I’m 75 and I know I’m not a Village person- I’d dislike everything about it. I’m a New Englander, like the seasons, hate the heat and I’m a loner. BUT I’m fascinated by the Villages and the lifestyle. I’m very happy for all the people who love it and I certainly don’t feel I need put anyone down or convince them there is anything wrong with the Villagers. Party on!
We are moving to the Villages in one month and are getting so excited. We know the summers may get rough but the payoff for a nice winter (we are currently in Pennsylvania) well overrides a couple sweltering months. Thank you for doing this channel. You really helped answer so many questions we had about making the leap. In 2009 I visited my parents who recently moved from the Florida Keys to the Villages. I took a golf cart ride to Lake Sumter Landing and absolutely fell in love with the experience. Now 13 years later we are making the jump. See you when we get there.
I'm so excited for you! This is a fun place! I rented June, July and August to see if I could take the summers here and UT was consistently 2 degrees cooler and the humidity was lower than in NC where I had been living. You'll love it here!

That was a great comment on the dog pee issue, Jerry. Value your neighbors and their dogs, more than your grass. That’s the priority. We have wonderful neighbors with four Australian Shepherds. They were going to fence in their small yard to separate our properties, but we told them don’t do it, let the Shepherds have the use of our acreage. We each only had to fence in our front to completely enclose the properties together. Lots of happy dogs. I love seeing them racing around the entire property as they play, knowing how much better their lives are.
Your vlogs are so uplifting and positive. Ignore negative morons like Doug, and don't worry about your teeth, hair or anything. It's your up-beat, happy, and positive attitude that is so attractive. Please keep the vlogs coming. I live in Toronto, and hope your cruise up to Canada was a good experience, notwithstanding the cold weather. Come up to Muskoka, north of Toronto in the summer. Its beautiful! Full of nice folks from south of the border enjoying the seasonal weather. We have annual summer neighbours from San Diego and Tulsa for example. My wife and I are newly retired and will doing a Villages lifestyle visit soon.

Linda, don’t feel bad about your teeth. They look fine to me because they are a part of your unending smile. I took penicillin for years as a child, like 5 years straight, maybe longer, and then later as a young adult I took tetracycline. My teeth are gray, but didn’t get that way until much later when I was in my 50s. I hate it, but nothing I can do unless I spend thousands of dollars on caps. Not happening. I am self conscious about it.

I'm into crafting so this is wonderful news about Hobby Lobby coming to The Villages. That driveway party had me grinning from ear to ear watching all the fun everyone was having! Hi Jerry and Linda, just thought I’d share some doctor tips from my friend. Surprise, I hate going to doctors and avoid it whenever possible, but my friend has made it an art form of courting favor with all his docs and it is very effective. He builds relationships through the power of food. Yep brings to them, healthy store bought treats or sometimes donuts or makes them home made sweets, remembers their special days like bdays and holidays. It’s very effective. With my parents, I did the same honoring the docs and staff for their wonderful efforts for various minor surgeries they went through. Love seeing you both. Today, Gizmo was giving off a lot of loving looks in the background. Aren’t dogs wonderful, always bringing joy into the world? 😍😍😍 Have a wonderful day! Stay happy and safe! 🐾
We fell in love with that great kool aid during our Feb lifestyle visit and are coming back in a week to work with our designer on our new Woodside. The Villages is the cleanest place I've ever seen and people love being there. Don't fight it folks.

Hi Jerry and Linda, thanks for sharing another excellent Mailbag Monday video. You mentioned seeing Louisville KY from there you used to live. Back in 1987, while holidaying in Southern NSW Australia, myself and some friends put out a long antenna across a nearby fiend, connected to a radio and managed to receive 840 kHz WHAS Louisville KY USA on radio on one occasion. We use bins for our garbage here in Melbourne Australia, though we have a bin for general garbage, paper, another bin for cardboard and bottles and another bin for green waste (leaves, sticks, branches). Hi...Love Your Videos. I have a 2021 EZ Go cart with a Lithium battery. I got 55 miles and with the gauge showing empty but no sign of any speed reduction. Once the cart slows down dramatically I am supposed to get about 5 one mile extensions by flipping the switch off and waiting a couple of minutes. Then flip the switch back on and I can drive the cart about a mile. I can do this about 5 times before fully draining the battery. Flipping the switch off resets the system. Take care everyone.

