash metal masterpieces in the 80s. They have literally made GOAT albums in 3 different genres. Absolute geniuses.
@@figu6ka379 I suggest you search Daryl Gardner's STANGER2015. Some dudes literally re-recorded the whole of St Anger. With a much better production it actually sounds pretty fucking decent. I'm not even sure what genre it is. It's a pretty unique album that with better production could have been an equally good part of Metallica's discography.
@@figu6ka379 Well you're free to dislike it, but objectively I don't think it's bad. It's like Whitney Houston for me. She has the most musical awards out of any female singer in history. So it would be quite foolish to say she's objectively bad. But I'd personally never listen to her because I don't like that style. At the same time I can recognize she was talented and there's a reason her music got so much appreciation.
Why is it sad? Why does it matter to you so much that people like the same songs as you? I'm sure there are plenty out there who love Hero of The Day, but ask yourself why you get so sad if you don't hear people praising it?
Hero of the day is one of me and my Brothers favorite songs. Its funny how you bend the lyrics to fit you life, the song was play during a bad event in our lives but on a positive note is was the official album of that summer and our Frio river trip. Loved the album and I was a big fan of the first 3 albums, IMO it was really good.. Yes its very underrated, kick ass song.

One of the most underrated albums of the 90´s. In fact it is one of the greatest heavy rock albums of that era. It is amazing how Metallica changed their original style and did it right.

