Topical minoxidil only regrew my baby hairs. Oral minoxidil 1.25mg successfully regrew my scalp hair in addition to the baby hairs. Praise God! It's answered prayers! 💖🙌🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾💖
I have been taking .25 oral minoxidil and the prescription topical solution for about a year. I started last February. I have white , thin, baby hairs. as well.
I have been on oral minoxidil for a year and 2 months now, no side effects but amazing results. I started on 2.5mg and upped over time to 5mg daily. Contemplating 7.5mg daily as the results are great, but wary of the side effects of going close to 10mg+ so will not go higher!
Hi, I have been using Minoxidil for 15 years and all of the sudden my scalp is not liking it and getting irritated. I don't want to stop! Can you imagine, all that work of 15 years down the drain! Anything I can do to soothe the scalp? Would love your help with this, it's terrible to think I have to stop.
I'm using topical and in going thru shedding, started 2 months ago and shedding for past 1 month, lost so much hair due to shedding but it has definitely decreased now, I have to give it 3-4 more months to see if it's working, shedding is not associated with topical or oral version, it relies from person to person, some never shed and had good results..hope it helps
i switched from solution to oral tablet (2.5 mg minoxidil) ,and after 1.5 months of full tablet intake, i had extreme palpitations for 3-4 days ,and my bp fell down to 105/60 for a whole day, and extreme lethargy, also legs nd hands swelling, with face swelling 😢, I am leaving the tab right away
I used topical 5% minoxidil for a couple of years and it worked great but after that time it quit working. Not sure why that happened and my doctor said that I should stop using it but did'nt explain why.
All topicals go systemic over time anyway. Just cut to the chase and use oral since it's the same thing in the long run. Having to apply greasy products to your head every day is simply too much to deal with. It gets on your pillow, couch, car seat, etc and can effect your friends, family, and spouse who share them with you.
at time stamp 17.51 she said you can use both topical and oral minoxodyl at the same time. it was said very fast but she said it.Anyone else hear that?
Can you make a video talking about seborrheic dermatitis? I’ve tried ketoconazale and ciclopirox, they helped a bit but not completely. I’m now using CLn shampoo with salicylic acid and it has helped a bit too but just like the others, it has not helped completely. I’m not sure what else to do to help get rid of it. I wash my hair every other day and blow dry it to avoid leaving it wet (so the yeast on my scalp doesn’t get more out of control). I’ve been thinking in using oral minoxidil too because of my hair loss. I wanted to use topical but I think it’d make my seborrheic dermatitis worse.
My Dr started me on 100mg of doxycycline a day and that has totally cleared up my Seborrheic Dermatitis and allowed me to start using topical minoxidil. Doxycycline!! 😊
Thanks Kevin for the info. Do you think a combination of topical minoxidil once a day in the morning, plus oral minoxidil 2.5 mg once a day in the evening, can be beneficial, or is it not recommended to combine?
Thank you for the information. I’ve been meaning to find out more of oral option because with the topical Option of liquid or foam I get like an allergic reaction. My scalp becomes itchy and dry. Then I feel Like I have itchy dandruff. Is the oral option available with out prescription?
great video! well spoken and clearly stated. maybe at some point you can talk about what are you think about sublingual minoxidil. seen a few studies on it. what do you think of taking a minoxidil pill in a sublingual manner? yes i do take a minoxidil and finasteride tablet in a sublingual manner (theory - avoid first pass liver metabolism and have more efficacy; and i guess more side effects? hahah). what do you think of topical caffeine at a max of 0.05/ml? read a few studies on this as well - thanks for sharing!
I'm 30 female. I've tried topical minoxidil for 1 year with little success. I want to try oral minoxidil but I'm scared of it making me grow body hair 😣
For almost half people, topical minox doesn't work because they don't have the enzyme to convert minox into the active form (Minoxidil sulfate) at the scalp; in that case, only oral works.
Hey Dr jenny thanks for the video. Have you seen some men only use oral minoxidil to maintain hair and not use finasteride? Only for maintenance? Thanks
I don’t have the time to do the topical and I already have facial hair issues so I’m afraid of the oral stuff. Sigh, I guess I’ll have to live with my thinning hair 😢
She started losing me about halfway through. I’m sorry but she’s bouncing all over from men to women and back again and what each can double with. It starts going all over the place. I think a dedicated video for men and one for women might help or maybe her delivery just doesn’t work for me and that’s okay.
Can we use oral and topical minoxidil both for beard growth? Will that affect negative to my scalp hair, i have really thick and dense scalp hair, so i only want to know that if i use oral and topical minoxidil for my beard growth, will that adversely affect my scalp hair?
