    I have the poorboy knee pads. We have been practicing lots of falls (ok.. and I've been falling alot on my own. lol I just joined roller derby a month ago.) I really like these knee pads. I've fallen at all sorts of angles on my knees and it's been like falling on pillows.

    Can you do a review on standard knee pads as well or did you already?

    The 187s I have are GREAT on impact/slams. For kneeslides, I don't trust they will stay put as mine have slipped more than once. I even bought two different sizes. They will stay put if wearing gaskets, but that requires taking off my shoes and the added expense to yield a pad system that I have confidence in. Your mileage may vary

    Hmm it's a though choice, i was thinking about the 187's the exact ones
    he have here in this video with same color scheme, but with another diff color on the plastic,
    you know.. to custom them up a little for my liking,
    but how ever, when i saw the Poorboys flexibility, i was damn okay,
    that's really awesome, they also got the same design as the 187's and yet,
    they are not as bulky as the 187's but... no custom :(
    (what i know of), please correct me if I'm wrong with the Poorboy's..
    but with the knowledge i have gather so far, i think I'll might go with the 187's
    even if they are a bit bulkier, it's better to, so that they cover up and protect more,
    i think that is a good reasonable decision, and the 187's are custom as well :P

    Replaced my Rector Fat Boys with the Smith Scabs. Good pads! Highly recommended.

    Picked up a Uno Bolt type riding wheel (fed up after waiting for Ryno Wheel to get to retail). I wanted it mostly for getting around at the Veterans Hospital. I'm 65 and that place seems to get bigger each year. I promised my wife I'd wear protective gear while learning how to wear it. Oh well. Biking gear seems to be a bit over the top for the short duration learning curve. Any thoughts?

    Hmm, are these pro pads durable? My $29 pro-tec street pads started to tear after 2 months. I'm looking for quality pads.

    The smith scabs elite knee pads have the hard plastic cap basically sowed on the pad, i tried pulling and it came off but theres no way to put another cap on the pad. How would i recap it?

    I wish pads would go back to the Rector "sock" pull over style. Butterfly straps are horrible and constantly slip.

      @greg6162 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I don’t know if this is the case as I just got back into rollerblading… but maybe a hybrid design where they can wear like a pullover sleeve then with straps to tighten them down. Should keep them from shifting. I just got a cheap set of JBM pads with the helmet because I’m learning to skate again. Definitely not like riding a bike… use it or loose it

      I've been wondering the same thing. Not sure why they don't seem to be carried in skate shops anymore. Also, I wish Smith still created the the fingerless gloves with the wrist strap. I used to love those things. I also found that Hammer shin guards are no longer available.

    • @bronx15_82
      @bronx15_82 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gabisteinle the elites have recaps that go over the cap it’s self. They come with double sided sticky tap already on the recap it self so you can just stick it on and use those before using the cap that is already on the pad.

    • @handywithshovels
      @handywithshovels 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      gabisteinle there are aftermarket recaps available for the Elite Scabs like he shows in this video. I put a set on mine last year.
