I hope you are ok am a nurse in the uk and it is very hard not to feel emotional, upset and angry about this situation that we are all in again am not on the front line but I also feel for my colleagues who are and winter pressures have not yet kicked in yet in the NHS.

My mum has just been in hospital - aged 82 and urine infection. When I spoke to the Nurse I asked what her Vitamin D level was and she said , oh it's fine. The way she said it made me feel they hadn't checked but I explained I had been watching you and that I would be keen for them to check. Lo and behold when Mum came home a week later the discharge sheet said low vitamin D. We are in Scotland - not much sun! They sent her home with Colecalciferol 25,ooo units , 2 to be taken once a week for 3 weeks before putting her on one a day from next week. Thank you John, I am absolutely sure me mentioning it meant they thought about it and did something about it. Email sent to my MP as you mention at the end of the video

Love your proactive action. The medical people have so much to remember it isn't surprising they forget things here and there. Sometimes, however, the things they forget are very important to get right. It is important for all of us to become proactive in our own and others care and bring their attention to things. If they aren't important then we can calm down. I just wish those in the medical field would stop being so thin-skinned when a question is asked. No-one is perfect. But in spite of the fact they may resent the questions...they shouldn't and we should always opt for knowing whether a thing is important or not as in your Mom's case by asking anyway.

I advise everyone to be your OWN advocate! Treatment now will be at its worst for many reasons....even the good docs wont have much time to be... a good doc. Even in good times western medicine is a crap shoot. dont know her history but i would say dont make your mum suffer... give her cranberry pills with plenty of water for that infection...works every time for me. Docs will needlessly torture her with caveman treatments for fun & profit. super plant Moringa has many vits including Vit D, however im sure there isnt enough for covid era but i would at least add it to the crappy synthetic store bought vits

Doctors are wrong a lot, they are trained in the treatment paradigm not cures or mechanics. If something is working for you or you have a gut feeling go with it. You have time to come to a reasonable conclusion a doctor has a few minutes. Well done on questioning them

I've been thinking the same, as have other viewers. No doubt Dr. Campbell has saved many, many lives worldwide.
I've been watching since early on in this pandemic, before it was even a pandemic... I think I discovered him around early or mid January!
Dr. Campbell is a wonderful teacher. I don't always agree 100% with a few opinions, yet his videos are top notch and he's an excellent teacher! His info, to present the essence of studies, is no doubt life saving and certainly has the conversation going so ideas at different levels of education can be shared, argued (& I mean this in the best of & most constructive ways), researched & ideas can be shared far and wide, along with potentially & very likely lifesaving information.
If you find out what needs to be done to get him knighted, or Man of the Year or whatever, please post & Let's get it going! I'm in the US, so don't know if my input counts, but if it does, I'd like to support honors for him. He's been on nearly every day since January! Always has interesting & helpful information to present. Please DM me @SoCalBohoGal on Twitter if I can help! Let's get this going!

I tell you if ANYTHING even remotely good could come out of COVID, it is that this pandemic has finally spurred me to fix my possible co-morbidities, at least those I can fix which for me means losing weight, as I was severely obese. In the last 2 months I have lost nearly 40 lbs, reducing my BMI to 32 and still dropping, and I have been focusing on increasing my Vitamin D levels as quickly as I can, though I'm not 100% clear on how much vD I can take a day safely, so been sticking to 1k IU for now. I might increase that based on this video. I have to travel (fly) in 2 weeks so I've been doing EVERYTHING I can to reduce my risk profile before that.

Social distance; no don't. Congregate, no don't. If he is taking vitamin D and C it's because the Trump team doctors have suggested that they work. And the reason he isn't much attached to the Trump team any more is because he has shown himself over time to be a complete weather-vane being blown every which way by the smallest breeze as far as his "opinions" go. He has been shown- by his own statements out of his own mouth- to be a worthless judge of this pandemic and someone whos advice you take at your own risk. Not for me.

If that were true, there'd be no aspirin, paracetamol or Imodium either though, and governments wouldn't be trying to get people to lose weight or stop smoking.
If vitamin D really is as good as some of its promoters claim, then why hasn't a single country anywhere in the world started promoting vitamin D supplements and been able to increase productivity and close half its ICUs?

    • @afrog2666

@@ML-vl7gt Making people stop smoking and getting fat means a healthier workforce, whiich means MONEY, and paracetamol and aspirin also keeps people going with few side effecs and at a low price so anyone with a headache can KEEP WORKING..
Trust me, EVERYTHING is about money..
Btw, in Norway where I live, vitamins are advised and advertised all the time, especially during fall/winter.
The thing is, health professionals for the most part, have our best interest in mind, but companies and governments have a budget, and you and me are part of that budget, including how much to pay in treatments, depending on our age and history.
Also, I highly doubt ANY ICU`s wold close because people got enough vitamin D, they will still have enough to do, it would cause a lot of unemployement as well. (depending on the specific nations/locations of course)
      MONEY.. Balance that budget!