We were advised by a neighbor to freeze scraps until trash day, to avoid smelly trash. On trash day we may have one small frozen grocery bag. We also use a trash container in the garage like you and Linda.
I've seen a video where the dog walker has attached a water bottle style container to the leash that flips open to squirt the water to rinse off the urinated area clear on sidewalk, pole or grassy areas. Was in a city where it was basically concrete walksite. Was so kind to see. Im a pet lover but respect others also.
Love when you share pictures of your past!!! My favorite in this video was Linda and her sister Connie in their band uniforms. :) Linda, you have an absolutely beautiful smile so please do not take to heart that comment regarding your teeth. When we get up in years having most if not all our natural teeth regardless of the color is a victory so give yourself a pat on the back for that. And the same goes for hair, and you both have heads of hair that many 60+ year olds would be envious of which includes me and my back of the head baseball size bald spot husband.

Hey y'all! I've lived in an electric golf cart community for 7 years and haven't ever heard of a fire in an electric golf cart. They are easy to maintain and very quiet. However, long trips like you can take in the Villages if you desire, a gas cart would be better!
It shouldn't but it does blow me away as to the rudeness and lack of consideration some folks have as to the STUPID comments that truly are a waste of time. Linda and Jerry, your appearance is very attractive. Linda your smile is contagious! And to be honest I didn't even notice anything off about your teeth. Jerry I know a few guys who would give anything to have that wonderful head of hair you have been blessed with! I agree with other folks on here. Do not give them the time of day with useless questions. Breath of fresh air and sunshine and you bring in the funshine!
I really love your Mail bag Monday. I visited my parents in the Villages a couple weeks ago and came home to cold and snowshoeing here in Austria. Would love to come visit again. The Villages is a besutiful olsce and so well organised! Clean and pretty! Loved the swimming and bike riding!
With Electric carts…when figuring the range, always subtract about 15% from what the dealers tell you…as the batteries age they become less able to hold a full charge. Lithiums are better, but very expensive…..Battery carts are more expensive initially to buy and more expensive to operate over time, especially when you add the cost of battery replacement and maintenance to those batteries. Many people think they are helping the environment by going to battery carts and cars…but in reality a coal or fossil fuel power plants are making the electric power for the grid you are plugging your cart into…..just buy the 50 mpg( times 5 gallon tank so 250 miles) Yamaha cart and make it easy for yourself.
The comments about the mosquito fog truck reminds me as a kid growing up in St. Louis Missouri we would go to the drive-in and around dusk a truck would come through and spray clouds of "fog" before the cartoons came on. We did not know it was to kill mosquitos and we just would run in and out of the clouds and flap our arms and have fun laughing.... guess we were really poisoning ourselves but here I am at age 64 and still kicking so...no harm but a fond memory nonetheless

Awe - I have identical twin granddaughters. They are such a joy!👧🏼👧🏼 I remember watching the Doublemint Gum commercials as a kid & thinking how fun it would be to have twins. No luck with my own children - but the biggest thrilling surprise ever when my daughter & SIL went for the first ultrasound. My Avery & Aria started kindergarten this year.
Pete, I have seen many designer homes in St Catherine where smaller fences have been put up, then screened with landscaping. Take a ride down the bike path behind the homes I'm St Catherine for good examples. Those homes tend to face bike paths and have wooded areas just beyond. You can also enclose (surround) your back yard with bushes planted real tight together to give you a "natural fence" so to speak. Have seen it done at alot of designer homes that don't have kissing Lani's. A good type of bush to use for that are podocarpus.

