Yes they used 'we are' 4 times. The first of course is the original opening to the anime, the second was a milestone and they used the voice actors of the cast to sing it. The third was another episode milestone, but they remixed it. The final one on the list with the updated graphics was for the 1000th episode. It only aired on that episode specifically.

The "wtf Nami has a gun" opening has been my favorite since forever. That shit so perfectly encapsulates both the happiness as well as the desperation that made early One Piece so incredibly special. You had your typical tropes, but all the characters had so much...well, character, that you couldn't help but enjoy watching them all interact.
Also something about the trumpets or whatever in the background gets me so pumped I always get goosebumps.
Ohmygosh same, I don’t see many people who share my favorite opening like that. I could make a case for ‘we fight together’ too, but Kokoro no Chizu just really showcases the specific characters and vibe of the story so well

@@jagamezdaily9863 same happend with other long running shows like doraemon, Naruto, sazae-san and Pokémon to name a few, bleach is the only one I could recall as I had just finished watching mangaka and animators talk about it being their inspiration for joining the anime/manga world as they watched it as a kid and now they create works that are directly inspired by bleach or reference bleach style and design.
@@hadron4834 and in those 10 years it didn't just vanish, fans like me found it and watched it, others got inspired by it, 20 years is a long time, and it did and still does Inspire people to join the industry, Gege Akutami is such an example, he even fanboyed over Tite Kubo during their shared interview and has told his fans to go and watch/read bleach.

"We are" is kinda like a hymn for One Piece at this point, so it's reprised a lot especially for notable moments like anniversaries, episode milestones, etc.
It's funny, When I first started watching One Piece, I didn't care for "We Are" for some reason (no clue why, just wasn't feeling it at the time)......that all changed when it played at the end of Alabasta, I'm a sucker for utilizing themes for climactic moments in the show.
Now "We Are" is one of my fav. themes in general.

I find it interesting how Luffys attacks work.
Pistol is a long distance punch with a little bit of extra momentum, meanwhile Bullet is a high power, point blank punch with a lot of reeling back and momentum.
Its fun how these things are different because of things like this.
"There was a cute little dear and a MOMMY" might be the most said line by One Piece fans.
I know a lot of people get scared of starting One Piece and I don't blame them since is really something you kinda have to commit if you want to catch up someday. All I can say is that is an incredible show that is very dear to me, I truly just hope you enjoy it since it really is an amazing story. All of my best luck with this long journey if you truly decide to watch the entire thing!
not reading/watching one piece is a great crime, the punishment for which is not knowing how good one piece is.
I mean, if you ask me the problem is the phasing of the anime and if you see one pace it never feels slow(to me), to a point that when I first saw the original only managed to get till' the ambulant restaurant but when I saw one pace I binged till' half Arabasta(and only dropped because I'm too lazy to grab the animé again for a few non-adapted episodes).

I mean, I drew that while thinking that it wouldn't really be that bad if nobody ever noticed, but in chapter 653 of volume 66, we have this scene. There's usually no reason to use a crunchy sound effect when characters are eating bento, but I felt that Sanji would surely put the razors and poison in Zoro's bento, so I decided to draw it in that way. The serious nature of their fight is what makes it interesting.

17:28 here we see the We Are for the Second time and it's a very special moment. The song was sung by the Voice actors of our Crew in dedication to Eiichiro Oda the author. At that if I'm not wrong he was hospitalized and so they dedicated this opening to him.
Eventually you will see they repeat it a lot because it's their go to opening for any special occassion too. 😁😁

As someone who was also very skeptical about starting One Piece just because of the amount of episodes/chapters was very daunting. I can honestly say that I didn't regret it, definitely deserves its reputation.

There are 4 versions of the first opening song. The first classic, the second sung by the VAs of the crew, and the third and fourth rock/pop version with updated crew visuals.
Yes, Usopp not only has a slingshot, but he can snipe people with it a mile away. He does get an upgrade, but it's a bigger slingshot that can hit a target a continent away, because he absolutely had to step up his game and now he's nicknamed God Usopp.
And he will sing his own damn theme song while doing it

14:00 To add to this point, it also shows growth as an author imo, proving you (as the writer) have enough confidence in your main character's characterization and truly believe you've laid out their unique quirks as clearly as possible that even if you get another character to cosplay as them with the clothes you still think people can tell them apart. I just love seeing authors gain confidence in their writing.

