And remember, all of this is because a kid at Oda's school ran around spoiling Krillin's death in Dragon Ball for everyone. It left a mark on Oda when he was creating One Piece.
"Important characters only die during flashbacks in One Piece" was a running gag/meme for a long time. You noticed it, as do many other fans and reactors. And for a long time, One Piece fans joked about it, never worried that anyone we truly cared about would die. Marineford changed all that. And while it gets lost in the tragedy of Ace's death, it's important to remember that Luffy succeeded in rescuing his brother. Against all odds, with tons of luck and help, Luffy still accomplished what he set out to do. That Ace died anyway is in no way Luffy's fault; Luffy pushed himself far, far beyond his limits, breaking himself, sacrificing years of his life, and being forced to leave friends and allies behind. Who is to blame for Ace's death? You can blame Aikanu, for striking the fatal blow. You might even blame Ace, for being too proud and stubborn to let petty insults against his father figure go. A lot of blame can go to the World Government, for setting up a corrupt and oppressive regime, that made being born to the wrong person a 'crime' worthy of death. Regardless, things are never going to be the same again. Thanks for the reaction and the video.
Alright. Can we talk about the doctor? Because this dude deserves more credit. Imagine you are the doctor real quick: Your captain gets called by Whitebeard and after the call he goes: Cap: „Alrighty lads, one of our brothers from another mother, is being held prisoner by the Marines and they plan to execute him.“ Everybody of course goes: „Yeah no shit it‘s all over the news.“ Cap: „Yeah so anyway we‘re gonna raid their main base and we shall GET- HIM- BACK!“ Everybody cheers, sets off etc. skip forward You are now at Marineford. People are dying left and right and you are trying your best to get as many of them as possible outta there. But during the whole event you find out some crazy things. The little brother of your brother from another mother, broke in to Impel down, broke out with a whole gang of criminals and came to rescue his brother the same way that you have. You learn also that your brother from another mother is actually the son of Gold Rogers wife and that the brother that came to rescue your brother from another mother, also is the son of the leader of the revolutionaries, but still the brother from another mother that your brother from another mother, grew up with before you guys became family. Anyway, after a successful rescue, a VERRRRY long day and you reaching the point of absolute emotional and physical exhaustion. Akainu gets Ace. You do not see it happen, but you hear Marco scream and start running over, only to see your brother from another mother leaning on the other brother from another mother that is not your own brother from another mother. You run over, you are the first doctor to be on the scene and you go: „Aight, let me look at the wound, we gonna get you patched u-“ A Chest. You see a chest through the back of your brother from another mother. And it‘s not the correct one. You see multiple organs and veins, completely burned and blood flowing from too many parts where it shouldn’t flow from. You know it‘s impossible to save him. So now, you have to tell that to the little brother, who more desperately than anyone else, tried to save your brother from another mother. And he says: „Hey what are you doing? YOU ARE A DOCTOR AREN‘T YOU?“; And… you are a doctor… you are… but you can’t save him. You can see that the guy asking you, does not understand that a doctor can’t fix everything. But you are exhausted and honestly you do not even want to talk back, because you WISH you could be a doctor that can save him in that moment. And so, you can‘t say anything. You can’t say „Yes I‘m a doctor“ and get the hopes of his „real“ little brother up. And you don’t want to say no, because inside you are still hoping for a miracle to come. Only for the miracle worker themself, Emporio Ivankov, to say that… no miracle is coming… there is truly no hope for him left… And now back to you not being the doctor anymore. NO amount of therapy is ever gonna fix that mans mental state. He will wake up every once in a while, with a cold sweat, remembering, the face of Luffy, Donut Ace and the line „you are a doctor aren’t you?“. There is no way in hell that bro ever recovered from hearing that. Anyway, I just wanted to give the guy some much deserved recognition, cause other characters always overshadow this guy for everyone the first time, but out of everything in One Piece where people heard something very hurtful being said to them, even if they were not supposed to. Nothing would come close to that line being said to him by the „real“ little brother of the guy dying in his arms, in front of you. That dude deserves the forget forget fruit, cause that is the only way possible that that man can ever live a happy life again.
he doesn't even need to look for long to tell ace is done for. he glances at the wound and, within a second, can tell ace's spine and heart have been _burned away._ there is no recovery, especially not with the technology available to them. the only things that could save him are a devil fruit or vegapunk. and the only healer on the whitebeard side, marco, is currently powerless. too exhausted, too wounded, and too much seastone to regenerate a third of ace's torso. see, back when marco got shot by kizaru, people were talking about how the cuffs were there to make taking marco down easier. no. they were there to prevent marco from healing ace.