@@ctrawick3 Hi Chris!!!! Life here is truly a dream- as awesome as Jerry and Linda’s videos are and The Villages official videos and Gold Wingnut and Skip Smith’s - nothing compares to living here. I didn’t do a lifestyle visit as I bought “sight unseen”, never having visited The Villages. I was a nurse in WA and they wouldn’t let us leave the state without quarantining for 2 weeks upon returning- so I just my home online without visiting- I figured- “I am not a tree- if I don’t like it - I can move!!!” I don’t think even a lifestyle visit would do this place justice. The Villages has thought of everything to make life easy and fun!!! Soooooo much fun and beauty and adventure and FREEDOM and relaxation and POSSIBILITY!!! There are singles and couples groups to that have offer more fun and adventure!!! I belong to the Fenney Fun Singles group - we have sooooooooo many activities - we have a bus taking us to St Pete Beach and Bongos Bar next Monday for the day, there are buses taking us spring training games and airboat ride, dinners and dances and games and there are multi-day trips too. Every neighborhood has driveway parties that anyone from any neighborhood can attend- if you are out in your golf car and hear music- just follow the sound of the music and ENJOY the party !! And for your kids/grandkids - The Villages has Kids Camps in the summer, spring break and Christmas time!!! If you still want or need to work- lots and lots of job openings her in The Villages and surrounding areas - many with eligibility to The Villages Charter schools. Yep- The Villages soooo badly wants to attract GREAT people to work in The Villages to make our life GREAT- that we have private schools for the children of those working for The Villages- from early education to high school - teaching more than 3600 students. And The Villages is building more private schools just south of where I live in the new “support community”. My only regret about moving here is that I didn’t mover here SOONER!!

We enjoyed a Caribbean cruise in February and have two more planned this year. When we travel I do a daily Facebook blog. Results in people from everywhere replying with tips and tricks. And some nay-sayers who hate cruising. You two, you could fill a months worth of shows from a cruise. Hope you find yourself on a cruise soon.
We love your show it has been so informative, we visited in Dec, left mesmerized. We talked and talked and finally decided to purchase. We bought a Beautiful Anchor-V in Hawkins Cottage Village West. It is closing on April 13th. I'm retiring the end of May and we should be full time Villages residents by fourth of July. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay 😎😎😎

You guys are so cute! I have been on an all day, 3/28/22, marathon watching you. I even went shopping with you to Walmart. You are easy to listen to, there's nothing wrong with your apprewance, and your presentations are informative and great entertainment. What worries me is no tee times and possible slow play. Like they say, I'm all flaps down, but no thrusters. Living at the Cal/Ore border on the coast, it's too cold here, but I have my one acre space, ocean, mountains and huge redwood trees.

Another FUN and FANTASTIC show!!! Jerry, Doug obvi hasn't seen the photos of you all from high school. When God made you Jerry he said, "I'm going to give this young man MORE hair than head AND make it RED!!! This will be FUN!!!" Looks like you haven't lost a single strand, its just mellowed to distinguished silver. Your barber really does a great job of wrastlin' it into some type of order! LOLOL!!! Trash Pro Tip from South TX: FREEZE your stinky kitchen trash! I use a big yogurt container or a coffee can and line with a produce bag and put all kitchen scraps like onion bits, garlic bits, meat scraps and meat fat (after it COOLS) into that bag and then put lid on it and put it in freezer until trash day. (If freezer full then keep in fridge.) Also, for meat trays I do the same and just put them in grocery bag and into freezer or fridge. Trash only picked up once a week here and if I put that stuff into can in garage until trash day it would STINK!!! I have 3 dogs (2 bigs and 1 little) and have a separate small metal trash can in back yard that I keep poop trash in until trash day-that's another level of stink don't want in garage for a week. But try freezing your stinky kitchen trash-it doesn't stink up fridge if use plastic produce bag inside tight lidded container. Again, GREAT SHOW!!!!

They were going to fence in their small yard to separate our properties, but we told them don’t do it, let the Shepherds have the use of our acreage. We each only had to fence in our front to completely enclose the properties together. Lots of happy dogs. I love seeing them racing around the entire property as they play, knowing how much better their lives are.

Your vlogs are so uplifting and positive. Ignore negative morons like Doug, and don't worry about your teeth, hair or anything. It's your up-beat, happy, and positive attitude that is so attractive. Please keep the vlogs coming. I live in Toronto, and hope your cruise up to Canada was a good experience, notwithstanding the cold weather. Come up to Muskoka, north of Toronto in the summer. Its beautiful! Full of nice folks from south of the border enjoying the seasonal weather. We have annual summer neighbours from San Diego and Tulsa for example. My wife and I are newly retired and will doing a Villages lifestyle visit soon.