Same thing happened with LP. They started out as metal with hints of a softer underbelly. Their first three studio albums, Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes to Midnight, were pretty heavy and strong. Then nearly every fan did an about face when A Thousand Suns came out because it took a softer approach but in my opinion it's the best album they ever did.
one of the best albums of the 90's, memorable through and through. the new stuff metallica puts out sounds like either a kid or a robot made it, no soul.
I was a first grade university student in Tokyo, living alone. Everyday, I listened to this album, again and again. At that time, I was not so happy. But now, I can listen this music with not bad mind. I deeply... how can I explain this feeling?
Metallica is one of my favorite bands.. I am a true fan.. this means I love EVERY single song.. not just one album or two. I love all of the albums. James's voice is so freaking deep and rich.. I LOVE THIS BAND!!
You're only missing a bunch! Garage days visited, KILL EM ALL, garage days re visited, RIDE THE LIGHTNING, creeping death ep, MASTER OF PUPPETS, garage days re- revisited, AND JUSTICE FOR ALL, METALLICA, LOAD, RELOAD & you might remember the rest. I have more than 30 different recordings by our Lords of THRASH METAL, so you need to BOW or you'll be beheaded!!!!
When i was a teeanger, Master and Lightning was my favorite Metallica album. Now im grown man and my favorite Metallica album is Load and Reload. Now i understand how masterpiece these albums are
Load was simply a product of its time. Thrash had had its time and many many bands had recorded that style. Metallica would have sounded stale if they had tried to recreate their 80s sound. I'm glad they moved forward and experimented with the newer sounds. And while Load isn't thrash, there's no denying a lot of the songs on it are really heavy. Load has grown on me a lot.
Ehh as a kid these songs were everywhere, I barely knew what thrash Metallica was like, as a teen exploring metal more it became plainly obvious to me what happened here…Metallica sold out. Like way fucking sold out. I’m sorry I could still enjoy this and still admit the music got simpler, slower, and cleaner. You got like one-two riffs per song for a long time after Justice. Idk what happened, my only guess is they thought justice was ultra complicated and maybe ultra complicated just didn’t sell. Idk. I’m glad these bluesy albums are here, but I think they’d be better if Het didn’t sound like shit. The singing brings it all down at least a point with corny radio friendly lyrics…
@@stevejones148 Het was going through really hard times in his life after The Black Album, I give him a pass for his shortcomings there. Songwriting has always been Metallica's weakest value ever since Cliff died. I do enjoy the catchy feel of songs like Sandman or King Nothing, but like you said, they're ultra simple. Hard to fault a band for not wanting to write 10 minute long progressive epic compositions. In the context of the mid to late 90s though, the albums do sort of make sense. Thank you for your thoughts.
@@mc12358 I mean tbh I might enjoy more songs in total on Load and Reload than Kill ‘‘em all and ride the lightening it’s not really the super heavy aggressive style that pulls me in necessarily. Maybe I could explain it like this, I love Iron Maiden, I feel they have never compromised their sound and their sound is uniquely complicated and epic. Steve Harris is easily the best writer metal has ever seen. Metallica had a great run where they were on par almost as 1b with Puppets and AJFA. The difference is Metallica has two epic metal albums (I’d even say 3 bc of love hardwired) and Maiden has like 10. That’s a tremendous gulf.
another guy on Flocka! What the heck? The album is good, the voice of the singer is extremely well produced and sounds amazing. The main focus of the songs is not on the riffs of the guitars, that's obvious by listening to the record und how it was produced. The drums patterns are quite standard and dreary. It´s definitely not one of the best records of the band.
Ever since this album came out I've been in the super-minority of people who think this is a solid album. Damn near every track is a banger! Great musical diversity, great mixing and great layout. Great music and great, memorable lyrics. I give LOAD a solid 99/100.
Why do people say this album is so bad, like if it were some thrash and not the most amazing metal band of all time? This album is pure Metallica after all, its riffs made classic proved by the time itself
They are wasting their hate. But seriously it is a common trend. Liking things for what they were and hating on change seems to be a trend of the times we live in.
Load/ Re-Load should have been one album- 1. Ain't My Bitch 2. Fuel 3. Memory Remains 4. House That Jack Built 5. Unforgiven 2 6. King Nothing 7. Hero of the Day 8. Bleeding Me 9. Until It Sleeps 10. Carpe Diem Baby 11. Low Man's Lyric 12. The Outlaw Torn
+sbbjusticeleague Haha I too have my own playlist for how I think Load/Reload should've gone. We definitely have a lot of overlap in the first set. Here's mine: 1. King Nothing 1. The Outlaw Torn 2. Fuel 2. Fixxxer 3. Ronnie 3. Wasting My Hate 4. The Unforgiven II 4. The House Jack Built 5. Hero Of The Day 5. Bleeding Me 6. Attitude 7. Until It Sleeps 8. Cure 9. 2x4 10. Carpe Diem Baby 11. Mama Said 12. Low Man's Lyric 13. Devil's Dance 14. Poor Twisted Me Don't know which one is Load or Reload but either way I think these songs work way better in these two sets then what was put out.
I truly believe that if Load & Reload had been halved and condensed into one album it would be held in just as high regard as the Black album. The problem with these albums isn't that the songs are bad, it's that 50% of them are filler. I'm an 80's Metallica guy, but only idiots say their 90s work has no merit. Some of their best songs are from this era.
I never noticed certain things about this album until older (like 20 years older). Jame's voice is really good in it. Lars has great drum tone. Kirk's solos are original and really fit the songs (no filler). Jason really fits the band well here. This album actually has a lot going on for it. My favorite track might be Until it sleeps.
+Vampira's Daughter- Nah, I listened to it secretly when I was a kid, and now being 29 I'll argue that this album is really good. Now I prefer it over "Black" and this is coming from a "first four" fan. I don't really dislike "Black", and the recording of 'BA' is legendary, one of the last masterpieces of the analog recording era. 'Justice' (my fav) changed my life and made me pick up guitar at 7-8 (I had an older half bro who played guitar and turned me on to them early on). Metallica created my never ending love for metal that has evolved for over 22-23 years. Now more into the techy death metal stuff, but around the time I turned 25 I learned to appreciate music for what it is (stopped be so brvtz and "serious metal guy" and laid back), actually sat down and figured out what makes a good album/song to me, no matter the genre. Now I listen to numerous genres all over the span of music history (cept country, that said I still can appreciate the outlaw era of country.... but like "Mamma Said"???? huh???). So much music in the world (of all genres/sub genres etc) to limit yourself. Sure its great to have a preference and opinion, but it helps to break it up. I found that when I'm studying all week listening to the malt shop, golden oldies of the 40-50's, I appreciate the insanity of Spawn of Possession much more, and keeps it fresh. Plus, being well rounded in musical knowledge helps expand creativity while playing guitar. Sorry for the book response, this album always pulls that explanation out of me. Can't stress enough how much Metallica helped give my life direction early on. .....also - If 'Load' were released as a side project or as a one off I believe it'd have been better received, pretty much how I see it. - 'ReLoad'.... THAT's when they lost me. 'St. Anger', regardless of the less than great (abysmal) songs, the production makes it trash (can, lulz), imo, instantly. Death Magnetic gets an A for at least sounding like they actually tried (still not much a fan of it) but I doubt I'll ever get an extension of 'Justice', which is what I'd like to hear.
This album was completely shitted on when it came out but it's actually a really good album that has aged very well imo...Nothing compares to the first 4 albums but they grew from that old thrash foundation into a more melodic sound that was a very hard transition for the original fanbase.
@@tylurmackinnon6217 I don't understand your insult, enlighten me. Are you saying I'm a hipster because I didn't include The Black Album as part of their original thrash albums?? It's not. That was the transitional album for the band that led to Load/Reload. I love all Metallica, sans St Anger period, so I don't get your "show me how to hipster"
Saying this sucks because its not "metal" the way Metallica used to be, is like saying my truck sucks as a truck because it turned into a car. Its not supposed to be metal anymore, and you cant compare now to then. Its a deliberate change. Everybody assumes its cause they "sold out" or went too commercial. Why does nobody consider maybe they just wanted to make different music? Are artists seriously locked into 1 style of art without having the freedom to change without the general population freaking out about "selling out" or "losing it"?
***** Pop music? Really? If you call that "pop music" you obviously don't know shit about music and musical styles. They went Rock / Hard rock instead of Metal, which may appeal to a larger audience and so, be more "popular". But for fuck's sake don't ever call it pop music....
+The Sheep it's not a bad album at all load is still a lot better than anything the band slipknot has ever done after all Metallica is the best band in the world
Keep in mind, music is subjective. So perhaps this argument doesnt apply to you if you simply dislike the album. My point is directed at those people who justify hating it based on the fact its "not metal" anymore (which is most people).. If you dont like it thats fine, but to not like it because its different isn't a legit argument.

