    VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
In this video, Luke, Lanna, and their little one, Claire, invite viewers inside their custom-designed Summit View Cabin in Trout Lake, Washington. With a vision of simplicity and minimalism, they transitioned from a downtown condo in Tacoma to a remote, serene life surrounded by nature. Their journey to downsize was driven by the desire for a quieter, more sustainable lifestyle, and they share their insights for those curious about downsizing to a tiny home or rural living.
Luke and Lanna discovered this unique cabin design on Etsy from Here About Home, and they customized it with features perfect for tiny home living: vaulted ceilings, expansive windows framing Mount Adams, and a stunning floor-to-ceiling bookshelf. This thoughtfully designed home offers just the right blend of simplicity and functionality, from a compact, modern kitchen to a multi-functional living room. Here, they cook, work remotely, and spend family time in an inviting space heated by a cozy Moro wood stove.
The minimalist kitchen showcases a black induction stove, subtle cabinetry, and local pine shelving. For maximum storage without clutter, they cleverly integrated a concealed fridge, an IKEA island for extra prep space, and a sleek Breville espresso machine. The upstairs includes a peaceful bedroom retreat with breathtaking mountain views, blackout blinds, and a projector for late-night movie marathons. Their custom pine desk nook and practical storage solutions throughout make Summit View Cabin a testament to functional design for remote work and sustainable living.
For viewers interested in rural property development, Luke and Lanna share tips on purchasing and preparing land, handling septic and water hookups, and budgeting for a cabin build. With their open approach to off-grid living, this tiny cabin demonstrates how to embrace a downsized lifestyle without sacrificing comfort.
    Topics Covered:
-Minimalist tiny home design and inspiration
-Choosing between condo life and rural living
-Tips for buying and developing rural land
-Storage solutions and minimalist kitchen design
-Using local materials and sustainable cabin building
-Practical advice for downsizing and simplifying life
If you're ready to make the leap to tiny living or just curious about rural homesteading, this tour offers a firsthand look at how Summit View Cabin came together from an idea to reality. Want to see more of their minimalist cabin lifestyle?

What a gorgeous family , cabin and kitty. I love the minimalist aesthetic and how simply this family lives. I love that they have future-proofed their lives, because they can build another slightly larger cabin when their child gets older, and AirbnB this cabin and the guests will basically pay for their new build. Who wouldn't want to stay there, with that incredible view? My husband bought 11 acres and each have our own little cabin and it is a wonderful lifestyle. Much happiness to this lovely young family.

Really beautiful and functional design - is it a one bedroom? I wasn’t sure where baby is going to sleep when she out grows the bassinet
They did mention the oversized septic system so perhaps the plan is to add an addition to accommodate their growing family
I bet grandma and the groom’s extended family are thrilled this couple has moved closer to them especially now there is a little one

Very beautiful! It sounds like a lot of money, but living outside of NYC and knowing what real estate costs in your area - I believe you got a great deal. How wonderful that you were able to pay off the property right away! Wishing you happiness, health, and peace in your gorgeous little home. (Your precious baby reminds me of my daughter at that age - same 'hairstyle' 🥰🥰🥰 Enjoy her). Ignore the rude comments; some people are just mean and jealous.

We bought land in Hoodriver OR just a few minutes away, our 1.5acre lot was 280k so this is reasonable. If I was this couple, I would build a regular size home on the same lot and rent this one out.

    • @GaryMiller-z6t
      @GaryMiller-z6t 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

that is as much as my house, and my house payments are almost too much. How does one afford 280k for just land and then have to build a house on it? I make 100k a year and I wouldn't be able to do that.

Finding Financial Freedom by paying $200,000 for an undeveloped 2 acre lot + an additional $350,000 for a minimalist small house build. I guess the downsize was parting with over half million in finances in order to obtain the financial freedom that comes with owning a small house on a heavily property taxed 2 acre lot.

Our 🏡 2floors +basement +attic dormer is too big at 2640sq ft for two people. We’d like to downsize, it’s just too cheap to let go considering the $117k purchase price in 2015.
The simplicity of a small home would be great, we clean so much😑