Linda, don’t feel bad about your teeth. They look fine to me because they are a part of your unending smile. I took penicillin for years as a child, like 5 years straight, maybe longer, and then later as a young adult I took tetracycline. My teeth are gray, but didn’t get that way until much later when I was in my 50s. I hate it, but nothing I can do unless I spend thousands of dollars on caps. Not happening. I am self conscious about it.

Hi Jerry and Linda, just thought I’d share some doctor tips from my friend. Surprise, I hate going to doctors and avoid it whenever possible, but my friend has made it an art form of courting favor with all his docs and it is very effective. He builds relationships through the power of food. Yep brings to them, healthy store bought treats or sometimes donuts or makes them home made sweets, remembers their special days like bdays and holidays. It’s very effective.
With my parents, I did the same honoring the docs and staff for their wonderful efforts for various minor surgeries they went through.
Love seeing you both. Today, Gizmo was giving off a lot of loving looks in the background. Aren’t dogs wonderful, always bringing joy into the world? 😍😍😍

Hi Jerry and Linda, thanks for sharing another excellent Mailbag Monday video. You mentioned seeing Louisville KY from there you used to live. Back in 1987, while holidaying in Southern NSW Australia, myself and some friends put out a long antenna across a nearby fiend, connected to a radio and managed to receive 840 kHz WHAS Louisville KY USA on radio on one occasion. We use bins for our garbage here in Melbourne Australia, though we have a bin for general garbage, paper, another bin for cardboard and bottles and another bin for green waste (leaves, sticks, branches). Hi...Love Your Videos. I have a 2021 EZ Go cart with a Lithium battery. I got 55 miles and with the gauge showing empty but no sign of any speed reduction. Once the cart slows down dramatically I am supposed to get about 5 one mile extensions by flipping the switch off and waiting a couple of minutes. Then flip the switch back on and I can drive the cart about a mile.
I can do this about 5 times before fully draining the battery. Flipping the switch off resets the system. Take care everyone.

We were advised by a neighbor to freeze scraps until trash day, to avoid smelly trash. On trash day we may have one small frozen grocery bag. We also use a trash container in the garage like you and Linda.
I've seen a video where the dog walker has attached a water bottle style container to the leash that flips open to squirt the water to rinse off the urinated area clear on sidewalk, pole or grassy areas. Was in a city where it was basically concrete walksite. Was so kind to see. Im a pet lover but respect others also.

My favorite in this video was Linda and her sister Connie in their band uniforms. :) Linda, you have an absolutely beautiful smile so please do not take to heart that comment regarding your teeth. When we get up in years having most if not all our natural teeth regardless of the color is a victory so give yourself a pat on the back for that. And the same goes for hair, and you both have heads of hair that many 60+ year olds would be envious of which includes me and my back of the head baseball size bald spot husband.

Hey y'all! I've lived in an electric golf cart community for 7 years and haven't ever heard of a fire in an electric golf cart. They are easy to maintain and very quiet. However, long trips like you can take in the Villages if you desire, a gas cart would be better!

With Electric carts…when figuring the range, always subtract about 15% from what the dealers tell you…as the batteries age they become less able to hold a full charge. Lithiums are better, but very expensive…..Battery carts are more expensive initially to buy and more expensive to operate over time, especially when you add the cost of battery replacement and maintenance to those batteries. Many people think they are helping the environment by going to battery carts and cars…but in reality a coal or fossil fuel power plants are making the electric power for the grid you are plugging your cart into…..just buy the 50 mpg( times 5 gallon tank so 250 miles) Yamaha cart and make it easy for yourself.
Some people haves nothing better to do than to say something negative about something. I think you guys look fantastic.