I didn't watch it week to week, but I was reading it. I caught up in the Impel Down arc, and have been reading it ever since. Ace is still and has always been in the top ten of any popularity polls for a reason. To think that our very first confirmed, onscreen, no fake out deaths was this. I wish Sengoku HAD let Garp up. When he said he was going to skill him, I believed it. It was over a decade ago, before I knew anything really. I just knew he could do it, no clue how, but I KNEW he could. Now I know.
Not sure what Alicia expected Ivankov to do. "You have to at at least try." No amount of hormones can regrow new organs or regenerate bones and flesh like Wolverine. It was a hole right through Ace's body, through spine, organs, and ribcage. I mean I get it, we all wished/wanted any and all help at that moment, but still.
@@dusky5535It is, but I feel like the general consensus around that statement is that “People don’t die when they should.” But some people have exaggerated the statement so hard that it has looped back to be an unironic and literal statement instead of a joke about how Pell and Pound get to live through impossible circumstances.

Since you started this series, this was the episode I was most anticipating to see how you would react. The times you mentioned no one important really dies in One Piece just made my heart ache, knowing this would happen. The story is written so well to always give you that sense of hope and then to just take it away in this last moment. This was a big changing point for everyone I've seen react to it.
I remember reading this moment in the manga and thinking "no way they do this" and the title of the next chapter was literally "the death of Portgas D. Ace" and I can probably speak for everyone when I say no one was ever the same since
35:30 - in the DUB the Doc tells Luffy "there's nothing to treat, his organs are gone.", rather than say they're burned, which makes sense when he just got a fist of pure Magma rammed through his torso, his heart was missed, but the damage is still too extensive to repair, even Chopper couldnt heal that.
From fighting an admiral and losing his crew, to being alone on an island with no idea how to get back, to breaking into prison to save his brother and ended up almost dying multiple times, to forcing his way into a war he had no right to be in, getting his ass kicked by the worlds strongest people, to finally saving his brother only to watch him die in front of his eyes.... The journey and constant loss that Luffy had to go through in a desperate plea to save his brother truly makes this the most impactful death in One Piece outside of maybe Roger. Rest in peace, Ace. You were loved completely.
"You'd be forgiven for thinking this is a story with a lighthearted conclusion. One that has been earned built through a tremendous climax, and... it has. But this isn't one of those stories."

Here’s a fun little story about my first experience with one piece. When I told my friends who were already caught up to the series that I got into one piece they asked who my favorite character is which I didn’t have one yet until I reached alabasta and met Ace where he instantly became my favorite character…my “friends” then proceeded to send me picture of Ace dying every day until I finally got it to the episode
@adventuroushermit2590 fake friends. Emotional moments like that need to hurt. It's why I got frustrated with Devilman Crybaby being over-trauma-hyped. It probably would have ruined me, if I hadn't been spoiled
For 400 episodes we have a vague and distant hatred of Jinbei thinking "oh he's the guy who let Arlong loose in the world." Then we meet him and it instantly becomes "I LOVE THIS FKN DUDE"
I still remember reading the manga when this happened. It left off with Ace getting punched through. All next week, I was thinking 'he's going to be okay, right? He can just shrug off damage, right? Oda wouldn't kill a major character outside of a flashback, right?' Then I read the next chapter and my heart broke all over again.
Whats messed up is that Oda makes you feel safe before delivering the worst blow With both Merry and Ace we thought that the worst is over, now everything will be alright and then everything falls apart right in front of you
It's one of the biggest spoilers that can be made in One Piece, but no one can spoil how it happened and what you felt when you saw it. Rest in peace, Ace. He died happy knowing that he was loved. 💔😭😭😭😭
I woke up this morning and saw you posted this and Shikanoko. Knowing which ep this was, I had to watch this first so Shikanoko could cheer me back up. I've had a sibling constantly flirting with death's doorstep since we were about flashback Ace&Luffy's ages due to medical concerns. When I first watched this arc, I INTENSELY felt Luffy's drive that "I have to do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure they're okay, because I will never forgive myself if I don't." Luffy's ugly cry breaks me every time. I've been dreading rewatching this ep with you for weeks now and was considering skipping it. I saw the Shikanoko post and figured I'd do the ol' "Grave of the Fireflies + My Neighhbor Totoro double feature" Thank you for this unintentional catharsis. Now onward to silly deer animu.
