Having owned only Škoda’s for most of my driving career , and being a hard core enthusiast of the winged arrow marque, I knew even before the video finished, that this little gem would complete the trip. Škoda’s are, and have always been , renowned for realisability,. Decades of proud rally heritage, including many class wins is testament to that. This lovely Felicia is ready for more adventures I think. My last Fabia was called Felicity. Great content, I enjoyed watching it❤.
Old Skodas are wicked. May not be the flashiest car, but I’d trust an old Skoda to go to Scotland and back more than most modern cars. My friend used to have a Fabia VRS (1.9 TDI) with 280,000 miles and a remap with 300bhp. It never broke!!
Hi you are a fan off Skoda's me too my mum and dad have Skoda's my dad has a Skoda Octavia and my mum has a Skoda Citigo and I just love driving them my dream car is a Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI VRS either in blue or in black colour.
Aren't the modern Skoda's just re-badged Volkswagons assembled in a Czech factory ? It was decades ago, but I've owned several Skodas but they were the rear engine 1100cc ("S110L"?), a real Communist era, modified design, under licence from old Renault design. I loved it. The grip of rear engine weight over the rear driving wheels was amazing, plus super light non-power steering, because of a light front end. AMAZING heaters, like all the original Skoda and Lada. After I bought mine, I paid extra to have the removable tempered glass panel Sun-roof properly installed at an auto-body place. It was fabulous, second best to having a real convertible. Plus it made the already amazing heater/demister/ventilation function even better !
There is always something wonderfully satisfying about taking an old car or van on a long road trip. Knowing it has a book value of less than the cost of 2 new tyres off a modern vehicle.

Nice trip and video, I really enjoyed that. Last year I did 4000 miles in Europe in my old 2008 Suzuki SX4. She finally started running rough towards the end but she got me back home where I donated it to the local trade school for mechanics. I know that feeling how a car can feel like an old friend after many years and many long journeys. Lack of cruise control was the biggest problem really, my right leg ending up almost frozen in place after hours and hours on the road. St Malo to Valencia in two days was my biggest leg though!

i've been planning to make a roadtrip from Portugal to France with my 1989 Opel Corsa, which is 100 times better condition than your warrior right here, and the idea of making this roadtrip with my car scares the shit out of me, i'm a hell of a overthinker, watching these videos makes me feel a lot more confident about it! thanks a lot, it is truly inspiring!!!
I took a 1983 Renault LeCar (R5) on a 10,485-mile (approximately 17,000km) round trip from Wisconsin to Alaska and back in 2010. New Renaults haven't been sold in the US since 1985 and were never popular so the hope of parts and service was dim but the only thing I did was service the vehicle thoroughly and repair or replace anything I thought was suspect and I took off with my two German Shepherds. The only issue I had was the car was a chip in the windshield from gravel being thrown up by a passing semi-truck.
Sounds like my roadtrip might be the shrotest among you guys hahaha the only thing it ceased my ''overthinkness'' was to have more cars, when i used to have just one car it was a weird mix between enjoying driving (i absolutely love driving!) and being always worrying by overthinking literally every possibility in a way that became unhealthy mentaly, but, thankfuly nowadays i feel much more confident, but i've never drove more than 1000km at once, so we'll see whats gonna happen hahaha i appreciate the positivity!!

