Only JB could overcome gravity...this guy gets close to a deep understanding what music can be......brilliant performance, reminds me on young John Williams.......playing Bach is like a KATA PERFORMANCE in Shotokan Karate......open hands.......there was some early Jazz in it and even gypsy influence.......thank you for this outstanding performance.

Everything you did here was absolutely incredible. Every single note. But - that Sarabanda - something very special about the way you played that. And then... the Giga - wow! Impressive! Bravo!

It never ceases to amaze me how You Tube takes every opportunity to destroy the continuity of performances by inserting inane, moronic commercials which no one wishes to see, Must we all be sold something to experience art ? if the answer is yes, than so be it. I would have almost zero possibility of experiencing this guitarists artistry otherwise.

Congratulations to Mr. Redzic, and the director and producer of this wonderful recording. Bravo is all I can say. I won't even be curious about the 16 thumbs pointing down - even when Bach was around his music was thumbed down by his employer at the church for being inharmonious or strange sounding. A polished performance beautifully captured. How can one not be moved by this composition , the depth of the human mind which created it?
Makes me wish for the umpteen million times that this kind of technology and recording technique had existed before the old master left this world. Just one Sunday recording at the old Thomaskirche in Leipzig is enough, just one. Video would be nice too, but I'll settle for audio alone :). Toccata & Fugue by....well, Bach.
It might interest the audience that the 14-minute Chaconne was written in memory of Bach's first wife who passed away while Bach was travelling on foot to pay tribute to another composer. We should be thankful that he actually outlived half of his own children. Perhaps music has something to do with the auto-immune system? Sorry I digressed.

@愛 What a harsh comment! Mr. Khor didn't say anything about his sons but about his children. I think what he meant is that we should be thankfull for the longlivity of JS Bach. To understand what a persons intentions are is also an art :-).

@愛 it baffled my mind how you actually thought I was cheering the untimely deaths of his children. It is obvious that I was thankful of Bach's longevity. Please be respectful. It baffled my mind because if you were a fan of Bach like I am, there is no way your heart could allow such negative criticism. As for the other 2 points, I have no clue how I could have offended you, or the points you were trying to make. I don't apologize for my love of Bach and my love for Bach.

One of the outstanding features of Mr. Redzic's artistry is his shaping of every note into an equally shaped phrase - dynamically and colorwise - in a kind of "narrative" which is the wonderful music we experience. His right hand produces different colors and dynamics effortlessly and without any radical shifts. Like a writer who starts with the meaningful sentence, and then creates a meaningful paragraph and then another, and another and says something meaningful in a superbly well-crafted text that represents language at its most concentrated. Mr. Radzic is the instrument who seemingly dissappears so that we only experience the musical statement. This is another level of guitar playing that transcends the mere digital facility or technique of just very talented players. This is the kind of musicianship one experiences among the world class performers of other instruments. The guitar is indeed doing well with musicians (not just mere players or guitarrists) like Mr. Redzic who I would number among the top 10, 5 or 3 currently active such as Paul Galbraight, Marcyn Dilla et al. Even among the créme de la créme, Mr. Redzic is in a class of his own.
This whole Bach Suite congels into a single organically-structured musical narrative from the Allemand to the Chaconne. And it is thus that his first-rate musical mind conveys the beauty, essence and profound transcendental feelings and emotions. What a rare moving experience!
With deep appreciation for your artistry, intelligence and musical soul which bring much joy and pathos.