31:46 Oh no, Garp was going to kill him. Literally, there is a comic that shows what if the other admiral did it catch him in time and he sinks the whole island with one punch.
Smart writing I have to admit. Fake us out with the death in alabasta ark only to show Pell didn’t actually die. A lot of close calls hundreds of episodes later but no main deaths luring us into a false sense of security. Then hundreds of episodes later not only do they kill a major character, but they fake us out by making it look like he was gonna make it out. From this point on you’re never gonna know who’s gonna be safe. Love this show
23:12 and there it is, the moment that changed the entirity of one piece and anime as a whole forever, rest in peace Ace, your sacrafice will never be forgotten😢💔
i remember when i saw this the first time... my emotions where complete chaos...but i cound not cry like when merry says good bye because there was one thing that burns bright and strong .... my burning wish to see akainu in a bodybag.
Thank you Alicia. its rare that people bingeing one piece realize. Yall can get the next episode. We couldn't. We waited. We sat with it and stewed with it and dreamed about it. Think of how many episodes you get "I need the next one now." It's something I don't think enough new fans understand.
For us, there is an odd sadness felt here. Not just that of losing a loved one, but watching someone you care about lose a loved one. I cant put my finger on it. Its not simply empathy...
I miss Ace with all of my being! 🔥❤️ That said, I’m so very tired of people complaining that Oda sensei does not often kill off characters. Ace’s death is proof that he will do so. Luffy’s reaction to Ace’s death destroyed and resonated with me on a personal level because of my own experience. Yeah I did not go off running straight into the middle of a war like Luffy did to save their sibling (biological or not) but I experienced my own personal hell with regards to the death of a loved one. What defines a person? Oda does not kill off characters willy-nilly because he is more focused on the will of a character. What is more impactful, killing a man outright or taking away/destroying their dream and having their loved ones/friends try to carry on their loved ones will for the rest of their lives without being able to move forward without being able to do so. I say that the latter is more painful because it lingers and has the potential to destroy a living person to the point that they lose their sense of being.
26:40 no need to apologize. Its happens. I never had that reaction before this either. We were sitting down, 3 friends watching this. 2 of them had watched it already, and I was the new one. We 3 were experts on talking shit and dark humor and stuff, and during one piece I would either try to call out what happened, or make fun of the worst situation possible. For the first time, something so impossible for a group like us, we stayed silent for 10 straight episodes. The only thing tha happened between episodes was me getting out of my seat to hit "next episode". A certain dark character was the thing that broke our silence as I went "Damn You!!! _________" This is a strong arc. I remember when Whitebeard was fighting Akainu, and Whitebeard was about to bring it down to Akainu (i dont remember if it was in my head or out loud) I was screaming "Kill Him!!!!" I never had such a strong, outloud reaction to a fictional character.
Ever since they arrived at the archipelago, it's just been loss after loss. This goes to show the scale of the major players in One Piece and just how unready for the new world the strawhats really are.
This arc was ongoing when i started watching one piece and this episode was out by time i made it this far and it killed me inside i think i cried over it for the next week
I'm been there, Ace's death was the unimaginable moment that shook me to the core and its a tearful reminder for further arcs for those who knew Ace before meeting Luffy.
I was 8 yo when this episode aired. Ace was my favorite character in one piece.(im an only child and wanted to have a big brother just like him)I’m 22 now and still remember how sad and disappointed I was.
One thing I liked about this episode, as sad as it was, was that they start baiting you with thinking Whitebeard was gonna sacrifice himself and Ace would live to inherit his dream, and it ends being the other way around
When you go back and watch again, you realize that Ace's fate was sealed the moment Luffy and crew go to Skypeia. Blackbeard was going to bring in Luffy to exchange for his warlord seat, but Luffy managed to hit the updraft stream first. Blackbeard then went to find another suitable exchange, and it was Ace that he found.
I HAVENT SEEN YOUR ONE PIECE REACTIONS IN AROUND A YEAR NOW PROBABLY SINCE ALABASTA BECAUSE TH-cam DIDNT SAVE WHAT EPISODE I WAS WATCHING BUT I TOTALLY DIDNT JUST COME BACK FOR THIS VIDEO 😭😭
The thing that hurts me is luffy's reaction, the constant flick between shock, anger and saddness or it all to boil over in his head to just unbeliviable despair as he just crys.... hurts

Виноват Тич. Он всё начал.
