      @@cathalfolan8441 I guess you must not be much of a car guy if you think no older cars are worth talking about. This car is one of many from any manufacture that hit something special that people enjoy experiencing. There is Porsche, Ferarri, American cars, virtually every manufacture. So I guess by that logic all modern cars are trash.

    Definitely the best new BMW especially with a manual. As a 8 time BMW M owner including a 2016 M2 and a 2011 1 Series M, I agree this is the best M2 but still not as good a the 1M. The biggest difference is hydraulic steering vs electric. Drive them back to back and its a noticeable difference. Plus the 1M appreciates every year. I agree with your 1M example, my 1M has 19k miles on it and is worth $15k more than I paid for it, so I drive it for free and then some. The M2 CS will probably have zero depreciation for the first year or two like my 2016 M2 did, but then it will depreciate with the new 2 Series on the horizon and then another M2, M2 Comp, and a new M2 CS about 5 years from now. 4 years from now would be the time to buy a slightly used M2 CS. I would expect manuals to sell for about $60k-70k and DCT to fetch about $50-60k on the used market in 4 years. Look at the huge depreciation on the M3 & M4 CS. If I was buying now, for $85k I would take a 2016 Cayman GT4, Evora 400, or Porsche 997 Turbo, or for one car that does everything at this price point a used Porsche 991.2 manual (which I purchased) or AMG GTS. Still good to see BMW making a drivers car and offering a manual trans, just not worth $85k with so many other great choices out there and I am Mr. BMW

    Adaptive dampers have been available for almost all 2 series models except for 218i, 220i, M2 and M2C. Heck, my 5 year old 228i has that option. - This is the first modern M that I’ve been excited about and would consider owning after a spec’d out entry level 2 series. Have fun driving that thing for the week!

    You took issue with aspects of the M2 Comp when you drove on track, but I didn't hear the same "frustrations" in this review of the CS on the road. I have seen other reviews that loved the M2 Comp on the street but thought it was not ideally suited to track use. How much of the difference in your conclusions, about these two cars, if any, is attributable to street v. track performance?

    Mine is on the boat headed to the states now. I own a M235i. I love how it drives. So I wanted the best variant of the 2 series. Is it worth the 23 over the Comp that is a hard sale. But this was an emotional purchase for me. I plan on keeping the car forever. So it is not a car that I am looking to get out of in a few years. I will baby it by keeping it in storage in the winter, because of the limit run for it. I do plan on getting a GT4 once it is paid for. I want to own the best of the entry level cars that the Germans make.

    The M4GTS was way before it’s time and with how much hate it got, I don’t understand how the CS variants are doing so well with double the production numbers. Yes the GTS was 132k but when you compare it to a fully specd m2cs at 110k for carbon parts that come standard if not an option on standard M models, or a m4cs for 117k with triple the production numbers. Glad I picked up my M4GTS at 74k w 3k miles 15 months ago, only 2 left for sale nation wide under 100k

    Here in Europa this car is being produced as long as there is demand and it's not limited in numbers or time (currently it isn't the most successful BMW model in the world). You can find lots of 0-miles, cheap CSs as people mainly go for the Comp, which is more or less the same car, but much cheaper. For instance, I had a 2016 M2 (I was one of the very first owners here Switzerland) and I was considering to replace it with a CS... but in the end I went for a 2012 1M Coupe with just 3000 miles, and believe me, this wasn't the cheapest option.

    • @freedbeefpontoons
      @freedbeefpontoons 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the comfort access thing is weird. I have a comp (also 6-speed) and there was no option to have or not have it, just came standard. Maybe they save a tiny bit of weight on the hardware by not including it with the CS?

    I have a M2C (flashed with m4 GTS software) and I'm just not in love with it. My problem with the M2 in general is they make decent daily drivers but they're not exciting enough for a "fun car", this thing being almost the same I just don't see it being worth anywhere what they're asking for it. I also have a GT350R and holy shit that car is so much better, I imagine a standard GT350 would make a great compromise.

    Question for you Matt (Probably already been asked in amongst 700+ comments).......M2CS or M2C with manual transmission, Ohlins suspension (can be dialled to give more compliant ride than stock), chassis setup to give more steering feel and front end grip and 500bhp tune? The M2C becomes a LOT of car for the money.

    Loved my OG M2 with the m performance exhaust on it. Wish I could have kept it for the daily. Probably would have ended up with one of these if the dealer had bothered their ass to stay in touch after me having two cars off them. Still feel like if they’re getting rid of the armrest then the overall weight loss needs to be more dramatic. The DCT box is great and the kick in sport plus was always exciting 🤣
