    Great discussion. It is just today that I found your channel and subscribed immediately since your programs are scientifically based and for me as a medical professional is the most valuable to listen to the accurate information not the business type or superficial knowledgeably produced information. I agree with your statements and discussions because I already knew most of them so I believe in your recommendations and your approach. I appreciate your effort and willingness to share your experiences and knowledge with us.
    P.S: How great is that your son followed your footsteps because I definitely believe that medical insights are kind of talents which runs in families. Either genetic effects or environmental influence d can make great doctors in a family, generation after generation. God bless both of you. Lots of respect to you dr. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    I have been on it three months and so far have seen limited changes here is hoping it improves. (Worst case keep what I have )
    One area my doctor didn’t give me a clear answer was the hairline. Does it help improve hairlines in your experience or just build and thicken what is left ? (Norwood 3, vertex)

    • @drkopelman
      @drkopelman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes! Dutasteride blocks both type 1 and type 2 5 alpha reductase and that’s why it’s considered to be a stronger medication compared to Finasteride to treat hair loss. In our office we usually put patients on Dutasteride because of its ability to be more effective in addressing hair loss.

      I have been taking 1.25 mg oral minoxidil since November and have been very happy to see a significant regrowth around my hairline and all over my head. I spent a few years of different topical treatments that I had to keep putting on twice every night and then (supposedly) washing out every morning.

    Question: what do you think about this specific regimen?
    - 2.5mg oral minoxidil daily
    - 1mg oral finasteride daily
    - 0.5mg dutasteride twice a week, instead of finasteride (it could be thuesday and thursday, for example)
    I'm a 34 YO male patient with hair transplant done on my 30's. I'm on minoxidil and finasteride already but wanna try adding some dutasteride to see how it goes. I never had any side effects.

It's only been 1.5 since I've upgraded to this current protocol. Should I expect superior results compared to my previous routine? @@drkopelman I think you missed the point Dr Kopelman. There are many Dr's in the USA to this day who A) have not heard of dutasteride and B) will NOT dare prescribe it even off label because of their own insecurities and fears. Japan had the foresight and intelligence to approve this agent for the treatment of a barbaric and life compromising condition called "hairloss". Many American Dr's are stuck in the past. I can't tell you the countless stories from patients who tell me their Dr will not prescribe dutasteride. Even Finasteride has proven difficult for them to obtain. It’s possible you might be experiencing telogen effluvium which could be induced from stress. Losing more hair than normal would be a sign of this. If you're really serious about regrowing your hair this is what to do: oral minoxidil 5mg daily, oral finasteride 5mg daily, oral spironolactone 200 mg daily, estrogen cream (estradiol/estradiol) a penny size once a day, kenalog-10 shots 5mg once a month for 6 months to start, three months break and do another 3 each month, iron and vitamin-D3 supplementation. Sure the spironolactone and estrogen will cause feminization and potential sterilization but frankly if this doesn't bother you as a male then go for it! More dermatologists should prescribe this protocol to their patients who want their hair back at all costs. It's working for me. I went from a Norwood 3 to Norwood 1.5 doing this in a matter of months. The progress isn't done yet either. My hair continues to get longer and thicker. I have a ponytail which has become thick and long that would make too many women and men jealous. The level of happiness I feel having my hair back cannot be put to words.
