This is one of the best instructional videos on TH-cam. Great job. Notes for anyone looking to do this: 1) The windshield wipers may require a small two-leg puller to break loose the spline (you'll see it even says "use puller" on the base of the wiper). 2) I was hesitant to do the bottom end work so I took it to my trusted local mechanic. He showed me that the sensor can be removed without dropping the drive shaft. It's tricky to be sure. He used a crows-foot type sensor wrench and an offset ratchet to break it loose. While this may not be "by the book," I thought it worth a comment. Your results may vary, of course.
Great points! I actually have that "crows foot" o2 sensor socket you mentioned. I should have tried it. I just cannot stand working in tight places though so I usually remove anything that makes sense haha. It rather spend an extra 10 minutes removing something than 10 minute struggling to reach and turning a wrench 5° at a time.
Very good instructional video bud. I work on way to many cars to be able to remember each step and little trick, even after doing the same job a couple of times. You got the video time down to around 15 minutes, which is perfectly the right amount of time to use your instructional as a refresher at lunch. Which saves me time, due to not having to think up and remember what to do next, smooths things out nicely. 👍
In my Escape, it's FWD. I see the reduced labor cost of not needing to remove the drive shaft. In a perfect world, you would have commented on that possibility, but I'm betting all the under shield details apply. I may try and skip the battery box removal and comment if I am successful. Regardless, you have produced a GREAT video!
Great video quality. In my opinion the best Ive ever seen on youtube. I retired from the industry 10 years ago and sure glad I didnt have to do any of these. However now my wife owns one and has P0141. Fun times ahead!
Tak, ale Pan porozbierał zdecydowanie za dużo. Nie trzeba demontować podszybia, nie trzeba demontować wału. Można to zrobić szybciej bez zbędnego demontażu. Troszkę za dużo porozbierane. Niepotrzebnie
Great Video Showing Very detailed Display of Many, Many little parts to Remove.Thank You For the Time it Took to Put this Production on Line. Your Explanation of Parts and Bolt Sizes Was Superb. You Deserve the U-tubes Classic Productions Award.......~♡~ "The Finest Kind"
took the whole damn car apart! just did this Job in 15 min, needed a flathead to remove air box and an O2 sensor socket and some electrical tape to pull it through, unless your getting paid by the hour use some common sense and get your vehicle working, save yourself 650$ to boot.
Yes I definitely should have also commented on the fact that this was not a bash on you or your demonstration, you did great work all around, it's just crazy that this is In fact by the book. I mostly wanted to put it out there for others watching this that there is an alternative way for whatever the individual's circumstances are.
This video was super helpful 👍🏼 I fortunately did not have to disconnect the driveshaft only the cross member I heat the sensor with a torch & was able to get it off like that thanks for this though 👍🏼
I honestly don't know how you were able to get that sensor out with such a tight squeeze, I have a cat paw with 2 swivel sockets yeah it's on but too get it to ratchet off is nearly impossible, I seriously would like to see how you did that because I am now removing the driveshaft because my hands and arms are just too big to fit in.
This is insane how the engineers engineered this engine. You could tell that engineers that bill these new engines don’t actually work on them. Day in the day out.
@ It’s always something. I was going to finish the car that day but then I stripped one of the driveshaft bolts when I almost dropped the impact driver. 🙂🙂🙂 Had to button it up while I wait for parts. Fourth try will be the one.
How long do I have to drive the car for the monitors are ok ,so I can get a sticker? I have cleared codes, and now I have a problem getting a inspection, machine says can't continue inspection,02 not ready.Help please I need a sticker, this all happened after I replaced the purge valve assembly,I cleared the purge code, now I have this problem of 02 S2 heater and 02 NOT READY????
Everything was ok with this after i cleared purge code, scanner says all ok before code cleared, the scanner says this drive cycle it reads O2 not ready? Is this a coincidence or what? Need help with this.
Did you replace the o2 sensor? Once you replace it you should be able to clear the codes and be good to go. You might have to complete several drive cycles if it's a "permanent" code. Google about how to complete a drive cycle.
Hi, I have the same problem. Neutral gear, parking disabled and the shaft rotates only a few millimeters to the right and left. The wheels at the back rotate and the effect is the same. Help.
It is utterly ridiculous that it requires this much work just to replace an O2 sensor. I know exactly why Ford designed it this way and it's for that reason that I will never buy another Ford brand vehicle, newer than 2012

I'm about to replace the bank 1 sensor 2 and removing that driveshaft looks irritating, I'm glad I found this commment.

Right on 👍

I hate the engineers who thought this was a good design. Great tut though thanks.
Omg FUCK these engineers this repair has been ridiculous 😂

Just to change the 02 sensor? Wow!
Yeah it's nuts!
That's a Ford for you

I'm currently on stage 2 and I've been cussing the whole time, I'm trying to use a catpaw Instead of dropping the whole damn driveshaft out.
Brunch of bullsh*t smh

This was the "by the book" method. Not defending it, just displaying it.

i'm hoping and wondering if this is the same for a 2013 Ford Escape SEL AWD Titanium Eco Boost 2.0L
If it's the 1.5 I'm guessing it's the same but can't say for sure
2.0 eco boost has the connector behind the motor. Easy to see once you remove the battery box
Oh nice
This is insane how the engineers engineered this engine. You could tell that engineers that bill these new engines don’t actually work on them. Day in the day out.
Yeah true
Genuine bit of confusion: the driveshaft will not rotate when in neutral, parking brake off, and rear wheels on stands. What am I missing.
Only had to jack up the front - took out the ramps, rear is on the ground. Got it. Annoying. ¯\( ツ )/¯
Glad you figured it out!

Crazy how you need to do all 😢hat to change an o2 sensor
Yeah seriously
Great video How long did this take?
I don't remember exactly. I want to say about 4-5 but I was filming.

Google about how to complete a drive cycle.
Is this the same process for a 2017 Ford Escape se 2.0?
I'm not sure if everything is exactly the same for the 2.0 but I believe it's similar
Hey, I can’t get my driveshaft to spin to get bolts out. It’s in neutral, ebrake off up on Jack stands
Try spinning a wheel. Sometimes you don't have enough to grab on the driveshaft.
If none of the wheels spin then you're definitely in park.
Hi, I have the same problem. Neutral gear, parking disabled and the shaft rotates only a few millimeters to the right and left. The wheels at the back rotate and the effect is the same. Help.
The best 👌
Thanks!
A jaki jest numer sondy lambda ? Do Ford Escape 1.5 ecoboost 2017 rok .
Idk I'm sorry
Will this be the same for the 2.0l?
I can't say for sure but probably
The connector is behind the motor once you remove the battery box but the rest is the same
🎉
Party time. Are you going to do it?
The mechanic did a great job, but all of this just to change a O2 sensor.🤦🏿♂️
Thanks!
Yeah it's a lot of work.
Ya. The 17s and 19s are different
👍

Thanks! Great video! Ford…you suck! I’ll never buy another after many! This was the deal breaker!
Haha, thanks for watching
I sure hope it take me 15 minutes
Haha you got it
Pero mínimo se cobran 2,500 dólares por este trabajo 😅
Yeah it's expensive
🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Everything in these vehicles is a joke to work on....