Alright. Can we talk about the doctor?
Because this dude deserves more credit. Imagine you are the doctor real quick:
Your captain gets called by Whitebeard and after the call he goes:
Cap: „Alrighty lads, one of our brothers from another mother, is being held prisoner by the Marines and they plan to execute him.“
Everybody of course goes: „Yeah no shit it‘s all over the news.“
Cap: „Yeah so anyway we‘re gonna raid their main base and we shall GET- HIM- BACK!“
Everybody cheers, sets off etc.
skip forward
You are now at Marineford.
You run over, you are the first doctor to be on the scene and you go: „Aight, let me look at the wound, we gonna get you patched u-“
A Chest.
And he says: „Hey what are you doing? YOU ARE A DOCTOR AREN‘T YOU?“;
And… you are a doctor… you are… but you can’t save him.
Only for the miracle worker themself, Emporio Ivankov, to say that… no miracle is coming… there is truly no hope for him left…
And now back to you not being the doctor anymore.
That dude deserves the forget forget fruit, cause that is the only way possible that that man can ever live a happy life again.
he doesn't even need to look for long to tell ace is done for.
he glances at the wound and, within a second, can tell ace's spine and heart have been _burned away._
there is no recovery, especially not with the technology available to them. the only things that could save him are a devil fruit or vegapunk.
and the only healer on the whitebeard side, marco, is currently powerless. too exhausted, too wounded, and too much seastone to regenerate a third of ace's torso.
see, back when marco got shot by kizaru, people were talking about how the cuffs were there to make taking marco down easier.
no.
they were there to prevent marco from healing ace.
I don't even think he's in the manga.
@@jollymanbigboy he is, i think. for one panel.
@@Yal_Rathol okay. He is in three panels. He didn't stand out there because Luffy didn't personally confront him or Ivan.

So glad nobody spoiled this for her. The internet tends to go out of its way to spoil this whenever someone starts watching this series.
Well she did kind of spoil herself when she watched the one piece intros. But thank God she's got a short memory and forgot half of it.
Well the title will spoil for someone else unfortunately.
She’s seen it before
I didn't watch it week to week, but I was reading it.
“Nobody major ever dies in OnePiece”
This is it lol the only major death
Ok, 2 deaths, and they were before the series reached it's half point
@@richardpires5063I feel like that's moving the goal post lol
@@dusky5535It is, but I feel like the general consensus around that statement is that “People don’t die when they should.”
But some people have exaggerated the statement so hard that it has looped back to be an unironic and literal statement instead of a joke about how Pell and Pound get to live through impossible circumstances.
Yeah that's why this is the best arc, it's the one fcking time it happens
Not many probably experienced this, but this scene was just a part of what we called " The Great Shounen Massacre". It wasn't just Ace, most of our beloved Shounen Jump characters were killed that whole freaking week, whether it was the manga or anime. It's as if all the authors and production company decided to do it for some reason.
yeah, I didn't know that, who else was killed off that week?
@@CRSB00 I just looked it up. During that week in Naruto, Bleach, Hunter X Hunter (alicia safe)...
Sasuke killed Danzo and it looked like he was going to kill Karin
Aizen tricked the soul reapers into killing Momo and then it appeared as if he killed most of them.
Meruem took Neteros leg. Not a death but notable.
Fun fact: The one piece anime was on episode 438 where Luffy and Bonclay show up in level 5.5
If theres more I'll update this as i find them out but the only source i saw was on aminoapps which was questionable in the first place. I didnt fact check so what i said might be wrong also.
@@CRSB00 It seems my comment with my research was deleted. I'm not sure why. The only deaths i could actually find are for naruto and bleach. spoilers below
Danzo and Momo Hinamori
I'm assuming it was deleted because i put a hunter x hunter fact in there but alicia has already seen Meruem vs Netero so..... idk
Edit: im gonna repost the hxh fact since it really shouldn't be a spoiler in my opinion.
This week was the week that Netero lost his leg. The next week ended on Netero telling Meruem his name.
Ace" and I can probably speak for everyone when I say no one was ever the same since
Sakazuki is just completely oblivious to the fact that his doom is lurking right behind him, being pinned by Sengoku. XD
bro would have had Garp and whitebeard playing ping-pong with his body.
@@j.c.cannon2112 A real shame. I would have loved to see it.
