Some things that actually helped to control my hairfall include: (1) I quit wearing ponytails because it causes tension damage. (2) I started massaging my hair and scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while bending over & holding my head upside down to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Protecting my head while moving out to safeguard my hair from dust and pollution. (4) Using gentle shampoo again from liittleextra only to wash my hair.

to clarify, this has nothing to do with androgenic alopecia (male or female pattern hairloss). If you have androgenic alopecia, the only treatment is nuking your dht. Blood flow is entirely unrelated to it, so is everything else mentioned in the above comment.

Diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia. Course of treatment: 5% topical minoxidil, 3000 mg pumpkin seed oil extract - oral and laser comb - 3 times a week. Results after 3 months: Hair shedding in the shower initially reduced to a few hairs per shower and now after 3 months has completely stopped. Hair regrowth in most areas of my scalp. My hair just above my forehead has become so thick I find it difficult to form a part. The areas with the most visible hair loss are starting to slightly fill in. What I didn’t anticipate: I’ve started growing hair on my face. No, the minoxidil has never touched my face. I use foam and am very precise. I have to guess it gets into the bloodstream and let the chips fall where they may. I’m happy with the results. Yes, I will have to continue the minoxidil for the rest of my life but so what. To me, it’s just another hygiene ritual like brushing my teeth or applying deodorant.

    Dr. Dray--
My first time (I think) commenting on your videos though I watch them frequently.
So I am 66. 18 months ago I began using 5% foam womens minoxidil. I saw results in 8 weeks after "some" of the dread shed. The longer I use it, the thicker my hair is. I can actually wear bangs again! In the beginning, there was a lot but fine. Now I see a thicker hair which I'm thrilled with. I'm light-skinned, blonde so my hair was always on the finer side but I had (until about late 50's) a lot. I honestly couldn't ask for better results.
Interesting note: Being fair skinned I have had to protect my skin from the sun--long before I knew it was damaging! As a result, my skin is much younger looking than most people my age! Those protecting themselves from the sun will later in life reap the benefits!
    A couple of side notes:
    1) Yes, I have to use it every day but then I bathe, brush my teeth, et. each day. Just another addition to self-care.
    2) The most interesting side note is that I have for yearssss had dry eye syndrome. I produced no tears. Within two months of using minoxidil, I had tears. Make of it what you will, but there is definitely a link.
    3) With supply chain issues and the need to use this product daily, I've considered switching to Rogaine men's 5%. From everything I can FIND, it is the same? Any thoughts?

Doing the same, unfortunately I stopped using the foam Rogaine for a couple months and could see all the new hair going back to nothing, so don't stop.
also, I used it on my eyebrows and it made it thick too👍
I tried the minoxidil liquid form but it made my scalp itchy so I changed to the foam and it stopped (I use the 5%)

@@ccrawley210 Hi there, if I'm not mistaken they target the 5% to men, I use the foam Rogaine 5% (blue bottle), the same my husband uses. I did some research and found its the same product as the women version but stronger, not sure why they target the 2% for women but what I found online is that there is no problem to women using the 5%, actually this concentration is more effective.
My only issue was with the liquid form, it made my scalp itchy. My husband's dermatologist said that you need to keep it for at least 4 hours without washing your hair, you can also apply twice a day (morning and before bedtime).
PS:I went to double check the bottle and it says: For Men, extra strength.
I saw great results, specially around my hairline with new baby hair and eyebrows.

Its easier to diagnosis and recruit participants for a study on male pattern baldness. It’s very a well-characterized condition. When you’re conducting a study, it’s very important that your “cases” (the people with baldness in this study) are similar. They could do a follow-up study in women with hair loss. They may find results that are not as convincing and that may be because women don’t respond the same way to the treatments OR because there are too many different causes of hair loss among their study participants. It’s a lot harder to get more research dollars when you present not-so-convincing study results. So starting with men is a smart option. That said, I don’t know why they only studied men. There may be many other reasons. (One example: male pattern baldness is very common, which means it’s easier and faster to recruit participants.)

Been using Dutasteride at 0.5mg every day since 2015 while also using topical Minoxidil 5% foam twice a day every day. Did this routine for a very long time and is incredibly effective for me. Recently I changed things just a little. I still use Dutasteride at the same dosage, 0.5mg every day. I now use Topical Minoxidil at just once a day while also adding/using 5 mg a day of oral Minoxidil. Been doing the oral Minoxidil for over a year now while still using the Dutasteride. I have maintained a norwood 2 for years on end. I have also been using TRT for about 10 years also. I know what your going to ask, so i will answer now. No not a single negative side effect what so ever. None , nada. The sexual side effects are countered with the TRT does. I have a somewhat feminized look to my facial structure but i have always had this even in my teenage years. I have recently thought about attempting to try the Oral minoxidil at 10mg a day. But not sure. My blood pressure is already very very good for my age. Been doing bodybuilding and martial arts my whole life and recently added running to my routine. I was usually 120 over 70 before running and before i started taking the oral minoxidil at 5 mgs a day. The running probably had an affect on the blood pressure thus lowering it, but so did the minoxidil. Im now at 107 over 70. Which is very good for my age and for the fact that I use testosterone. I may not have enough leeway when attempting to use 10mgs of minoxidil. It could possibly thicken my hair even more. I want to say that I dont think most individuals can use this potent combination without seeing some kind of negative side effects. There are probably a few others like me out there that seem to tolerate this combination very well but I am a bit of an anomaly. My age, yes I am 44 years old. I know I dont look like that from the photo, yes its a recent photo. You also do not want to use Dutasteride for long term like I did if you want to have children. I am not married and I chose also not to have kids. So like you see in the video, Dutasteride for now is king as well as oral minoxidil. The only other thing that could be of most benefit that could out do these compounds would have to be a very good hair transplant. Just thought id throw this info out there since I have long term use with both Dutasteride and Minoxidil. Hope this helps.

