    I always wonder why Toyota still bothers with the Fortuner when this one is clearly better and outsells it worldwide.

    • @richardwalsh5570
      @richardwalsh5570 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Fortuner is for people who don't want a big car. Power to weight and off road the Fortuner is super.

    • @This_is_me_okay

      The Fortuner is cheaper and is catered more towards a lower income demographic.

      @@This_is_me_okay that is subjective, I could buy any car I like. However, I bought a Fortuner for size and value. Mainly size. Very pleasantly surprised by its ability. I have owned many 4wd over the years.

      The Fortuner is PPV (pickup platform vehicle) so it's an SUV based on the Hi-Lux. Other manufacturers have the same (Pajero Sport, MUX, Everest). It's cheaper and it's made for some specific markets.

    Still the one I'd buy despite its age - the new one has a lot to live up to and without knowing what improvements they've made, personally I find the appearance of the new one pretty tacky.

    The Hiace work van tested by Brett on the old channel would leave this Prado for dead. Family cars shouldn't be so slow that you don't have the confidence to overtake granny doing 20ks under the limit because you'll run out of overtaking lane. I was in this exact situation yesterday.

    The design still hasn’t had a full redesign in over 10 years. Show’s how much of a hot cake the Landcruiser Prado is.

    I have a twenty year old Prado with the v6 petrol its old and crappy but does 0 to 100 in 9.3 and is quiet and smooth after 350000 km.

    Still works well with families and off-road. SUVs come and go but Prado always the king. I think this one is peak prado next generation with batteries etc.

    I got upgraded from a rav4 to one of these a while ago by a rental company. I was super happy, until the first uphill passing lane where the Suzuki Swift i was trying to overtake started pulling away from me. At least it is comfortable to drive though.

    I really dislike slow vehicles, toyota should get rid of the slow 2.8 Diesel and use the 3.3 V6 used in the Lexus LX500 D, that one is a really powerful engine with such excellent results in acceleration

      My wife has the Lexus version of this generation Prado (GX460) with the 4.6L v8. It's a great engine for this vehicle.

      @@rich7447 great engine, but too thirsty. My father has the LX500D 32 km/gallon great autonomy, excellent acceleratiom, 700 NM of torque, amazing engine. The V8 is a great engine,no turbo, súper reliable

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tacuazinful The Lexus LX is too small for a diesel here in the US. Even larger vehicles like the F150 are not big enough to qualify for the more relaxed EPA regulations that are applied to vehicles with a GVWR/GVM of over 8,500lbs. Diesels are used here (I have a 6.7L Ford v8 diesel), but you need to be at F250 or larger and Toyota doesn't compete in that segment.

    • @tacuazinful
      @tacuazinful หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rich7447 That's really strange, diesel engines present waaay more torque than gasoline engines. When You tow, the most important thing is Torque, it is also more fuel efficient, that's why most heavy duty Big ton trucks have diesel engines

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tacuazinful We do use diesels for towing. We just use much bigger vehicles. Not many people would be towing much with something the size of a Prado. Even an F150 is considered to be a marginal tow vehicle. My tow vehicle is a F450.

  • @rich7447
    @rich7447 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I don't understand why Aussies and Europeans get a version of a vehicle with such terrible acceleration. The version of the Prado that we get in North America (Lexus GX460) does 0 to 100km/h in around 8 seconds.

Maybe you need your face in the thumbnail, pulling some overly quizzical expression? Maybe not but it does work i guess. All the best and certainly not having a go, just something I've noticed.

      Picture this:
      You're driving along a country road with your wife and 3 kids going on holiday. One of the kids is carsick, you pull over on the side of the road to sort it out.
      All done, you now need to get back on the road but trucks doing 110kph keep barreling by.
      You wait for the biggest gap in tactics and plant your for foot, the car lumbers away, but that b-double is closing quickly, so the wife starts yelling at you...
      "How is a $90,000 suv this slow in 2024", you think to yourself