Nice not mark reference
Funny how I was just watching that video earlier in the morning.
TOTALLY NOT MARK MENTION!!!
I stayed up until 8 am to watch this live. There were so many of us watching, ready for this reaction!
Even after watching it so many times, I still cried. Luffy's VA did such an amazing job at the end it breaks my heart every time.
Alicia is such a real one. She was really heartbroken too. And even though she planned to keep on streaming, after this she had to stop and go process it all.
I really recommend her streams and supporting her if yall have the chance. Otherwise, of course being here is more than enough.
Thank for your work making so much content! It's been amazing to follow these series with you.
I didn’t watch it live but saw it on patreon I went to bed so I couldn’t watch it live 😂😭
This episode AND the hunter hunter episode BACK TO BACK?! Alicia’s therapist has some major work lol
132nd Consecutive day of One Piece. To a degree I think a specific degree of balls are needed on Odas side to pivot from a series with 0 deaths or chances of dying to One that dedicates 3 arcs to saving someone who ends up dying, because of the tone shift
that really was an ballsy move, even more for such an loved and liked character like Ace! even tho (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT)
I do personally prefer the revolucionary brother...
I already know someone in 5 years is going to be searching TH-cam, just got into One Piece and will be flashbanged by this title
There is others that do this. And it pisses me off.
I got spoiled in im reincarnated as a slime season 2 in one major event because the titles can be so spoilery.

"No one ever dies in one piece".
Famous last words everyone comes to regret.
We made a TH-camr react to this two episodes earlier in the morning and when that happened her whole day was ruined because we wanted to see her reaction
Well you definitely don’t need any enemies with them around.
@adventuroushermit2590 fake friends. Emotional moments like that need to hurt. It's why I got frustrated with Devilman Crybaby being over-trauma-hyped. It probably would have ruined me, if I hadn't been spoiled
Ace died with a smile on his face...just like his old man.
For 400 episodes we have a vague and distant hatred of Jinbei thinking "oh he's the guy who let Arlong loose in the world." Then we meet him and it instantly becomes "I LOVE THIS FKN DUDE"
garp threatening to kill sakazuki is no idle threat, sengoku really did need to stop garp there
And they almost got out… but Akainu had to go for the low blow that played on Ace’s biggest character flaw. With devastating results…
Hate him all you want, but man is bloody effective at his job. The MVP for Marines side this arc.
@@Nek-oski yep no lies
He probably knew about IT too.
@@Nek-oskiI won’t deny that.
you'd think he's jsut a brute but Akainu is surprisingly manipulative and perceptive
And so it happenes. This arc was showed us that the good guys don’t always win
Whats messed up is that Oda makes you feel safe before delivering the worst blow
With both Merry and Ace we thought that the worst is over, now everything will be alright and then everything falls apart right in front of you
It's one of the biggest spoilers that can be made in One Piece, but no one can spoil how it happened and what you felt when you saw it. Rest in peace, Ace. He died happy knowing that he was loved. 💔😭😭😭😭
you right, no amount of spoilers got me as mad as ace did when he got no diffed by a yo daddy joke 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I wouldn’t say the biggest they’re are many more spoilers just as bad
not sure if you know this but the vice admiral from robins flashback. the one who order the ship with civilians to get shot and sunk, that was akainu
Oda just making sure we have a face for our hatred of the marines
I saw the Shikanoko post and figured I'd do the ol' "Grave of the Fireflies + My Neighhbor Totoro double feature"
Thank you for this unintentional catharsis. Now onward to silly deer animu.
31:46 Oh no, Garp was going to kill him. Literally, there is a comic that shows what if the other admiral did it catch him in time and he sinks the whole island with one punch.
14:29 "if Jimbei is gone for the next 300 episodes" and I started crying.... me too Alicia ah, me too ;-;
When people joke to cope with THE trauma: "Welcome to my donut shop, the...Crispy Ace's..." 💀
The sad thing is that they had a DVD collection out and there is a picture of ace on the DVD, the hole in the DVD is in the same spot on his chest.
Nobody ever dies in One Piece except in backstories.
This is Luffy's backstory.
Nobody said they had to happen in the past.
Love this show
God i still cry like a bitch when i see this. Your feelings are natural and you are not alone, this is peak tragedy.
Piccolo offscreen: DOOOOOOOOOODGE!
also Piccolo: "DAMN IT, GOKU!"
