Wow … his demeanor then and now is astonishing. If a highly educated man such as himself was hood winked, how were the rest of us to know we were doomed with the “cure.” The medical community will never recover (confidence/trust) from the true lack of knowledge - and ability to be steered in their advice to us - exhibited during the pandemic and continuing. Dr. John must be sick at heart (could not be overstated) as he relives these videos. Just sad.

Nobody said any medical treatment is risk free, but billions of lives have been saved by vaccines. Thoughout history, each time a new one has come onboard there's been scaremongering which has then gone nowhere as the benefits kick in and it'll be no different with coronavirus immunization. Indeed, no doubt you yourselves were vaccinated as children and otherwise risked falling victim to some deadly disease.
Before a vaccine was developed,, I remember children at my school who were permanently deaf from having contracted measles and they were the ones who hadn't died from it. Herd immunity is a falacy. If it develops at all, it can take forever meantime leaving human and economic devastation in its wake.
Many potentially fatal diseases were around for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Smallpox and measles being only two examples of many where despite existing for centuries, herd immunity never developed, and they caused untold millions of deaths. They were only finally eradicated (smallpox) and controlled (measles) by effective immunization. Outbreaks of measles still occur resulting in infant fatalties, when anti-vaxers start banging their drum. Perhaps they'd change the tune if it were their child in the morgue. Irony is, while their child was dying they'd have been safe from catching it themselves because of likely having been vaccinated in their own childhood.
So fortunately you're probably already protected from many deadly diseases because it wasn't you making the decsion to vaccinate in the first place. Let's hope you stay as lucky this time around and live to a ripe old age. The rest of us will go ahead and when the immunization numbers reach a sufficient level, it will lower your risk too. You won't be protected if there's an outbreak though, but you can always work on herd immunity by catching the virus, then perhaps surviving.
Although you might like to bear in mind, some airlines and countries are already stating they will require C-19 vaccination certification or no-can-do and word is this policy is going to snowball into other public arenas. I could be wrong, but so far doesn't seem anyone choosing to take their chances on herd immunity, is exempt.

I'm a secondary teacher OUT THERE to inform you that what you deem a presentation, is actually termed "delivery". I became fascinated with math when I reached Trigonometry, Chemistry then Physics /Physics lab as an undergrad, an apperception occurred.
I'm familiar with the scientific method, models, clinical trial protocols, RNA, spike proteins and the placebo effect. He delivers like a teacher, with an advising tone of a physician, his scientific jargon is hard to overcome(believe me I know) when you get on a roll explaining a coherence between patient, "guinea" pig, disparate terminology, and then you reach the climax on the revolutionary approach of mRNA your eyes light up! He is aware of his audience, so his expressions and comments will definitely differ when meeting with his colleagues. It's difficult for me to say "test" now because my mouth glides, "assessment".
I'm aware at times to define the jargon after saying it, but most of the time, no. Jargon to my students have to be introduced initially with realia then applied and spoken in context, encourage apperception by asking, "What else?" "Did you see this word before?" "Does it remind you of something?" Is there anything of this NEW to you?

(high case count, low casualty numbers) Viral stasis, caused by two fundamental factors. 1) Virulence dilution and weakening through massive population infection spread and ( 2) through genetic drift (protein spike mutation). Any vaccine at this stage is already dated and ineffective. Protect the vulnerable while Naturally acquired herd immunity overwhelms and snuffs the virus end phase. Everyone must Listen carefully to this Podcast interview with Former leading scientist for Pfizer. It's arguable that had an effective vaccine not become available before Sweden achieved herd immunity through infection then it MIGHT have been the right approach, but herd immunity is still a long way off in Sweden and safe and effective vaccines are available now. To prove this you only have to look at the deaths per capita of comparable countries (Finland, Norway and Denmark). Finland and Norway have deaths per capita that are one tenth of Sweden's.

There are commercial animal vaccines that need to be stored in liquid nitrogen, eg some Marek's virus vaccines (for chickens) stored below -196°C. Storage in liquid nitrogen is undertaken at livestock produce stores, veterinary product retailers, vet clinics (who also store animal semen straws etc for AI purposes), and large scale commercial animal producer facilities, etc. Depending on the vaccine, and for small scale animal producers, sometimes vaccines are ok to transport a couple of days in dry ice sealed insulated containers. Some of these vaccines are ok to store in a normal freezer for few weeks before use (but need to disposed of if not used within expiry timeline).
Although the main difference with these animal vaccines is that they are marketed in 1000, 10,000 dose etc ampoules, whereas human vaccines are probably in single use ampoules, therefore taking up more volume in liquid nitrogen storage.

