Explore more please. Go to hemwick carnal lane and fight the witch of hemwick. After you beat it go to the left of the forbidden woods once you get to the dogs caged up. Follow the path down until to run into a posion pool with giants. Find a hole a go up through it until u get to a ladder. Then go to issofecs clinic and turn right and get cainhurst summons. Then go back to hemwick lane and go to the grave stone guarded by the big guys with axes. You'll trigger a cut scene which will bring a horse drawn carriage that will take you to cain hurst castle.

For the blood gems at the end, there are different types like radial, droplet etc. which says next to the tier level (how good it is) only radials can fit into the star imprints but the red blood gem is a droplet, which can fit into any like the 3rd imprint and you can put another stone into the second imprint
The "sorceries" in this game are hunter tools that you pick up and can use, such as the Tiny Tonitrus you found, and many of these scale with arcane. You can also infuse your weapon with elemental gems which from what I remember makes them scale with your arcane stat instead of strength or skill. The good elemental gems require a bit of chalice dungeon farming from the dungeons that drop them but it can be really strong early on if you get lucky with the gem drops. A serrated fire weapon in an arcane build paired with a second bolt weapon like tonitrus alongside your tools is a lot of fun if you ever try it in a future playthrough
Jev, in all seriousness, you should try and explore some optional side areas for loot. Not saying you have to, but theres some pretty good shit you can find.
Also, dont put so much pressure on youself to have to fight a boss every vid, im sure nobody would complain if you take a couple episodes to just hunt for loot and explore side paths. As long as you enjoy the game, we're along for the ride.
lore breakdown is, there's other worldy beings called Amygdala's they are "the Great Ones" that can't be seen until you've ascended by gaining insight like the mad man's knowledge so it's you ascending or preparing to ascend to becoming a higher being, the scholar you saw outside above the lake had multiple eyes, this was because he was trying to ascend to "see" the blood you inject yourself with is the blood of the ascended ones, which is from ebrietas which you can find in a lower dungeon area as well as the celestial emissary boss, the village started using the blood given by the church from ebrietas who they had trapped to steal blood from, after the village had used too much they started to beastify similar to the way your beast blood pellets work but full blown, the hunters dream is another reality it's not within the space of the village, same with the nightmare realms you enter that's because the Great Ones have lowered the veils between realities, this is bloodborne in a nutshell

Jev so the thing at 3:31 are basically mini runes. In order to unlock them and actually use them you have to go to hemwick charnel lane and defeat the (optional boss) which is located right when you spawn at the grand cathedral. After defeating the boss you pick up the “rune workshop tool” and you use it at the hunters dream right next to the weapon upgrades.
at that point the witch aint even optional

Watching you go through the same trials I had to so many years ago is incredible, bloodborne was my first souls game and it was a learning expirence to say the least, also the higher your insight the more enemies you'll face/see (giant bug things) and you'll also see different moves from current enemies, and yes last video that thing did try to grab you, do your best not to get grabbed by it lmfao

The tiny tonitrus item you picked up is a sorcery. It shoots down lightning rods at the cost of quicksilver bullets. But you need some arcane stats to use it. Another things too, bloodstone chunks will be available in the next area so you’re chilling on those
I still recommend going to Hemwick Charnel Lane, you'll smash the boss pretty easily and beating them gets you the rune workshop tool. Those things you've been picking up like "communion" are caryll runes, and you can only equip them once you get the rune workshop tool. I think it is quite important to get. Also, you are about to enter the hunter's nightmare, which is very very lategame, there are only 3 more story bosses essentially. There are many more optional bosses as well as the dlc. I STRONGLY recommend doing the dlc before defeating the last boss in the nightmare, after defeating that boss the game state changes again like how in elden ring when you defeat maliketh, leyndell gets buried in ash.
You may also want to look at some guides for certain secrets to get to some of the bosses, they are pretty strangely out of the way and would be quite hard to find on your own.
You can put the blood gem in your third weapon slot, which can free up a slot... Also, I know you don't want to fight optional bosses, but
1. Theres one to the right of the gran cathedral that gives you an important item that its really helpful (at the end of the hemwick channel and it alows you to use runes). After you kill Rom, in the gran cathedral you can fight a hunter that gives you a rune you can use that helps you a lot (this runes are like the talismans on elden ring)
2. THE BEST FARMING SPOT IN THE GAME is the lecture building, if you have a tonsile stone an amygdala can take you there (go to the right when you are facing the grand cathedral)
3. ¡¡IMPORTANT!!! in the forbbiden forest there is an item behind two big ass snakes that gives you frenzy resistance (deep sea rune), cuz if you think some of this stuff is annoying it can get WORSE, A LOT WORSE. (I recomend you to do this cuz man, my game was buggy and the rune wasnt there so I had to play like this and the experience is terrifyin).
All of this is optional, but it is important to keep your experience "just" difficult and not borderline depressing. So keep that in mind, but again, optional.

The eye icon at the top right is insight and that basically shows more going on in the world like the big spiders on the wall etc… later in the game there is a boss which requires a level of insight, 40 I believe. Love the vids as always Jev!!!