I agree! This and Re-Load were their two most musically interesting records in my opinion.
This was such a brilliant reinvention of themselves!
I hope you're in a better place now
*Kill 'Em All* - Low quality production, decent songwriting, great riffs, heavy and fast
*Ride the Lightning* - Best guitar tone, heavy, fast, dynamic, melodic
*Master of Puppets* - Heavy, loud, fast, dynamic, iconic
*...And Justice for All* - Heaviest guitar tone, best vocals, heavy, fast, best drumming, cool riffs
*Metallica [Black Album]* - Heavy, dynamic, iconic, great riffs
*Load* - Awesome metal and rock record, great songwriting, iconic
*ReLoad* - Heavier than Load, great riffs, awesome vocals, strong
*St. Anger* - Underrated, raw, strong, raging, loud
*Death Magnetic* - Loud, powerful, thrash comeback, awesome drum track, heavy guitar tone, clean but strong vocals, heavy
*Hardwired... To Self Destruct* - Dark songwriting, diverse, fantastic quality, great vocals, melodic
+Hammer of Justice Crushes You OVERPOWER Kill Em All only had okay songwriting?? Disagree bro
Dominic Paraan I see your point but the lyrics weren't the best
+Hammer of Justice Crushes You OVERPOWER I mean the subject matter wasn't the deepest, hence why the lyrics don't make much of an impact. But songs like Whiplash and Seek and Destroy were written really well in my opinion
Dominic Paraan Yeah, I'm not at all saying it was bad, but the lyrics, when compared to later releases, weren't the deepest. My favorite song on the album, Motorbreath, rhymes nothing with nothing. I still really really love the album. It's a hard-hitting and all around amazing debut
+Hammer of Justice Crushes You OVERPOWER -LULU-A PIECE OF SHIT RECORDED WITH A OLD FART!
Load what controversial masterpiece, Metallica ignored all the momentum from previous success and metal cliches and delivered a mature ,soulfull ,experimental gem ,loved Load back in the time ,still love it ,for me it's proof that Metallica are true artists

Coming back to this album with a mature ear is essential for those of us that grew up with Metallica and the like. I remember this album being slated but it has aged very very well. There is a place For Load in my hectic adult life. Something i couldnt see and took for granted as a thrash-obsessed teen.