The comments about the mosquito fog truck reminds me as a kid growing up in St. Louis Missouri we would go to the drive-in and around dusk a truck would come through and spray clouds of "fog" before the cartoons came on. We did not know it was to kill mosquitos and we just would run in and out of the clouds and flap our arms and have fun laughing.... guess we were really poisoning ourselves but here I am at age 64 and still kicking so...no harm but a fond memory nonetheless

Awe - I have identical twin granddaughters. They are such a joy!👧🏼👧🏼 I remember watching the Doublemint Gum commercials as a kid & thinking how fun it would be to have twins. No luck with my own children - but the biggest thrilling surprise ever when my daughter & SIL went for the first ultrasound. My Avery & Aria started kindergarten this year.
Pete, I have seen many designer homes in St Catherine where smaller fences have been put up, then screened with landscaping. Take a ride down the bike path behind the homes I'm St Catherine for good examples. Those homes tend to face bike paths and have wooded areas just beyond. You can also enclose (surround) your back yard with bushes planted real tight together to give you a "natural fence" so to speak. Have seen it done at alot of designer homes that don't have kissing Lani's. A good type of bush to use for that are podocarpus.

I didn’t do a lifestyle visit as I bought “sight unseen”, never having visited The Villages. I was a nurse in WA and they wouldn’t let us leave the state without quarantining for 2 weeks upon returning- so I just my home online without visiting- I figured- “I am not a tree- if I don’t like it - I can move!!!” I don’t think even a lifestyle visit would do this place justice. The Villages has thought of everything to make life easy and fun!!! Soooooo much fun and beauty and adventure and FREEDOM and relaxation and POSSIBILITY!!! There are singles and couples groups to that have offer more fun and adventure!!! I belong to the Fenney Fun Singles group - we have sooooooooo many activities - we have a bus taking us to St Pete Beach and Bongos Bar next Monday for the day, there are buses taking us spring training games and airboat ride, dinners and dances and games and there are multi-day trips too. Every neighborhood has driveway parties that anyone from any neighborhood can attend- if you are out in your golf car and hear music- just follow the sound of the music and ENJOY the party !!
And for your kids/grandkids - The Villages has Kids Camps in the summer, spring break and Christmas time!!! If you still want or need to work- lots and lots of job openings her in The Villages and surrounding areas - many with eligibility to The Villages Charter schools. Yep- The Villages soooo badly wants to attract GREAT people to work in The Villages to make our life GREAT- that we have private schools for the children of those working for The Villages- from early education to high school - teaching more than 3600 students. And The Villages is building more private schools just south of where I live in the new “support community”.
My only regret about moving here is that I didn’t mover here SOONER!!

We enjoyed a Caribbean cruise in February and have two more planned this year. When we travel I do a daily Facebook blog. Results in people from everywhere replying with tips and tricks. You guys are so cute! I have been on an all day, 3/28/22, marathon watching you. I even went shopping with you to Walmart. You are easy to listen to, there's nothing wrong with your apprewance, and your presentations are informative and great entertainment. What worries me is no tee times and possible slow play. Like they say, I'm all flaps down, but no thrusters. Living at the Cal/Ore border on the coast, it's too cold here, but I have my one acre space, ocean, mountains and huge redwood trees.

When God made you Jerry he said, "I'm going to give this young man MORE hair than head AND make it RED!!! This will be FUN!!!" Looks like you haven't lost a single strand, its just mellowed to distinguished silver. Your barber really does a great job of wrastlin' it into some type of order! LOLOL!!!
Trash Pro Tip from South TX: FREEZE your stinky kitchen trash! I use a big yogurt container or a coffee can and line with a produce bag and put all kitchen scraps like onion bits, garlic bits, meat scraps and meat fat (after it COOLS) into that bag and then put lid on it and put it in freezer until trash day. (If freezer full then keep in fridge.) Also, for meat trays I do the same and just put them in grocery bag and into freezer or fridge. Trash only picked up once a week here and if I put that stuff into can in garage until trash day it would STINK!!! I have 3 dogs (2 bigs and 1 little) and have a separate small metal trash can in back yard that I keep poop trash in until trash day-that's another level of stink don't want in garage for a week. But try freezing your stinky kitchen trash-it doesn't stink up fridge if use plastic produce bag inside tight lidded container.

I remember the first video i ever saw I thought you totally had a toupee and that you were a former news broadcaster who was still doing it in retirement, who just had to be in front of the camera, now i know you're just a former teacher, now we're your students :) Taking a course on the villages and you have a head of hair to envy for sure!! :) :) Glad you saw my question about Hobby Lobby
