I work within the perspectives of the elements expressed through Ayurveda and the trinity of tridosha. There is Kapha (water, earth) Pitta(fire) and Vata(air,space) as you understand your elemental makeup there are no addiction. You learn how to balance mental, emotional and the physical bodies. Often a craving for chocolate is about iron the body craves things it needs but of course there are other options to get iron better suited to one's own makeup. Usually drug addiction is about how to get Vata elements to escape Kapha or heavy energy just as a angry liver craves alcohol to release or purge it but there are much healthier ways to do but within Ayurveda there is no wrong elements just misuse or incorrect elements leads to Tamas (negative outcomes) Rajas(action) or Sattva(balance).
