    I recommend that when you clean the inyector in sand paper it’s better and the right way if you do in a glass surface or marble tile 👍🏻 very nice video and thank you for the content

    As soon as you started talking about pulling those prechambers I started thinking, "I hope he pulls the glow plug first, na he wouldn't forget a thing like that." Yep, you did. I won't tell you about all the things I've messed up working on cars.
    I bet the last guy did the same thing then learned to pull them on the rest.
    Can you soak those monarchs in something and see if they will free up then take them apart and clean them real good?
    Per Kent Bergsma the bottoms of those prechambers can crystallize, so be careful with them and don't break them.

    • @ImpalamansGarage
      @ImpalamansGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say that because of the precise nature of the machine work between the inner pintle and the outer barrel, if they become corroded inside they are trash. I may pull the other three prechambers and look at them. Now you have me worrying. Thanks Werner. LOL !

      @@ImpalamansGarage I looked "pintle" up in the dictionary. It is a pin that holds a rudder onto a boat. But if you go to the Old English and German origin of the word it means penis. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Hahahaha!
      Did you take those other prechambers out to inspect them? Not forgetting to remove the glow plugs first. Lol
      Can you return those monarchs or exchange for working ones?

    • @ImpalamansGarage
      @ImpalamansGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wernerdanler2742 I'll send the seller an email and see what happens. I've had them several months so it will probably do no good. I do plan to pull the 3 remaining prechambers to see what they look like. That might make an interesting video as well.

    I made the same silly mistake last night removing a pre chamber on my 606. Forgot to pull the damn glow plug and I wasn’t as lucky as you, when the glow plug tip broke off it gouged the prechamber mating surface on the head pretty good. Now I have a horrible feeling I’ll never be able to get that pre chamber to fully seal without a new head or pulling the head and repairing the mating surface somehow

    I bought a set of Monarks from Kent at MercedesSource a few years ago, haven't opened them yet. I figured I'd replace the original Bosch ones on my '84 when/if they fail eventually. Now ya got me thinking man. I'd be curious where you got yours from, if you don't mind me asking.

      www.ebay.com/itm/222569088527. This vendor is in Treuenbrietzen, Germany. The guy communicates well. I don't blame him for this. In retrospect I blame the world situation. Who knows what these nozzles went through to get to me.

      Agree however these Monark nozzles are German parts. If someone "faked" them, they did a pretty god job. They have all of the correct product markins, part numbers, "Made in Germany", etc..... The Firad nozzles I have in this car run well.

    Hey Impalaman. I am also a impala guy. Got a 60 Impala in the garage doing the trunk pans. I was looking for another car toy like W126 since they are cheaper than classic impalas. Which W126 would you recommend? Is this anything like an old classic Chevy?

    • @ImpalamansGarage
      @ImpalamansGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy George. If you can work on an old Chevy, you can work on an old W126/W123 Mercedes. If you pull apart the front wheel bearings you would see what I mean. They are engineered to be serviced and maintained. I'd say 99% of the vehicle systems are designed to come apart easily. I reckon it depends on what type of engine you would prefer. You can get a 6 gas, 8 gas or a 5 or 6 cylinder diesel. One cool thing about a W126 is that you don't have any pesky computers to fool with. If I was going to buy another one today I'd probably find a v8 coupe just because. If you like a big sedan find an "SEL" or "SDL". I had a prject 66 Impala 4 door hard top years ago. I replaced floor pans, trunk pans, rear deck behind the back glass, made new weather stripping channel around the trunk with a metal brake, etc.... I was "all in" at the time but I had to get rid of the project. Wish I still had it. Email me.

      I got the Italian made nozzles and heat shields from www.idparts.com. Part number AN0SD314. The website says they are no longer available however. Thank you pandemic. My source for Monark nozzles was poor. It was an ebay source from Europe. Either the seller knew the nozzles were faulty when they sold them, or they sat on a warehouse too long and the insides were damaged. I am still running the Italian made nozzles and the car has good power and mileage. Here is the Ebay seller with the Monark nozzles. www.ebay.com/itm/222569088527

    Is these shims same as shims for the 84 300TD? I think 300TD uses 11.5 mm. Glad you told me about the nozzles source. I was about to buy from them too.

      @@ImpalamansGarage My only concern was many sites call for 11.5mm OD shims for 300TD and your link for the shims were 12mm. As long as 12mm will fit my engine I am good to go. I went ahead and ordered the shims from McMaster-Carr. Do you still recommend Monark nozzles? I hoping just cleaning my original would be good enough. Thank you for the videos and info. Very helpful.

      @@siamak1 People seem to think that Monark are the best for these cars. I contacted Monark directly via email last year. They directed me to MercedesSource.com and stated they were the only Monark reseller in the U.S. That is the only other source I know of. Considering the global situation they may be hard to obtain, although I've not attempted to do so lately. You may in fact be better off rebuilding the ones you have.

    Hey man, I recently purchased a 1982 Mercedes 300SD W126 model. They’re pretty cool little cars but anyhow I was wondering if you could help me out and do a video over the vacuum system. I think I have a vacuum leak somewhere because shifting into second and third the engine revs high before shifting and the rpm gage works at times. Thanks a lot in advance!

    • @ImpalamansGarage
      @ImpalamansGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first thing I would do is check to make sure you have good vacuum going to the modulator on the side of the transmission. It controls shift quality. It needs a good vacuum signal and the modulator also needs to be properly adjusted. See my earlier video entitled "Automatic Transmission Modulator Valve Replacement - W126 Mercedes 722.3". If the vacuum at the modulator is inadequate, just trace the line back and check for broken connectors and lines along the way. There aren't what I would call a huge number of vacuum lines on these cars but if they are broken you'll get some weird performance for sure. There is a hard vacuum line going to the rear of the intake manifold that is prone to breaking so check that. Also there are some vacuum fittings coming off the brake booster that you need to check. Most of the other stuff is in plain sight on the driver's side of the engine.

    • @jcfl52345
      @jcfl52345 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      have you checked the vacuum modulator plugged into the driver's side of the tranny? round thing with a black cap in the center covering the little adjustor handle.. the body is likely green, there's a vacuum line coming down from under the hood

    • @jcfl52345
      @jcfl52345 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      suggest you get a vacuum tester and some golf tees to block off tubes and test starting at the main line from the vac pump, replacing hoses or the little black rubber junctions / connectors as needed (not expensive)