@@epiccarshow what an epic end. It seems you are starting to get attached to the Škoda. Maybe in the next episodes it deserves some TLC as a thank you.
I just drove my Peugeot 107 to Spain for the second time the other day. It's also been to Lands End and John O'Groats, completing the NC500 in the process. There's something brilliant about road tripping small cars that others wouldn't dream of using, let alone shitboxes like the Skoda. It makes the journey more interesting than using a confident larger diesel.
Blimey! I've done that same trip twice , once with a panda and again with a Civic Type R..... a Skoda Felicia in that state completing the journey is quite something xD
In 2004 myself, with my pal Pete, took part in The Plymouth to Dakar Challenge in a Saab 900 which we bought for £100, the challenge didn’t start in Plymouth or finish in Dakar. It actually finished in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, it was a fantastic experience with lots of great memories.
I love these sort of trips. I once did a Reading to Aberdeen return, on a 90cc Vespa scooter. It took a total of five days, sleeping in hedges, and on used car forecourts, eating nothing but garage fodder. My only break downs, a clutch cable, two punctures, and two spark plug changes. I believe it was over one thousand one hundred miles. I can still remember the arse pain today.
It's ALWAYS the clutch cables that break on Vespas ! MY dad had a couple over the years, a 50cc and a 150cc, and several friends had Vespas also. This is back when they were cheap transport for poor people that couldn't afford a real, higher powered motorbike. Nowadays they have become trendy and ridden by Latte sipping Yuppies for brownie points. Now, here in New Zealand anyway, the cheapest wee Chinese scooters cost about $2,000 new, whereas cheapest new Vespa costs like $7,000 . That's literally 3 times the price of a nice older model of convertible car, which has a heater and windscreen wipers for those wet day rides !
@@KiwiCatherineJemma Interesting. In the UK, both the classic (pre-1985) Vespa and Lambretta, are very niche hobby vehicles, ridden only by ex- Mod revivalists, race tuners, and long distance tourers. To see a modern Vespa on the road is actually quite rare. Real 'scooterists' prefer the two stroke engine to the unresponsive four stroke, and they often tune them to do over 100mph. These guys are real hardcore scooter advocates, and would never ride a normal motorcycle.
Brave challenge felicity is in need of upkeep, little welding on wheel arch ,service , even got a tow hitch for your business thanks for showing well done
This brings back memories. Of course the Felicia made it! As a kid my family used to own a red Family edition estate with the more powerful 1.6 litre Volkswagen engine. It saw us driving from Czechia to places such as Toulon in France, and Elba and the Gargano peninsula in Italy. We sold it to a neighbour who drove it for many more years, until eventually giving it to his grandson who finally wrote it off by crashing it into a ditch a few years ago.
"I haven't seen anyone for ages now!" - Houses sit in the background :) Honestly, take her to Norway! Drive to the North Cape; I'll hop along on my 40 year old Suzuki motorbike if you fancy company =)

Lesmahagow had a tesco Superstore just off the motorway. Just to help anyone heading north/south. There are not so many services and the food and petrol etc is cheaper obviously.
The simplest things in life are the best and this car is definitely that. It's amazing that this car could have been scrapped but it continues to be a loyal friend
OK sir what about buying a project vehicle a classic one? Morris miner van 1.3 engine, it's a better vehicle as gives you more privacy no windows in the back, you could get a good bed in there too. Could it do the same mileage as the skoda?
I would absolutely love to get a classic vehicle and take it on a road trip. I've always wanted a Morris miner van as well! Not 100% sure if would make a long trip but that's the fun part! 😅
Hey great video off Matt taking the Skoda Felicia on a road trip from Brighton too Scotland and back again I think that Matt and Dave should do the same road trip only in two different cars I think that Dave would love the road trip.
My daily driver is a 100,000 mile 2004 Toyota Corolla that I got for $2,700CDN. I am planning a 3,000 mile drive to Bekize from Southern Ontario, Canada. My last car was a 1990 Volvo 240 estate. A mattress fit in the car, tailgate closed. You need to learn how to cook under the bonnet while you drive. It does work.
last time i did a road trip it around the UK (from germany) it took me nearly 2 weeks to get up to john o'groats. 😅 and another 3 to get back to dover haha
@@epiccarshow the UK is one of my favourite places in the world 🤨 went there 4 times over the last 10 years doing road tripping and car camping and would go back in a heartbeat. i've got to admit that i've always been somewhat lucky with the weather (always went there in august), but even on a moody day it's got so much vibe to it. if i won the lottery i'd get a house in devon or cornwall and a resto mod 911 that would be taken out for biweekly trips all over the british isles. 😎

