Thanks, Man. I just acquired a 20" 1968 Schwinn Stingray and had the same idea to run a 26" fork. I knew it would work. I may run a 26" springer, we'll see.
Great mr michael, my family & i loves these small bikes, we intrested in rebuilt & restore also upgrade tmem for our use, thanks to share your builts & tutorials & step by step builts, thanks, from panama loe.
Great stuff! True "chopper" culture in a world of vanilla and materialism. I just started a muscle bike build ($50 marketplace score) and stumbled on your video. Like minds!
I love to see this, man. I'm flirting with 40, still tinkering with ratrods myself. It's cool to see someone a few years older doing what he's been doing since they still played cartoons on Saturday morning. I think our tastes are very much in line. I could never reconcile myself 100% to a BMX or a mountain bike. By the 80s the only bikes with banana seats were girls' bikes for some reason so I missed out on that. But I seen this chromed out throwback bike with a springer fork and a glittery jelly banana seat in Walmart back in 2004 or so and scooped it up for, like, $65. Apparently I was a muscle bike guy and never even knew it. But I'm 6 and 1/2 foot tall, 200ish lbs.! 😂 I gotta "adjust" stuff to get it to work for me like you do.
I have a Schwinn Stingray reissue that I bought in 2021. Say what you want about the Pacific Cycle Schwinn Stingray 'reissues' I love my bike. Perfect 'around town' sidewalk bike I've had a lot of compliments on it. Put a cool hooded headlight on it that's as much 'modding' I intend to do to it..brings me back to my childhood. A long distance bike it ain't due to the small diameter front chainring but that' OK with me for what I do with it.
I did the brake mount thing mike I have a 1937 rollfast and the rear brake bridge is for a fender but thanks to ur idear I’ve placed a rear brake on it tytyty
Hay mike I found an old mountain bike and took off the cantilever bolts I threw them on a couple bikes for when I change the coaster brake to a freewheel lol u got me going lol I have the differential I’m woundering if I should keep it ?the bikes going in the trash Thursday it has 27” tires rims and inner tubes I have five 26” prewar bikes so I’m thinking just throw the mountain bike away
I see on the Schwinn site they still sell a new version of the Sting-Ray, could an a full size adult ride that out of the box or would it need mods to even ride it around a little?
I haven't looked at them, they're made in china..China... as an adult you want the 165mm crank arm otherwise you're spinning them cranks like you're on a clown bike - you're height is the biggest factor but you can modify anything to work
Hay mike ,question here, do the barrings in the headset go barrings up into the race on the bottom crown ?because mine seem to fit barrings down on my 57 ,and my other bikes they go opposite
I scavenge parts from garbage bikes - that's from an older bike with cantilever brakes, millions were made - the brake shoes slide through that large hole . Pay attention to bikes in the trash, free bikes and dirt cheap parts bikes
Recall Jerry Seinfeld’s pristine stingray I believe it was featured on a Jay Leno vid ?? He Noted this stingray was coveted as a young boy and when the time came -post much success- picked one up
good idea on the back brakes i was looking for someting like this

I did also
So cool to see a craftsman's artwork. Amazing work and a lot of tough details go unseen.

Bearings go into the cups, inside to the race
Are u familiar with 1957 crowns?
They want to fit opposite
Mike I don’t have a micrometer I have a 1957 Chicago Schwinn 26” bike and I’m trying to find out what size cups do I need for the headset ,do u know?
Genius thanks bro
Hay mike do u have a hack on washing whitewalls?
I rarely run WW - I've cleaned them up with simple green, my go-to for most stuff
Brother where can I get that part to shove up thru the bridge so I can mount my brake on ?
I scavenge parts from garbage bikes - that's from an older bike with cantilever brakes, millions were made - the brake shoes slide through that large hole . Pay attention to bikes in the trash, free bikes and dirt cheap parts bikes
Found it and did it thanks bro if it weren’t for u i wouldn’t have a freewheel on my rollfast lol
Get you a Duro slick tire for the back.
nice bike
could you modify the bike to have higher gearing for longer rides and to handle hills better
Of course...