@Phil Hardy: You're not the only one thinking that. 1. There's countless billions in taxpayer's money from every government in the world waiting to drop on the first pharmaceutical company that comes up with a vaccine or any mitigating drugs. 2. Vitamin D is out of patent (as is Hydroxychloroquine) -both cheap as chips. Compare the new (patented) much trumpeted by the pharma companies but minimally effective Remdesivir: $1000 a dose. Vitamin D: less than 50c.

I live in Sydney Australia and am a 66 year old male. About 10 years ago I received a doctor (who also practiced natural health approaches) gave me a cocktail of intravenous vitamins to assist my general health at that time. Additionally he gave me a Vitamin D in the buttocks. This was done at the beginning of our Autumn (March). After that I sailed through the winter season with no colds or infections whatsoever. I was truly amazed. The doctor commented that he found it more effective than flu vaccine. Every year since at the beginning of Autumn I take 10,000 i.u. daily for one month and then 5,000 i.u daily for the following seven months. I decided to take a four month break for four months (commencing November) as I would be naturally producing sufficient Vitamin D from sun exposure. This annual cycle I follow has kept me infection free. In the past few years I have made a modification to this protocol in that I take all the daily tablets once per week i.e. 35,000 i.u. every weekend as this is sufficient to to keep my levels topped up and is more convenient. With the present pandemic I will continue to supplement 5,000 i.u. daily (once per week) until the worldwide threat diminishes and then revert to the above protocol. Interestingly my dosage aligns closely with that of Doctor Fauci who I understand takes 6,000 i.u. per day.
On a separate note, in 2016 my doctor prescribed a bone density scan and my results were 'óff the scale'. Better than a 18 year olds. There may be other factors but I attribute the results to my taking of the Vitamin D as well as magnesium supplementation which I have discovered is very important for bone health.
Readers may also be interested in the following article which appeared today in the Australian Medical Association journal web site regarding Vitamin D injections. ama.com.au/media/vitamin-d-deficiency-fixed-shot
Based on my experience I would recommend that anyone in pandemic hot zones and are not taking Vitamin D immediately consider getting an injection after consulting their doctor. The evidence is just too strong and the cost negligible.

@@jenniferbate9682 Hi Jennifer. I agree. As I mentioned I was also supplementing magnesium which is also very important for bone health and I attribute the bone density results to both Vitamin D and magnesium supplementation. Calcium is frequently prescribed for people with bone problems but all to often the problem is a lack of magnesium which goes unrecognised as it is counter intuitive. Because magnesium plays a critical role in the operation of the heart the body keeps the blood levels in a very tight range. People may be magnesium deficient but this does not show up in blood tests.

Yes, thank you. However, getting a blood test during the Covid epidemic at a surgery is almost impossible and if it were, the risks of going to a doctor's surgery and catching the virus must be weighed against the risk of vit D overdose. If you look at the death rates on the African continent they are much lower than in western countries...in fact, in some Caribbean countries like St Lucia there has not been a single death from COVID-19.

Thank you for your effort to keep us updated. I just want to make a comment on the reference vitamin D values that are used in most articles, such as in "VITAMIN D STATUS IN HOSPITALIZED PATIENTS WITH SARS-CoV-2 INFECTION" . I was in charge of the RIA lab in Middelheim Hospital in Antwerp from 1973 till 1991 and in the '80s we also performed vitamin D analysis. In those days it was assumed that the sole role of vitamin D lay in calcium metabolism and therefore the cut-off value was 20 ng/ml. Less than 20 ng/ml being deficient. In those days we regularly received samples from care homes for the elderly and at least 2/3 of those samples were deficient. Since the turn of the century it became clear that almost all human cells express vitamin D receptors and hence are vitamin D dependant. This finding also implied that reference values should be adapted: cut-off should at least be 30 ng/ml and preferentially 45 ng/ml or more. This means that articles that only distinguish between less and more than 20 ng/ml will never be able to show the real benefit of sufficient vitamine D because a large part of what they call the normal (sufficient) population is in fact deficient. Due to the long period that the cut-off value of 20 ng/ml was used this will continue to be used, although I think such an error should not pass peer review.