@@snowbird6855 I am sorry to hear of your losses.
You do not say what the vaccine was for or how you researched it. Was this in recognised and respected publications?
I ask because it is important that such evidence is peer reviewed by those qualified to do so. As one of my lecturers used to say "if you cite Noddy Goes to Biology Lessons as your source I am not going to be impressed".
On this point, as John has noted, the announcement by Pfizer has not yet been peer reviewed (they are required to report because of stockmarket regulations, I believe). I look forward to learning that it has been.
I am afraid all vaccines - and all medicines - carry a risk. My mother did not suffer severe morning sickess and so, fortunately for me, she did not take Thalidamide.
The results to date also suggest that the risk of getting symptomative Covid are not eliminated but reduced by over 90% - and we do not know whether they are simply asymptomatic or if the other 10% have less severe symptoms.
On the other hand, we do know that Covid can kill. I know that from first hand experience as well as the daily statistics.
So if a vaccine is offereds and you exercise your right not to take it, that is not a right to avoid a risk. Rather, it is a right to choose which risk you prefer to take - and the default is the increased risk of getting the disease.

Nice achievement. BioNTech (based in Mainz, Germany) developed this (and a few other) vaccination at the beginning of 2020 (germany had the full gene sequence in december and the first full PCR test in january) and then partnered up with Pfizer to develop it further after successful phase 1 and 2 studies. The vaccine is already in production in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA and Puurs, Belgium.
The US has ordered 100 million doses of that vaccine, the EU is just about closing a contract over 300 million doses of this vaccine (it already had ordered 200 of it and is topping it up by another 100 million doses). Currently Pfizer/BioNTech plan to deliver 50 million doses this year and around 1,3 billion in 2021. The EU is already, for quite some time, using a rolling approval process for this (and other vaccines), of course done by EMA, same as the AstraZeneca vaccine by the way.
Of course, the European Medicines Agency used to be based in London, and is now based in Amsterdam due to Brexit.
All in all, the EU has ordered over a billion doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca (300 million doses with an option on another 100 million), Sanofi (300 million doses), Johnson & Johnson (200 million doses with an option to double that), Moderna (80 million doses plus an option to double that), CureVac (405 million doses). Those will be made available to all EU member states and poor countries unable to secure their own deals.

I'm a bit confused - I know why the current US president would like for it to be US funded, but if it isn't - why are people like Fauci and Campbell talking about it like it was? Does Bloomberg have it wrong, or are there so many vaccine projects now that nobody's really able to keep track of which ones are funded from where? Tbh, it's not a big deal in any case - it will benefit us all on this blue marble - but it does seem like many people want to take some measure of credit for this win. Everybody has skin in the game, but the German bet on a Turkish couple paid off the fastest. Hats off to Merkel and Germany. And hopefully many more hat tips to come, including to the Warp Speed-vaccines.

@@fjarle Indeed, every successful project helps, and yes, of course everybody wants to take credit as well. It looks like we will have several different vaccines in a few months.

Vaccines take years not weeks to test properly for safety and effectiveness.
We don't need a vaccine we have hydroxychloroquine, Vitamin D, Zinc, safe, low cost effective treatment

Dear Dr Campbell, Thank you for the update on vaccines. Can you tell us what possible side-effects these vaccines may be supplying in addition to combatting the Covid-19 virus? What about the Denmark mink-tainted virus? Will the vaccines be able to handle controlling new strains of the Coronavirus pandemic?

South African strain is the one thats escaping immune response. 57% and another vaccine had it at 60%, significantly down from 95.6% on the original strain.

Pfizer took no US government money to develop their vaccine. The US government and Pfizer did agree on a price for the US to purchase 100 millions doses of their vaccine, if it was effective.

July 22: HHS announced up to $1.95 billion in funds to Pfizer for the large-scale manufacturing and nationwide distribution of 100 million doses of their vaccine candidate. The federal government will own the 100 million doses of vaccine initially produced as a result of this agreement, and Pfizer will deliver the doses in the United States if the product successfully receives FDA EUA or licensure, as outlined in FDA guidance, after completing demonstration of safety and efficacy in a large Phase 3 clinical trial, which began July 27th.
