    Potential drivers looking at reviews of budget friendly options are usually met with the “could be better- save more money” scenario. And while it is true that with more cash you can obviously get a better experience- it would seem that Thrustmaster is now giving a solid out of the box experience for those who want this price point. I can only imagine that this will make plenty of racing happen at the Holidays. Nice review!

    Very exciting times to get into our wonderful hobby. Lots of options on all levels. When I first started sim racing years ago I started with the Logitech MOMO Black wheel and it's great to see the continued evolving attention given to the entry level wheels. Thanks for the review Mike.

    Great to see the wheel does well for the price. There does seem a noticeable difference in build quality to my G29 though, I guess that's the trade-off. Thanks for the review!

    This looks very promising for that entry market. Lots of Thrustmaster reshuffling. Now with T128, 248 and upcoming DD... Can you confirm if any prior models are out of production?

  • @GreenBlueWalkthrough
    @GreenBlueWalkthrough ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review and my take on the petals is... all the budget went to the wheel and very little went to the petals so they are more or less just their to get someone started and that's it. Also I guess the cable thing s because of how the engineered the wheel base... Like it's the most effect they could make it... Still annoying and they could have lengthened the base a bit or something.

    Mike, I don't know if you're allowed to keep these products for a long period of time, but I would love to see a comparison between the G29/T128, G923/T248, and the CSL DD/Moza R5 (which seem to be the first three tiers of sim racing hardware, arguably with a fourth tier of older Thurstmaster belt drive wheels which are still in production which slot-in just below the entry-level DDs). For a college student, high schooler, or middle schooler working to save money, a few hundred dollars can make a massive difference, and it would be interesting for you to compare the experience and value quotient that each tier of hardware offers at a given price point.

      if you wanna save a ton of money, modding an old wheel could be an alternative.
      I modded my 42USD broken T150 and attempted to make a T300 RS killer: th-cam.com/users/shortsUT0GzR8hqAE
      a college engineering physics class or a high school robotics club most certainly have all the tools needed, just need to spend 10 bucks on the motor.

    Great review as always, Mike! Glad to see that Thrustmaster is still putting some thought and effort into their entry-level line. While we are now spoiled for choice with dozens of mid and high-end direct drive wheelbases and wheels on the market, a lot of sim racers seem to forget that most people start on budget wheels like the T128, and a bad experience early on can kill future interest/engagement in sim racing. It was disappointing to see Thrustmaster get dog piled on social media for releasing the T128 because everyone was expecting the new DD model instead. But, I really hope Logitch (and maybe even Moza/Fanatec) continue to innovate at the entry-level end of the market. More racers/users is always a good thing! 😁

    • @SimRacing604
      @SimRacing604  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for watching! And yeah, I was also disappointed that we hadn’t heard more about the DD by now, but perhaps the best things take time. And I think this T128 should put TM back in peoples good graces.

    Very interesting wheel for a beginner . Personally I have the t248 which is pretty good , but this could open new worlds to people who can't afford a fanatec or moza . Great vid though.

    Most reviewers have huge experience with high end wheels and most if not all have compared the T128 to these wheels therefore giving it a not so favourable time . 😮. You Mike are not one of those reviewers mate thank goodness . You have simply compared it to an entry level wheel and compared it against entry level wheels . If you have never experienced the high end wheels then you no know different and this T128 will seem like the bollocks pure and simple . 👌 So I I thank you Mike for an intelligent none bias review on a wheel that now costs 150GBP pure utter quality and price point for sim drivers whom have come ,like me, straight from dual shock controllers. Cheers Mike

    Just thinking out loud here Mike and I wonder if some of the design thinking has the word 'children' around it? eg; cables tucked out of the way of little fingers, brake pedal that a 7 year old can actuate ~ open question, interesting to hear other peoples thoughts. Thanks Mike great review as always!

      Hi pal ,bit unfair to be honest . Like I said if you know no different in comparison to high end wheels and come straight from dual shock to the T128 then this is going to seem like heaven . I am 57 ,not a kid ,all though I do act it sometime with my baby girls😅, 👶, and it's perfect for me ,I have no intentions of upgrading as I feel to upgrade to next level your price point goes to 400GBP and that jump although giving a better experience isn't justifable . JUST MY OPINION M8

    Great review Mike. I use an old-time fanatec wheel which is as solid as a rock. I'm a die-hard AMS1 fan which I bought on your recommendation years ago. I think the T128 is for sim racers like me who are into to it but not so deep where you feel that you need a £500 wheel and a rig. I have an issue with price of the T128 because when the T150 came out it was £100 on Amazon. Then when simracing got popular the price went up to £180-£200. I think Thrustmaster wheels are overpriced given the cheap pedals that comes with most wheels. Also the build quality is questionable.

      @Wow so good the naming is confusing tho. A replacement would normally have a higher number. So T150 would become T160 for example. Never heard of a replacement with a lower number. But thanks for the explanation!!

    Fantastic Review Mike, and it made me want to say a suggestion - but please - take it with an absolute grain of salt. But it's based around the time you were fascinated with the DOUG SCORE, and tried to mimic that for a while. But it's to do with the comment from roughly the 11:28 mark, where you (naturally) state that it's not really meant to compare with high-end DD wheels. But it made me automatically want to ask myself "is it better than a G29? / Is it better than a G923?" etc.... So then it made me wonder if it was worth doing any sort of GRAPH? so you could have a visible list of all the wheels you have actually done reviews for - then place it where you think it now fits in compared to those OTHER? wheels. It's just a suggestion - but probably way too much work than it's worth?

    The only upgrade you would need if your purpose isnt to impress people who are willing to spend thousands of dollars on a fake car in their room, imo, is a new set of pedals, which unfortunately will cost anywhere from 100-200$. Ive had this wheel for 8 months now and it shows no signs of wear and tear and is still running really well. Would 100% recommend to someone who isnt sure if they want to invest tons of money into a hobby