I haven't really seen much of the Big 3 outside of One Piece (I got to like, the Bount arc in Bleach or something, it was ok I think, Naruto I pretty much know the outline of the story from wiki and debates but have not actually watched an episode in full at all) but most of the time when it comes to outward character design (ie drip) it's usually Bleach that I hear takes the cake in terms of fashion and design. One Piece I usually hear get roasted for the goofy character proportions (I actually enjoy those but I'm weird and absolutely has terrible taste so my take is moot here) and stuff, this is the first time I'm hearing people actually think that as one of the bigger draws, or at least as one of the pros One Piece has.
@@NotSomeJustinWithoutAMoustache It probably doesn't get mentioned as much because it's incidental to the big draws of One Piece. For Bleach, the drip is a main draw, but for One Piece there are things that are going to get mentioned well before the drip because it shines in those categories. Usually you'll hear that the World Building and Characterisation and Foreshadowing and Plot are the best parts and in comparison to those things, who would mention something like drip instead? Hope that makes sense - but yeah, there's a lot of great drip in One Piece and the characters change their clothes a lot so you get at least a few great outfits for all the main crew.
Also it shows he isn't lazy. Characters get singular outfits only when author doesn't bother to change them like a normal human would or it just means that specific character is that stinky/has a lot of the same clothes (all of that applies to protagonist of Naruto).
@@mjm3091 To be fair to Naruto, he didn't exactly have a lot of funds to supply his closet. And he and Sasuke both were kids with no parents to go "how about we diversify your outfit a bit, hm?"
The rest of the cast, though. Would it have killed them to wear something different now and then? Or change up their outfits a bit as they settle more into being ninja? Like, having Sakura slowly change her main attire until it was more fit for ninja duty and then change again to more fit her style of battling as she figures out what works and what doesn't would have helped a lot in showing her character growth. I assume most genin don't just find that one magical clothes set on first try - as they gain abilities they realise shit like "Oh, my hair should be pinned down and I need to make this part of my clothing looser so I can move a bit better and tie this part down so it stops flapping about when I'm running around. Maybe add some more pockets and an extra pouch for my weapons and scrolls."
I love the reactions as always, the only thing I will say about watching One Piece and knowing how emotionally invested you get into your reactions, just keep a box of tissues always with One Piece.
Episode 33 is widely considered the point of no return in seeing just how amazing this whole story is despite the pacing issues in my opinion.
1015 is probably one of the greatest animated episodes ever put to screen, cant wait for the long journey to get there!

Take your time Oda packed this manga with a LOT of world building and detail
So a few things. Usopp is pronounced with an ooo sound. Its a portmanteau of Uso(Japanese word for Lie) and Aesopp( As in Aesopp's fables), And they basically consider WE Are to be the main theme of one Piece. The second time they had it in here is actually a version where all the main characters sing it.
Also I'm gonna warn you. The childhoods of pretty much every character is depressing and babies will be shown gettin hurt. I still cry when I watch at least 3 characters backstories.
I love how even with close to 0 context or knowledge the openings get the characters and vibes so well across to her

Nico Robin's origin arc is my absolute favorite, it's the first arc where the show really moved me to tears.

The first opening re-playing later on is due to some milestones like hitting 10 years or 1000 episodes of One Piece, so it has some twists like upgraded animation, changed upgraded drip or like the Opening 7 - The Main Crew's Voice Actors singing.
Long time one piece fan here. Found your channel in my recommended and seeing that your willing to go this journey I immediately subbed. I'm positive you're gonna enjoy it a lot, because Oda knows how to write an interesting story.

The first time they re-used We Are was for a short bit of filler, and was sung by the VAs of the Straw Hat crew. The second time was a remixed version for the tenth OP of the series, and the third one at the end was for episode 1000.

I can’t wait to see your one piece journey! I’m currently on Wano and my favorite openings are a three way tie between Kokoro no Chizuru, We Go!, and Over the top. 825 is my personal favorite episode, and if you know, you know. I hope you enjoy One Piece as much as the rest of us do!
OMG This is going to be an emotional series. We'll be with you along this amazing journey. My favorite opening is "We Fight Together", it is very emotional and when you get the context of the visuals when your reach that point in the anime, oh man! it will hit you like truck-kun. My second favorite is "Paint", though it is a bit on the mellow side, it gives me the feeling that we are nearing the climax of the arc and a new hope is just in the horizon.

Opening 13 especially 14 still makes me emotional God i really want to scream i love one piece this is why i love this anime it makes me cry hard when im always hearing opening 14 i always remember luffy, ace, and sabo childhood T^T there was a scene where dadan go to their tree house that luffy was okay it made me cry how the tree house age now without ace
To say you have a long journey ahead of you is an understatement, you have THE journey of a lifetime and a half to look forward to. Tbh I hadn't really watched more than 30 eps since it seemed so daunting a task to continue, but i reckon you'll love this series, not just the story but the characters themselves are beyond endearing and the vibes you get from early episodes is just the definition of cozy.
Also get some napkins cause the tears will absolutely flow with this one, though not all will be sad, (you'll see what i mean when you meet "chopper")
I got so excited when I saw this in my recommended! I loved your Oshi no ko reactions and found you through them and you're such a fun and emotional personality to watch. One piece is my favorite anime of all time, it delves into politics, social issues, trauma and has amazing character growth, story telling and worldbuilding! I know I’m finding this a bit late and you’re already many episodes into one piece but these reactions to just stuff in the opening have been great and hilarious. Like immediately falling for robin and wondering what is with chopper’s forms, or even saying Ace looks like a douchebag from first impression. It cracked me up so much. Enjoy the one piece journey!