Without all the try hard wanna be tough guy BS that most Metal Bands have in their music.
how is until it sleeps satanic?
Robbie Birt I agree, if ur a fan of metallica you will appreciate all there music, lulu is an exception but it's the things they had to do to each album so people Will still like them as I do. But no Matter what metallica still rocks and is and will be my favorite band always
Oke lah
@@redneckmetalhead7768 No, no no. That's the worst way a "fan" can ever think! Forcing yourself to like everything a band does just because they are that band is utterly foolish. You should hold your favourite bands to standards and be vocal when they don't meet them. I'm not talking about style, but quality.
I love Load, and always have. A change of style was never the issue, but along came St Anger and Death Magnetic and the quality in both songwriting and especially production took a nosedive. In fact Death Magnetic has one of the worst productions I've ever heard from a band at that level and they should be ashamed of it.
Went here just to say everyone:give a chance to Load, enjoy this album, don't be fooled by haters, this is a great work by Metallica
Fuck the haters just enjoy their music only
Timeless album.
hated load/reload in my teens but after a decade of widening my musical taste now it sounds great
Nobody ever talks about Mama Said :( What a great song!
Srikantan N how I hate this one 😅
I love really all songs in this album except this
Sad but true
it's a great song, but the country guitar in the chorus is fucking awful. It ruins an otherwise amazing track.
My favorite song in the whole album
In a way I'm glad Metallica made an album with a sound like this. A lot of bands only procude 1 type of album with all the same concepts and ideas as their previsous albums. This on the other hand is something different. It makes me capable of listening to my favorite band in situations I normally couldn't. and it just shows what awesome musicians metallica has that they're able to pull this off.
just like the stray. YOU feed it once and now it stays...
Think of it this way:
Metallica essentially disbanded after AJFA and reformed as a heavy metal band.
Then they disbanded and reformed as nu metal band, and released... One of the worst albums of the worst genre of music
@@neemnoa303 i know about stanger2015, i dont really like it just like the album itself
Bleeding Me is my absolute favorite on thus album.
Ronnie is in my top 5 favourite Metallica riffs ever. Funky blues riff combined with some of James darkest lyrics ever, its such an underrated song.
Love that riff no one ever mentions it , sounds like a riff from Crosby stills n Nash....called dejavu
Sad to see how nobody talks about Hero Of The Day, being one of their most beautiful melodic songs, plus that strong ending in crescendo...
Why is it sad? Why does it matter to you so much that people like the same songs as you? I'm sure there are plenty out there who love Hero of The Day, but ask yourself why you get so sad if you don't hear people praising it?
@@Syklonus He's not being literal you dunce, saying it's critically underrated
Hero of the day is one of me and my Brothers favorite songs. Its funny how you bend the lyrics to fit you life, the song was play during a bad event in our lives but on a positive note is was the official album of that summer and our Frio river trip. Loved the album and I was a big fan of the first 3 albums, IMO it was really good.. Yes its very underrated, kick ass song.
@@bryang1725 awwww did you and your bubby going on a road head I mean road trip! Sweetest story I've ever had of two brother driving up to broke back mountain
First song I heard from them. I was 14 when it was released as a single. Still love it.
As I grow older, it becomes easier to assume that this is my favorite Metallica album.

Hey
When i'm feeling sick or iam in bad mood, this album helps me a lot to get better. Of course i love Thrash Metallica era too, but this album helped me a lot in rough times🤘🤘
One of the most underrated albums of the 90´s. In fact it is one of the greatest heavy rock albums of that era. It is amazing how Metallica changed their original style and did it right.
Sold 600k copies first week. One of their best selling cds. Not underrated at all. You ever notice how everyone is professing their love for this cd right now? That's because it's not underrated lol
@@7James77 Yeah when it first came out and for years after it was all over the radio, I mean very popular. You would hear it everywhere, dude! Dude I remember back then hearing it in one of those spinny space ships at the state fair, it was awesome. But I feel like in hindsight as the years went on this album started to get more overlooked in favor of their older stuff.
When this album was released in 1995, it immediatly became my favourite, and I was surprised fans spat on it ! I listened to it endlessly, over and over.
So did i
It was released in 1996

Same thing happened with LP. They started out as metal with hints of a softer underbelly. Their first three studio albums, Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes to Midnight, were pretty heavy and strong. Then nearly every fan did an about face when A Thousand Suns came out because it took a softer approach but in my opinion it's the best album they ever did.
one of the best albums of the 90's, memorable through and through. the new stuff metallica puts out sounds like either a kid or a robot made it, no soul.
The House Jack Built, Until It Sleeps, King Nothing, Bleeding Me, Mama Said, The Outlaw Torn. All of them masterpieces. Anybody arguing?
No one!
the same here! exactly the same tracks I would name!!!
Thorn within too