Gracias por una interpretación tan limpia y desde el alma

  • @robertoalexandre4250
    @robertoalexandre4250 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

One of the "traps" of listening to classical guitar is the focus on a player's digital facility with scales and arpeggios (believe me, pianists and violonists take all that for granted). And also with "clean" playing and gorgeous tone (this latter is the basis for the even greater musical expression since music is organized sound that conveys something...just what...who knows or cares...the experience is esthetic...and spiritual...without necessarily implying any religious doctrine....it is a feeling.) This Bach suite has many performances, but is rarely heard at the level here. Bach is often lost in transcription, but here the music unfolds in its original grandeur (which surely Bach had in mind and heart when he wrote it...and that Bach was a devout Christian does not circumscribe his music or limit it within only the Christian sensibility). This is the really difference between a great musician like Mr. Redzic and just great guitarrists. It seems as if Bach wrote this with Mr. Redzic in mind and dedicated it to him as the perfect candidate to interpret his (Bach's) intentions and sense of arquitecture. Yes, the magnificent chords, the cascading scales and arpeggios...the gorgeous full-bodied tone that guitarrists contemplate in awe. But the music here goes beyond all those provincial concerns: you want fast scales, listen to Angel or Pepe Romero...they'll blow you away. But you want music: listen to Mr. Redzic...you'll feel the transcendence...that certain, undefinable or spiritual quality of music. Like a religious feeling...without any religion.
Great visual production as well. The tilted camera angle as if the music were soaring upwards. But this music is so much more than the beliefs or credo of its composer.

Koliko je samo dubine utkano u svaki ton, u svaki pokret leve, a posebno desne ruke. Gospodine Redžić, Vi sa godinama dobijate sve ono što Bahove note traže. I duh, i intelekt, i srce.

This is a pure guitar touch. No matter what Mr. Redzic is playing at all, it means just music to the full and proper form. It doesn't need to be composed by any high name, as such, it puts the musical form to the secondary stage. Mr. Redzic aims it definitely to be that quality. It's not just talent, it's the idea in mind and 'Maestro' perfectly accomplishes it through an absolute dedication. Bravo many times...

J.S. Bach was to music what the Apostles were to the New Testament and Sanel Redzic is a commissioned angel like but one, who don’t talk and just do their job. The kind of flaw you might hear in his performances might only be picked up by another angel who has the same job. These pieces are played with sustained perfection where playing over a hard part is practiced most then begun by holding your breath so to speak, and hope for a smooth transition into what’s next. If it’s not just a matter of practicing a piece then what is it. An audio only reproduction can be “photoshopped” but a video not so much. Such playing is usually heard only after 200 years of 6 hours a day practice unless there has been a supernatural anointing.

So, I really like all the things that are necessary, to make music out of a pre- defined note text: Your dynamics are sensitive - your agogic way to choose the tempi is simply beautiful (although some people might say that the tempi are too romantic, but that's after all these years no more important for me!) - your phrasing is precise and aesthetic - your articulation is colourful and quite a bit versatile.
The only thing that is not really my personal cup of tea is your way of producing the vibratos - in my mind they are far out too quick and dramatic, but in spite of the fact that everything else is exactly according to my personal taste and my aesthetic conception, the vibrato is indeed not that important. You use quite seldom anyway.
So in the end it remains only to say: Thank you very much for the extremely good work and that you let us (or better here especially me) enjoy this wonderful historical timeless milestone of music of J. S. Bach!

In my semi-retirement I have a chance to visit You Tube and see all the fine guitarists play beautiful music. The player is educated and does well. The guitar has a certain edge that is quite resonant, which to me, washes out the real voice... but what I hear underneath is the voice that is quite appealing, trying to get out and express its beauty. So I think that time played will help the voice to come to be dominate and the guitar will be great. Congratulations.

Thank you, Mr. Redzic, for making me hear J.S. Bach, as if for the first time. You made clear that he was the first and still among the best jazz musicians of all time. . . . a spiritual experience I take with me. Thank you. Your Chaconne is a prayer ... answered.

Of course I used to know the Ciaconna. But not the whole suite and I fell in love with the giga. Although I’m not good enough for the ciacona I think I m gonna put the giga in my todo-list before I die....
And after my death I will see Bach and apologize 😁
Your extraordinary musicality inspires me and makes the best of my humanity comes from the depth to my mind... thank you for sharing this wonderful gift and huge amount ok work upon it.
