- How to calculate UTM Zone from latitude longitude
In this tutorial I have shown how to calculate UTM Zone easily by applying UTM Zone formula
UTM Zone formula is = 31 + Longitude/6
Take the integer before decimal point.
the integer is the UTM Zone
There are total 60 Zone worldwide.
and they are numbered as 1 to 60 west to east at a 6 degree wide in longitude.

What will be the UTM Zone of these two places
Place C (Lat = 16.143216 S, Long = 14.421642 W) and
Place D (Lat = 34.281462 N, Long = 147.321462 E)
Answer it! :)
Place C (Lat = 16.143216 S, Long = 14.421642 W
31+ Long/6 = 31 + (-14/6) =33.33 Zone 33S
Place D (Lat = 34.281462 N, Long = 147.321462 E)
31+ Long/6 = 31 + (147/6)= 55N zone
C-29N D-55N
C-33S
Place C = 33 S
Place D = 55N
Sir can you check this...is this true or not
Place C will be 28S
Because u hav to take negative value for longitude of C as it is in West

zone 46 and 11 are ok, but final UTM zone may be 46R & 11Q respectively as 26 degree fall in lattitude R zone (between 24-32 degree)

In a couple of books and links I read that the UTM zones in latitude are lettered from A to X, excluding the I and O. In your examples you assumed that the zones are North or South of the Equator, I would appreciate if you could you explained the difference. Thanks.
Normally the zone respect to latitude is not necessary to provide in any software. Only N or S is required.
Learn & Explore well, the softwares must to be change because the S band is located in the Northern Hemisphere, that could couse confusion. If we agreed to divide the world in UTM zones with letters and numbers lets follow the rules... is like Kg which is a unit of mass but some people use it as force instead of Newtons.

why take east as +ve and north has -ve

This is so wrong. I don't know what you're trying to do but pretty sure UTM N32 to WSG84 convertion doesn't work like that.
It is for wgs84 to utm cal

Hi. I use 3 degree Transversal Mercator Zones. Is there any formula to compute 3 degree zones?
In general there is 6 degree longitude band in UTM
I don't know about 3 degree band

The zone region N or S depends upon latitude
For example
if your place have lat=23.435764° N then zone will be N
and if your place have lat=13.634767° S then zone will be S
C=28S and D=55N

Bcz our earth is divided by 360° longitude. And each 6° region is selected as UTM ZONE. Therefore total zone is 60 Nos.
180°W to 174°W is taken as 1st zone.
Like this 6°W to 0° will be 30th Zone.
Now for 0°E to 6°E zone should be 31.
Now take any figure between 6°E to 12°E and divide it by 6 and add 31
You will get the intiger 32
So your zone will be 32

but sir as per Google Earth my utm zone is showing 43P
P means the latitude division. Which denoted as 'C', D, E , etc. (Omitting I and O) from latitude 84° South to North 84° in every 8° interval. For better understanding search Wikipedia with search term "UTM Coordinate System"