Bleeding Me and The Outlaw Torn are in my top 10 actually

Metallica’s first four albums are undeniably their best work….but for me listening to Load/Reload is extremely comforting for some reason.
Because are good
When i was a teeanger, Master and Lightning was my favorite Metallica album. Now im grown man and my favorite Metallica album is Load and Reload. Now i understand how masterpiece these albums are
Only Load..... only Load.
As we get older we like music thats slower and not as loud as what we used to listen to.
Load and Reload are most underrated albums ever.
Not by metalica fans
@@deancrisp3596 if it makes you feel any better james didn't even wanna make these albums, it was lars and kirks idea
RIGHT?
❤
gotta agree
One of the best Metallica albums! Lyrically better than probably every other album!
another guy on Flocka!
People forget bands are composed by persons, persons change. Metallica was honest with this album.
I love this album it is a masterpiece
This album deserves WAY more credit. Haven't listened in probably 15 years or more. Heavy and groovy. Metal.
No eres
this would be a good 2021 release
Something tells me that the feeling ain´t gonna happen for st anger album ever. XD
i like this 90s deep heavy metallica sound a lot, one of better albums for me
This album is trash
Ever since this album came out I've been in the super-minority of people who think this is a solid album. Damn near every track is a banger! Great musical diversity, great mixing and great layout. Great music and great, memorable lyrics. I give LOAD a solid 99/100.
Why do people say this album is so bad, like if it were some thrash and not the most amazing metal band of all time? This album is pure Metallica after all, its riffs made classic proved by the time itself
They are wasting their hate. But seriously it is a common trend. Liking things for what they were and hating on change seems to be a trend of the times we live in.
It gave us the emo Metallica image, which tortures my soul every time I look at it.
Metallica's 1996 Load is one of the greatest hard rock album ever recorded after 25 years.

5. Unforgiven 2
6. King Nothing
7. Hero of the Day

3. Ronnie 3. Wasting My Hate
4. The Unforgiven II 4. The House Jack Built
5. Hero Of The Day 5. Bleeding Me
6. Attitude
7. Until It Sleeps
8. Cure
9. 2x4
10. Carpe Diem Baby
11. Mama Said
12. Low Man's Lyric
13. Devil's Dance
14. Poor Twisted Me
Don't know which one is Load or Reload but either way I think these songs work way better in these two sets then what was put out.
Металлика одно из самых важных приобретений человечества ❤
once again, I realize how brilliant this album is.
My favorite track might be Until it sleeps.
cant hate this album.. This is the first cassette I bought with my own money in 1996
Am I the only one who actually appreciates this album and all the albums?
Vampira's Daughter No, actually this album is one of my favourites from metallica. Cant beat justice, but still awesome peace of art.
Can't stress enough how much Metallica helped give my life direction early on.
.....also
- If 'Load' were released as a side project or as a one off I believe it'd have been better received, pretty much how I see it.
No I appreciate all the albums to I mean st anger was my least favourite album but I still appreciated it for what it is
I love this album and also like the fact that you always can rediscover Metallica.
Nope!
In this album they showed that they reached an absurdly fantastic musical maturity.
You could've stopped at absurd.
@balorama. To remind myself of the atrocity that is this album.
@@johnp82 lol. Then why you here to hear?
Well said
true, so very true
This album "Hooked" me in 96. I couldn't get enough of it. They matured as a band.
This album was completely shitted on when it came out but it's actually a really good album that has aged very well imo...Nothing compares to the first 4 albums but they grew from that old thrash foundation into a more melodic sound that was a very hard transition for the original fanbase.
I remember Load produced a TON of popular music videos on MTV, and Rock radio stations played 6 singles from this album for years.
You are so hipster to not include their most successful album. Omg show me how to hipster.
+The Sheep it's not a bad album at all load is still a lot better than anything the band slipknot has ever done after all Metallica is the best band in the world
+The Sheep cheers mate
Keep in mind, music is subjective. So perhaps this argument doesnt apply to you if you simply dislike the album. My point is directed at those people who justify hating it based on the fact its "not metal" anymore (which is most people).. If you dont like it thats fine, but to not like it because its different isn't a legit argument.
uh they really cant change with a name like metallica. metal is literally their name.
LOAD like a fine wine. If you don’t agree well then you haven’t been a fan for 30 years 🤘
Very mature metallica's album, not for those who like to bang their heads all the time