23:12 and there it is, the moment that changed the entirity of one piece and anime as a whole forever, rest in peace Ace, your sacrafice will never be forgotten😢💔

I'm glad you've come to realize that Buggy is your spirit animal.
i remember when i saw this the first time... my emotions where complete chaos...but i cound not cry like when merry says good bye because there was one thing that burns bright and strong .... my burning wish to see akainu in a bodybag.
Reading an watching ace death still brings up alot of feels .
This is the one episode I've been waiting for since the reaction to the openings
i think the fact that death doesnt play a big part in One Piece really make this sense all the more painful to see it really tugs at all your emotions
Thank you Alicia. its rare that people bingeing one piece realize. Yall can get the next episode. We couldn't. We waited. We sat with it and stewed with it and dreamed about it. Think of how many episodes you get "I need the next one now." It's something I don't think enough new fans understand.
I was waiting so long for this episode.
Everyone watching these reactions had this episode flash through their mind every time Alicia mentioned nobody dying in One Piece. 😢
For us, there is an odd sadness felt here.
Not just that of losing a loved one, but watching someone you care about lose a loved one.
I cant put my finger on it. Its not simply empathy...
…dammit…when Your Brother OF ALL PEOPLE says run, YOU RUN DARN IT!!!
👿👿😰😭😭
I remember catching up to one piece on episode 482. I have never ever been so mad at a cliffhanger in my life
I miss Ace with all of my being!
This is a strong arc. I remember when Whitebeard was fighting Akainu, and Whitebeard was about to bring it down to Akainu (i dont remember if it was in my head or out loud) I was screaming "Kill Him!!!!"
I never had such a strong, outloud reaction to a fictional character.
We’ve made it. And worst thing is it’s about to get even worse before this arc ends. Let’s just hope Alicia can handle what come next
garp says "roger could never back down from a fight".
looks like his son got all his worst traits.
Ever since they arrived at the archipelago, it's just been loss after loss. This goes to show the scale of the major players in One Piece and just how unready for the new world the strawhats really are.
It happens all so fast it's difficult to process, it hit me the same time everyone else started to realize
This arc was ongoing when i started watching one piece and this episode was out by time i made it this far and it killed me inside i think i cried over it for the next week
I know everyone is focusing on Ace's death but the sounds Luffy made at 43:22 when it happened are haunting to me
I'm been there, Ace's death was the unimaginable moment that shook me to the core and its a tearful reminder for further arcs for those who knew Ace before meeting Luffy.
I was prepared for Alicia to cope with humor, but I wasn't prepared for that 33:05 🤣

And now we have reached the point where the "funny show about pirates and adventure" finally shows it's true colors 🥺
I was 8 yo when this episode aired. Ace was my favorite character in one piece.(im an only child and wanted to have a big brother just like him)I’m 22 now and still remember how sad and disappointed I was.

Alicia really is just like Luffy, going through the same stages of grief at the same time, having the same energy, it's crazy!
This might not be the best time to say this, but in a way, you're pretty lucky: most Reactors and manga reviewers get spoiled on Ace's death.

Welcome to: The Pinnacle of the Gauntlet of Pain. I'm so proud of you, you made it! The show won't hurt you this bad for a few arcs xD
Garp going for cold kill of Akainu never stops being awesome. Not only he wishes for that, without Sengoku he would actually managed to do that.
One piece really hits her in the face as she predicts everything
One thing I liked about this episode, as sad as it was, was that they start baiting you with thinking Whitebeard was gonna sacrifice himself and Ace would live to inherit his dream, and it ends being the other way around
When you go back and watch again, you realize that Ace's fate was sealed the moment Luffy and crew go to Skypeia. Blackbeard was going to bring in Luffy to exchange for his warlord seat, but Luffy managed to hit the updraft stream first. Blackbeard then went to find another suitable exchange, and it was Ace that he found.
Nice, that's a reaction right there... Now all i need to see his her reaction to the next episodes...

this point hits harder after one of the episodes that aired during the Wano Arc.
Oda said that he already plan to kill Ace since his first appearance in alabasta arc
The thing that hurts me is luffy's reaction, the constant flick between shock, anger and saddness or it all to boil over in his head to just unbeliviable despair as he just crys.... hurts
he's never suffered such a loss at this point, and with everythign else that went wrong, he just couldn't take it anymore and he broke....
The Second saddest death in OP thus far IMO. The Going Mary will always be my number one.