🇨🇦I think we need to look at Vitamin D deficiency as more of a public health issue than a “potential cure for Covid-19.” John is not doing this and I doubt his viewers are as they are very well educated! I think that maybe some Dr’s and specialists aren’t keen to recommend right now during the pandemic until they have a solid RCT and they may also be more concerned that those who take Vitamin D may assume they are “immune” and not follow public health guidelines like social distancing, mask wearing etc. Just a thought.
Vitamin D deficiency is a global public health issue and we are just beginning to learn about the role of Vitamin D in many aspects of immune health. Many areas do not test regularly for vitamin D levels so knowledge of deficiency is not accessible. Even in Brazil, a country that generally receives a massive amount of sunlight hours/year has moderate rates of deficiency. This is something to continue to take seriously. Remembering though that Vitamin D is a Fat soluble vitamin. Overdose is possible. Do not take without consulting with your local pharmacist or physician to get an adequate dose for you.
But DO stay informed, and Dr. Campbell is doing a great job of keeping everyone informed. I plan to do a video on Vit.D soon as well.

Very true. That's my biggest pet peeve with those studies. They don't use the right levels and a sufficient dosage for the patients. The 800 IU recommendation is based on a statistical error. It's also known that the average body needs between 7.000 and 8.000 IU daily to function properly. Yet they're only giving out baby doses. Just imagine what amazing results could be achieved if they actually gave people the right dosage. At least Dr. Coimbra is using enough vit d to treat his MS patients with amazing results.

Writing from British Columbia, Canada: Thanks for continuing to post this valuable life-saving information on your site. I find it interesting that in the US, one can buy single Vitamin D capsules in 2,000 IUs, 5,000 IUs and even 7,000 IUs. However, here in Canada, Health Canada not only forbids the sale of any capsules above 1,000 IUs, but even forbids the importation of Vitamin D in the higher dose levels from the U.S., despite the fact that we are a more northerly country than the lower 48 states. Compounding the problem, I have not yet seen or heard a single local, provincial or federal public health officer make any reference to insufficient Vitamin D levels being a possible co-factor in the propagation of Covid-19, let alone call for more research on the topic. To make matters worse, only a few weeks ago, a CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) radio news program called "The World At Six" did a story on Vitamin D in relation to Covid-19. While I was initially prepared to applaud the network for finally addressing the matter, I was greatly disappointed when they only chose to interview a single "expert" on the topic, who took a decidedly sceptical view of Vitamin D's potential benefits, citing insufficient sample sizes in the scientific literature to warrant any new supplementation recommendations to people. More than that, he went on to say that high Vitamin D levels can increase the likelihood of a person developing kidney stones. What he failed to mention is that kidney stones are associated with high calcium to magnesium ratios in the diet. From reading the late Mildred Seelig, MD's book entitled the "Magnesium Factor" nearly 20 years ago, she stated that the average American is 40% deficient in Magnesium. Magnesium is also responsible for more than 300 enzymatic functions and among other things, it is a natural calcium channel blocker in cells.
On a related note, in the early days of the Covid-19 crisis, I wrote to BC and Canada's Chief Public Health officers and suggested they consider six studies that I passed along each suggesting that proximate long-term exposures to RF EMFs from wireless devices like WiFi, cell phones, laptop computers and the like were shown to diminish immune function, disrupt sleep and increase calcium inside cells (which can increase risks for heart arrhythmias), among other effects. The evidence implied that all such wireless devices should be turned off in seniors care facilities where deaths were taking place, and well as in hospital wards where Covid-19 patients were being treated. This information wasn't well received by BC's Public Health Officer, when a reporter asked her about it during a live news conference. As with Vitamin D, I continue to find the blind spot by "senior" officials and the news media more generally, to reasonable scientific evidence mystifying.

But when I got sick, it was scary not being able to get my breath and having a lot of lung mucus like a bad bronchitis. I was putting off going to the hospital because I didn't want some Nurse Ratchet forcing a test probe up my nose into my brain. So being 69 I really upped my game cause I didn't want to suffocate in my sleep and I didn't know if I had pneumonia or COVID or what.
      Here are the amounts:
      Liposomal Vitamin C 1600 mg, 4 times a day
NAC 600 mg, four times a day
      Tumeric & Ginger 1950 mg, 4 times a day

      Bromelain, 2400 GDU/g - 500 mg, 4 times a day
Cayenne (Swanson Super Cayenne), 4 times a day
      Vitamin D, 10 to 15 thousand IU, 4 times a day
      walking and some serious praying
sounds like a lot supplements above, but super trouble breathing was very very scary business especially waking up several times during the night totally out of breath and gasping. I'm not sure out of all that supplementation which of them was doing the most magic on me, but it certainly and absolutely worked whatever it was! And I have not had any respiratory problem since.

The critical takeaway from the data presented is that proper vitamin D levels will aid in the modulation of the immune system. Since most covid-19 deaths occur because of an out of control immune response, an immune response that doesn't elicit a cytokine storm is beneficial. None of this suggests that proper vitamin D levels will magically improve one's health. But, it does suggest that immune function will improve.
