Breaking in the Penn Battle III size 5000

We took our friend Joe to the end of Southwest Pass in November 2020. Big E got to try out his new Penn Battle III combo as well as his new GoPro 9.
He was fishing left handed while I tied his line and then switched back to his own pole. There were so many bull reds in that spot that we landed one after the other. Eventually we moved back up the river to target smaller fish for Joe to take home.

I jus got the 5000 I'm wonder can this reel handle 50-80lb fish? I felt the 6000 an 8000 r way too bulky I like the more compact size with the power to handle big fish.