Hey Jev! There's a fun little feature that makes me super excited everytime I gain access to DarkBeast Paarl and One Reborn, its the limb breaking feature and breaking each and everyone of these bosses limbs are so fun and satisfying.
edit: Nevermind, you immediately found it.
In case you needed one more comment about it... go right at the entrance to the cathedral where you fought Vicar Amelia, you're gonna need that special item.
And don't finish the main game bosses if you want to fight the DLC bosses without having to play the game from the start again (it doesn't work like Elden Ring, you won't be able to just carry on and backtrack after you beat the final boss)

loving the bloodborne vids, i know you aint looking for many optional bosses unless they are hard/fun but if you need more/better socketing gems for your weapons give the chalice dungeons a try and the later dungeons will have some tough bosses that aren't copies of the story bosses
You’ll always be under leveled if you keep running past every encounter that isn’t a boss. So yes you’re under leveled.
He is almost 50 lol. There is no way he is underleveled, he just first tried a boss... He might be underleveled for the DLC and the hard Chalice Dungeons, especially Defiled. But it's obvious he is gonna rush to Wet Nurse and maybe fight Gehrman. At which point he will be around 55 or even 60.
Jev, there is a mechanic in bloodborne where you (and enemies) take extra damage if hit while sprinting, after an attack, or out of a roll. Its called counterhit damage, and it is part of the reason people get one shot so frequently in this game. Its a good thing to be aware of.
Was super excited that Kev started and made a series of bloodborne just for him to go about it this way, without actually exploring and trying to start or even find quest lines or fully deeply take in the game… disappointing to say the least. Nonetheless I will continue to watch and enjoy the vids, but if he put the content that he said he wouldn’t think people would like/enjoy I promise they would and be grateful for longer more in-depth/mindless exploring.

The more insight you gain the more things that were invisible before become able to be seen, all those aliens on the buildings were already there, you just couldn’t see them without enough insight, which I think is very cool
Btw Jev, you immediately go into new game + after you complete the final boss. So if you want to play the DLC, do it before the end of the base game otherwise you’ll have to do another run of the game. (DLC portal is in Cathedral Ward)
Jev there is another "vendor" in the hunter's dream. Its off to the left from the blood gem workshop inside the building. The vendor allows you to equip some runes that I've noticed you've started to collect. These runes act similarly to talismans in Elden Ring. Hope the tip helps out! Day 1 cod fan btw, keep grinding bro

You can buy some boss armor at the well for insight, also buying and equipping the lantern will help you see in low light areas while still allowing you to use 2 handed or gun in left hand. Also DLC is essential to the Bloodborne experience
This is the one of the cutest little things that you can do in life is ring a little bell episode
The alien who is on the side of building that was trying to grab you, takes you and teleports you to the DLC
Watching Jev voluntarily bypassing all the best parts of the game every episode is just painful

Once you have beaten all the bosses, please continue with the DLC
•If you want to play the DLC, you will need to get grabbed by the Amygdala, to find the right one.
Go back to the Grand Cathedral Ward, and go to the left door. Once outside, go behind the gravestones and an just wait for a big. The Amygdala will grab you and will be teleported to the DLC.
I recommend playing the DLC after you defeat the final boss from the base game.
But an important note, you will be forced to do New Game +, to avoid it, when you defeat the final boss, let the text “Prey Slaughtered” or whatever it says, and use a Bold Hunter’s Mark. And you’ll be back to the workshop, and go to the Grand Cathedral Ward.

you should try going to cainhurst castle. it’s a bit of a process. you must go back to the forbidden woods and find a secret cave that’s underground, look around for a ladder once you’re down there. once you find it, go all the way up and it’ll take you back into yharnam. it actually takes you relatively close to where you first started the game (iosefkas clinic). you can actually sneak into the clinic through a secret entrance and once you’re in, look around until you find the cainhurst summons. you then want to go to hemwick charnel lane that everyone’s been talking about and it’ll take you to cainhurst.
He’s missing so much content….jev please explore more, it’s worth it. Also go for the secret ending
THE GOAT, If you decide to do any of the side bosses, you should look into getting to Forbidden Castle Cainhurst!
The L2 attacks for this weapon are really good too

Jev, the giant creatures trying to grab you are called Amygdala.
If you let the the Amygdala that is outside of Cathedral Ward (from the bonfire to the left - where you grabbed the gear you are wearing) grab you, you will enter the DLC.

Hey jev, just off the top of my head you have missed 5 bosses. 3 of which are pretty core experience bosses. Yes you can go through at the end, but you will likely be over leveled and over upgraded and it might make some of the fights pretty easy
please do the optional areas they are so worth it, there are quite a few you have missed already that would level you up quite a bit and more bloodbornes always good.
About the gems, the last slot is moon shaped, so you simply need a moon shaped gem to put in it. You'll find one eventually
Jev, if you need to farm Blood Vials or QS Bullets, use the default Hunter's Mark to respawn at the lantern without having to load back into the Hunter's Dream. Usually I go to the Great Bridge lantern and kill the troll and the two werewolves for about 6 blood vials per run. It usually takes me 3 minutes max to get 20 blood vials.
Edit: If you want the True Ending btw, you're going to have to collect 3 umbilical cords. You should do this because then you are able to actually fight the final boss. You can't fight the final boss without doing this.