      @realityfighting ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@4AMPizza So the laser hat I am not really finding enough data to show that its effective enough. There seems to be some enhancement for some but it looks like a negligible amount, so for the cost of the hat which is like $700 in some cases. Just didnt seem worth it. PRP seems to work really well for some people and then do basically nothing at all for some. So again, for the cost of it $5,000 its like your taking a shot in the dark on that one. Dutast over Finast. Thats an easy one. There are some studies that show without a shadow of a doubt that Dutasteride will shut down close to almost all of one's DHT and provide a little more hair, a little more thickening over Finasteride. Recently I purchased some 10mg tablets of Minoxidil and will increase the dosage from 5mg to 10mgs here shortly to see how well I manage that dosage and to see if there is a big difference from the 5mg dose.

Hello Dr Dray I just found you and appreciate and enjoy your videos ☺️ I saw my dermatologist a few years ago for my rosatia and was amazed how I finally got control of the awful bumps and redness etc.years later I was noticing my hair thinning and was shocked 😲 and very sad and troubled needless to say, so I saw him again to address this other issue, and he said I had male pattern baldness:( I never heard of finasteride before, but he gave me a prescription for it and I began; I didn't continue using at first ( I was scared at first about side effects, and then I was unable to stick regularly for awhile until I finally began and stuck with it) I think I been on it consistently a couple years and definitely see results, but I still see thin hair pretty noticeable on crown and I really don't know if my temples are benefiting, but my Dr said it's ' stable ' I thought alot about possibly adding minoxidil or even dutasteride, but thank you for talking about all of this:). I guess all I can do is stick with my usual routine and take finasteride each day and hope it continues to fill in my thinning areas since the longer you're taking it the more likely you will see regrowth. Thanks again Dr Dray you're beautiful and wonderful 😊 have a wonderful day God bless 😘❤️🙏🕊️

Topical minoxidil only works for 30 to 40% of women. You may need a much higher dose. That was the case with me after genetic testing. I’m currently on a prescriptive compounded solution from the pharmacy and it has 7.5% minoxidil and .1% dutasteride plus melatonin and cetirizine. He can go up to 15% minoxidil. I’ve also started oral minoxidil. Maybe try upping your dose??

I am F/29 with PCOS. I use topical minoxidil on my head, and take the highly suggested birth control and spironolactone cocktail. It seems more preventative for me than actual hair-growth-inducing, which is what I want. I have the hair part thinning and frontal hairline thinning. I use root spray... at 29, yes. I have had an increase of unwanted baby hairs on my face using minoxidil, naturally, and I even use Vaseline along my hairline to prevent it - still seems to happen. I just notice I am hairier overall, even my arms. I suppose I would have worse thinning had I not invested in these 3 options. But it is still frustrating that I do not see visible thickness of my hair growing back in.

I watched this video and one from 2017 in which you stated low laser light therapy does not work. But in this video and others you promote it. I believe you have one video that is solely about laser helmets. I just wanted you to clarify if you recommend it or not.

Possibly depends on what's causing the hair thinning or the alopecia. It will not work for some types of losses according to the manufacturer.

Using a combination of Saw Palmetto, Beta-Sitosterol, and Green Tea as well as maintaining a healthy gut and keeping my thyroid in balance has worked for me. There was a class-action suit against Merck because of the side-effects of Propecia.

You work in pharma and don’t take pharmaceuticals?

I know mine is hereditary because I have the same hair as my grand mother. I have auburn hair and it's greying. So sad. She always said she wish she kept dyeing it. I so understand her now. There is no hair colour like mine I've asked so many hairdressers 😞 This week I'm starting herbal hair oil massage and good balancing shampoo. I'm not happy going grey at age 40

I was known for my beautiful hair. Big changes with menopause at the age of 55. Now 10 yrs later It isn’t what it used to be. But I’m alive and still have hair.

Thank you for such an informative video. I have been experiencing hair loss for about 2 years. The hair I have now is nothing like what it was previously. It’s not pattern baldness. I think it is stress related. As a teenager I had alopecia areata. Would the low level laser treatment benefit my situation? I’ve tried Keranique, Pura Dor and Nature Queen. They all made my hair very dry and unmanageable.

In her hair playlist, she has videos on hair loss due to stress and videos on laser/led for hair loss.

I'm a little bit confused by this video. You mention 0.25mg of oral minoxidil several times in the video compared to 5mgs... do you mean 2.5mgs instead of 0.25? I have only seen it prescribed in 2.5mg and 5mg doses and am not aware of oral minoxidil being prescribed in as small a dose as 0.25mg for hair loss...