These guys are real hardcore scooter advocates, and would never ride a normal motorcycle.
great video - well done Skoda.
❤️
Such an amazing road trip 😮
thank you a lot of effort went into this one
Felicity needs a full resto I think!!! She bloody well deserves it
Definitely if we could just find some money to make it possible lol, you haven't got a spare 2 grand have you? 😅
@@epiccarshow 2 grand? Yes. Spare? No? My own Skoda needs a bit of TLC
@@epiccarshow Just buy a welder and you have content for MANY videos to come. 😀
Brave challenge felicity is in need of upkeep, little welding on wheel arch ,service , even got a tow hitch for your business thanks for showing well done
Thank you 🙏
I love Scotland went there for first time early this year's, what is the bagpipe music in your video?
not sure on the track, We got it off epidemic sound and just typed bagpipe lol
This brings back memories. Of course the Felicia made it! As a kid my family used to own a red Family edition estate with the more powerful 1.6 litre Volkswagen engine. It saw us driving from Czechia to places such as Toulon in France, and Elba and the Gargano peninsula in Italy. We sold it to a neighbour who drove it for many more years, until eventually giving it to his grandson who finally wrote it off by crashing it into a ditch a few years ago.
Love the sound of the family edition, ours is tramp edition but we love it 😅
Definitely think Felicity deserves a bit of love shes definitely become the fan favourite of the channel 😉 awesome channel though 👌
Thank you 🙏 honestly we will try but we don't make any money really off this TH-cam channel so its a bit tricky but hopefully soon
"I haven't seen anyone for ages now!" - Houses sit in the background :)
Honestly, take her to Norway! Drive to the North Cape; I'll hop along on my 40 year old Suzuki motorbike if you fancy company =)
Funnily enough we've been invited to Norway to film content for next year so you never know 👌
@@epiccarshow As luck would have it, I'm most likely moving from Belgium to Sweden next year!
Would love to run into you and the Skoda, I tend to take a three week trip to explore Norway each year around June but since I'm a lot closer to the Norwegian border by then.. :)
Love the video ❤❤
Lesmahagow had a tesco Superstore just off the motorway. Just to help anyone heading north/south. There are not so many services and the food and petrol etc is cheaper obviously.
That car deserves a full restoration good old Skoda can’t beat them
Great video. On a separate note, if you intend to sleep in your car, best leave the gas canister outside as a safety precaution!
The awesome bridge you were on was the queensferry crossing across the firth of forth
You should've stopped at like b&m grabbed some £5 cover throws, tuck them under the roof lining plastics for privacy or even big bath towels
What a video! ❤
Thanks so much
I love it. Good old Felicia very popular across central Europe in the late 90's early 00's. Love to work on those so easy
The simplest things in life are the best and this car is definitely that. It's amazing that this car could have been scrapped but it continues to be a loyal friend
That bridge was the Queensferry Crossing going over the River Forth. Great video
Thanks for watching 🙏
Just came across your channel and loving it, all the best ❤, it would not be an adventure in a modern reliable car.
Too right, we only really want to have older cars on here
Those glasses you wearing are quite nice where you got them from and what brand are they?
knowing Matt id say Temu 😅
@@epiccarshow lol
"quick trip down the road to see your relos"
Australians nod
Surely now she needs to do a lap of the Nürburgring 🤣
Or a factory visit
Brilliant video!!!
Thank you!!!
The boy(s) are back
💪
Love the channel and the videos, it's time to reward Felicity with some TLC..
Thanks so much. It would be amazing but the temu mods are too special to remove 🤣
Great video and editing. Makes me miss my R reg £300 Felicia I did a 10,000 mile road trip in with two friends
Best car ever
@@epiccarshow best channel ever!
@@ArchieMaitland thank you :)
We have more road trips planned. Sadly we knocked monaco on the head because we simply couldnt afford it
Get this video and channel trending!!!!
Please do 🙏🙏🙏
My daily driver is a 100,000 mile 2004 Toyota Corolla that I got for $2,700CDN. I am planning a 3,000 mile drive to Bekize from Southern Ontario, Canada. My last car was a 1990 Volvo 240 estate. A mattress fit in the car, tailgate closed. You need to learn how to cook under the bonnet while you drive. It does work.
love the sound of that
Reminds me of the old beetle i had she just went ... I had an adventure with her .. good video
Thank you for watching 🙂
Way to good of a video to have that amount of subs
Thanks so much 🙏
Skoda felicia can take trip in winter from Europe to coldest place in Siberia- Oymyakon , so UK is not a problem.
impressive. I think we need another felicia lol
Great video 👍🏻
Thank you
At least you've picked the right car!!
Just found your channel mate and gotta say your absolutely jokes 😂 definitely subscribing
Hahaha, thank you! Really appreciate it. Still a bit crap but we will get there!
I'm surprised it made it through the pothole riddled roads of wick. They shook my car to pieces when I went up in May.
Felicia is very good car. I had one 96 model LX it is fantastic
Skoda Felicias were the turning point for skoda VW helped re engineer that old push rod engine and made it sing compared to what it used to be 😅
Nice trip, beautiful story!!
Thanks so much
finaly some skoda video yepeeeeeeeee
Have you considered, and I know this is crazy, actually maintenance and repairs?
No need, it identifies as a reliable car and that's all that matters 😂
@@epiccarshow 🤣
last time i did a road trip it around the UK (from germany) it took me nearly 2 weeks to get up to john o'groats. 😅 and another 3 to get back to dover haha
Crikey, what did you think of the UK? Don't worry, be honest we know it's rubbish over here 😅
@@epiccarshow the UK is one of my favourite places in the world 🤨 went there 4 times over the last 10 years doing road tripping and car camping and would go back in a heartbeat. i've got to admit that i've always been somewhat lucky with the weather (always went there in august), but even on a moody day it's got so much vibe to it. if i won the lottery i'd get a house in devon or cornwall and a resto mod 911 that would be taken out for biweekly trips all over the british isles. 😎
What a car model ? Deisel engine?