I had been using topical for 2 years and it worked very well for me but sadly i started to develop fungus like dandruff around 6 months ago and I had to shave my head in December to clean the scalp and then it started happening again in January and then i had to shave my head again in Feb. I went to dermatologist on 11th march and She prescribed me oral minoxidil 2.5mg once a day and 11th march was the last day of my topical application and i started orla minoxidil on 12th March. My question is will the oral minoxidil work at least at the same level for me if not better as the topical was working or can it be less effective than topical. 2nd will oral minoxidil start from the scratch and the shedding phase will occur again which already happened when i started topical 2 years ago or will oral minoxidil just resume from topical gains and continue maintaining these gains? My dermatologist told me oral will resume the effects of the topical and then continue maintaining them. Thanks.
first of all u can switch to alcohol free or aqua based minoxidil, that will solve ur dandruff issues 100% (i had the same issue)....second ORAL MINOXIDIL is the best , so get ready for some serious hair gains
@@hebaaboutaleb7622 Well i stopped using topical in march and have been using oral 2.5mg a day. But i still have fungus like dandruff on my scalp i still had to shave my head in may. And i think i will have to do it again this month as well as i still so much dandruff on my scalp. The treatment dermatologist prescribed didn't help me at all and now i am trying apple cidar vinegar and used 3 times only. The dandruff on my back is mostly gone but the top of my scalp still has alot of it. About the hair, actually i can't recall exactly how my hair looked in december when i shaved my head, back the i had 3 months of growth which i have now and my parents say it looks the same so stopping topical didn't cause any loss. Before that i had around 5 months of growth (i took pictures then as well) before i shaved my head in September last year. I personally will be able tell about the condition of my hair when I will have 5 months of growth but sadly i can't get past 3 months because of the dandruff/fungus. If apple cidar vinegar doesn't help then i think i won't be able to grow my hair more than 3 months ever again lol. By the way i full hair on my head, i just wanted to remain that way as i belong to the family of bald men (from both father and mother's side) and i am the only one who still has full head of hairs, the thinkg is i had double the hair in my 30s lol now i going to be 41 this November.
Dear Doctor, I have been diagnosed with FPHL grade 2 and I have been on oral finasteride 2.5mg (for 1 year) and oral Minoxidil (started with 0.0625 for 2 weeks, 1.25 for 2 weeks and 2.5mg for 9.5 months). I have seen increased hair shedding for about 8 months, and it continues. (At the same time as I started full dose Minoxidil ie. 2.5mg, I got A cell PRP also done). Will the hair shedding EVER reduce or stop? Will increasing or reducing the dose of Minodixil help to reduce hair shedding? Is the hair shedding seen with Minodixil use proportional to the dose? So far I have had no side effects from Minodixil with 2.5mg for 9 months. Actually, my hair fell out with the bulbs and clogged the drain. Even before I started the treatment it used to come out in clumps. I read that if the hair come out in clumps it cannot be andogenetic alopecia or FPHL. When I asked my doctor he said that it could also have a component of Telogen Effluvium. Pls, advice what should I do?
i used the kirkland 5% minoxidil for about a year to regrow a bad haircut. it really works but i had to stop using it 3 months ago bc my scalp cant handle it anymore, it makes it so greasy & i workout everyday so itll smell so bad. Now i take viviscal to maintain my length!
Of course it’s going to work if it was just for a bad haircut…if you don’t have thinning hair problems. You would have gotten the same results if you didn’t take it😂😂😂. It is a myth that it makes your hair grow faster. It is designed for people with actual hair loss.

Hello Dr. Liu, I am currently on Finasteride 1mg, have been for a few years. I just started oral minoxidil 1.25mg a little under 2 months ago. Since starting treatment my hair has been shedding quite a bit...which is freaking me out a little. I've watched videos about "Dread Shead" but I can't seem to find good content on the subject. Is shedding normal and is that a good indicator that a patient may be responding to the medication? I am having no adverse side effects other than shedding. If this is normal? And if so, roughly how long does it last? Thank you for your time. Best regards, Will
The shedding could last 4-6 weeks. I’m on dutastaride and minoxidil. I use the minoxidil at night and in the morning I rub a combination of olive oil, pumpkin seed oil and castor oil. I use nizarol to wash it out prior to applying minoxidil at night
I’ve been on 2.5mg oral minoxidil for 18 months, it hasn’t stopped my hair loss but I’m growing a lot of hair now. Hair on my arms and face as well. Which I can’t wax my face due to using Tretinoin 6 nights a week.
Finestride will block the DHT that causes hair thinning and hair loss. Minoxidil only sends more blood resulting to growth of new hair, it’s just a stimulant doesn’t block the main source of hair loss.
