I don't know if I'd choose an active volcano to live on, but I do admire people who choose to live like this.

Honestly I would love to live like that, I feel like this family could teach us a lot. Those kids are probably going to be smarter than those who live in the city.

Yes so many successful unschooling people. And by the way her daughter speaks so eloquently and just by the way she chooses to use her words shows that she's definitely been educated..they must be doing something right.

Wanting to live off the grid but also be a social media influencer seems unusual to me, but what do I know? I’d worry about one of my children falling down a lava tube or a large eruption so much that I’d stay paralyzed with fear there. I’m too much of a worry wort.

As long as the kids are healthy and happy I don't see anything wrong with the lifestyle.
Every parent is different and how they raise their children is their business!!!!

this is amazing. they're doing right by their children. We're allowed to experience whatever we want, all walks of life and they're tuning into mother gaia, and they're gonna raise their children to be in tune with mother gaia, that that is something a lot of us have lost. North america and europe are the most suppressed culture.
Active land of volcanoes too, is very strong and it's the perfect growing grounds for things. I had a gut instinct right when I saw the video that they were in Hawaii. but I active Volcano is amazing energy. It makes things grow. It's fascinatingThere's so much to learn

Yea, 100 years ago this would have been a terrible idea and very dangerous but with the way they monitor volcanic activity in Hawaii today they would most likely get sufficient warning that an eruption is possible. As long as they take all warnings seriously and evacuate until they can confirm it is safe I don't see much of a problem with it. May not be that safe on all volcanoes but I'm pretty sure ALL active volcanoes in Hawaii are monitored closely so it's really not that dangerous.

Another note, their children are absolutely stunning and well spoken and so sweet. Clearly they are loving parents who are doing a great job, tho I do disagree with not putting your kids in school. They need a basic education to live, period. This is the way society works.

@ see as I was watching the video she mentioned home school so I don’t understand if they’re “unschooling” or doing some version of homeschooling, but it should be basic level education that they can enter secondary school with. At least enough to be able to keep up with their peers, should they decide they want to be a nurse, etc.

I wish I had the option to raise my kids similar. She’s not depriving her children of schooling. She’s taking back control of what they get taught. And most of the things we learn in school doesn’t even get retained because they are trying to stuff us so full of so much useless information. Do I think everyone needs basic schooling? Yes. But once you get into middle school, most of that Information is hardly ever used in day to day life, or even careers. Unless you grow to specialize in certain things. Family trips can get turned into a school lesson on history. Gardening can teach you science and math and things like that, cooking is math and science and you could turn it into history if you thought outside the box. So many ways situations can teach but a lot of parents don’t. Also kids have no common sense now days. Everyone is glued to technology, and they aren’t responsible for making the right calculations or corrections because “computers do that for you”… yes I got told by a teacher that sent home an essay with so many spelling and grammar mistakes with a 100% on it that they didn’t grade so much on that stuff anymore cause it’s the age of computers and when typing up something for his boss one day the computer would fix it for him. So they just graded on what he said in his essay. 🤯 So that’s basically unschooling right there people 😂😂😂 anyway… I’m over this rambling 😂😇 y’all be kind.

Omg their children are going to be beautiful when they grow up. That said, what a fun childhood - however - I think they need a little more education in the traditional sense vs focusing on life skills. Her kids are going to be WAY more prepared and self reliant than most kids who live a traditional childhood, but I think learning a regular k-13 curriculum is important just so they can at least keep up with their peers and meet minimum requirements for most basic level jobs. Granted, this is an 8 minute long video, we didn't even see what a home lesson looks like for this family so it's not fair to judge. They love their kids but they are making a lot of choices for them before the kids even know it was an option. But simultaneously in the current climate, farming and stewardship skills are becoming more and more rare and important. It's very controversial but not in a negative way