The people telling you to try to fully explore the lore of the game, I genuinely think they want you to understand what the games meant to be, I don’t think they’re trying to clown on you for not understanding the game, I think they just want you to know the real experience
The scary thing is that, those "aliens" Jev, have been there the whole time.
The blood gems have different shapes and your weapon has different shaped slots that only matching gems can fit in. The first two slot shapes on your weapon are the most common shape (Radial) whereas the third, crescent moon shaped one (called Waning) is a bit rare to find gems of. However there is a unique shape called “droplet” which can fit into any shaped slot, and you currently have one of those equipped in your second gem slot. So you can move them around to have the droplet gem in the third waning slot and 2 other basic radial gems in the first 2 slots

the reason you cant equip anything into the third blood gem slot is because you only have radial gems, if you read the description of the gems you'll know there are three shapes, radial, triangle and waning and for the third slot on your weapon you need a waning gem. you can get low level ones just by running through the game but if you want higher tier gems go into the chalice dungeons specifically the item you got from blood starved beast. you can place it in the hunters dream at a tombstone with the correct materials and it allows you to get better gems and better gear. im sure we would all love as much Bloodborne content as you can put out! Obviously, we don't, but Jev himself has stated so many times that his videos are kind of short because he has an upload schedule to be on track with and he already spends soo much time stumbling around in the dark... So interestingly enough if you ever get a lot of insight before fighting Rom, you can actually see those giant multi arm beings on the buildings early in the game.
In fact there’s an armor set that if you try to pick it up an “invisible” hand grabs and damages you. If you have high insight you’ll see that it’s one of these monsters that grab you.
Following main bosses only will ruin side bosses later you'll be too overleveled ignore whatever wiki you're following and explore yourself. You missed the runes system completely because you ignore the path outside amelia's church, and you can go backto the hunter you pushed out the ledge and grab his badge to extend the shop
Jevs basaiclly doing a challenge run, I was doing double his damage when I got here
Noooooooo Aww Jev try to get the umbilical cords so you get unlock the secret boss at the end of the game. Im not going to type the other locations because you can just grab them but the missable one is The second piece in Iosefka’s Clinic, guarded by Iosefka herself. You’ll need to kill her to get it, but only after you’ve dealt with Rom, The Vacuous Spider. If you kill her before that, you’ll get a Caryll Rune instead. Find the cave with the poisonous lake in Forbidden Woods, near the small village. Cross the lake, climb the ladder and go around the clinic. Climb another ladder, and go inside. Iosefka is in the upstairs room, on the operating table.

Probably not happening. That fight was awesome, but if it prolongs the game more and is an option, he’s not going to do it, in order to move onto the next game

I dont know if anyone said it already, but these aliens are called Great Ones and they're kinda like gods in the lore. The smaller aliens that are normal enemies are people that were put in an experiment to become a great one just so you know.
One thing, in the forbidden woods with the dog cages where you got the tonsil stone, up the hill and to the left is a cave that leads to another area and in the back leads to a secret that could lead to a secret ending.
As much as I like to watch these videos. I could never play games like this😂 so boring in person for me but then I remember that Jev edits like 3 hours off a whole 10 minute video😂
Fun fact about insight : the alien you see on the walls where always there you just need enough insight to see them and it's the same for other thing in the game like the doll you need at least 1 insight to see her alive

Frankly I'd find it hilarious at this point if jev just dropped the game as a whole with how many of the lore obsessed fanboys demanding he do everything their way are in the comments. Especially if he made some kinda sit down talk video basically just ranting about those people like he did with the one guy who tagged him on twitter. I personally find the series hilarious as it is. I mean the most entertaining parts of these games is the boss fights. He's already said he'd be watching lore videos in his free time, if he wants to do a boss gauntlet I'd say let him. Part of what makes jev so entertaining is the rage, and if him playing the game "incorrectly" brings more of that I'm all for it, in game lore be damned.
IMO im sorta glad bloodborne doesnt have magic becuase hunters will use whatever is at there disposable.And alot of stuff in this game is very primitive but enhanced wich imo is 1 of the best thing about this game and fits very well with bloodborne

I would reccomend that you explore a bit more. Lots of hidden bosses and side-bosses to kill, and i think many of them would make great content!
Keep the insight at 40 so you get to kill a cool boss btw.

the reason you couldn't put a gem in that third slot on your Holy Blade was because it's a different type of blood gem, which you have none of. The gem type is determined by the shape; the star shape of the Holy Blade's first two slots are radial gem slots, and the third slot's is of what I'll call Crescent gems because I can't recall the real name. the Red Blood gem (the one boosting rally), meanwhile, is a Droplet gem, which can be put into ANY slot no matter what, but they'll never be as powerful as, say, a radial gem can be. BUT, you can get the best Droplet gems from a later game area, while the best radial gems require going into the Chalice dungeons.
