    I'm a second semester industrial electrician student and your panel wiring looks better than my instructors example. I learned a lot during this vid as I recently purchased some land with the goal of building and wiring my own home. Thank you and looking forward to the next vid.

    Fellow professional electrician here, always nice to see professional electrical work (there are so many DIY hacks on TH-cam). Your panel looks great, just goes to show that with a few cable ties a skilled professional can do a very neat job very quickly. Like many pro's I agree with your comment on AFCI's. Love your videos, you guys are great.

    Great work; but I had to check out what you meant at the beginning with A and B Phase. I must say I am in the UK where the description would not make sense; but I now understand the US connection. For any other curious Brits that may be watching, the input at 240V is all the same phase (as in the sinusoidal A.C. from the public utility transformer). In the US this supply has a transformer (I guess in the breaker box?) whose output is centre tapped to ground and whose extreme ends are ungrounded therefore at 120V each. It is these two separate 120V supplies that Josh takes care to balance - one is supply A the other supply B.

    Arc faults interrupters/breakers were originally to protect against electric blankets, mattress pads, water bed heaters, and other devices that could arc internally and cause a fire. As with most ideas, once it is used for the intended purpose, they expand the purpose.
    Josh, You need a T Post pounder. It can work for a ground rod. You will probably have a good use for one on your farm/homestead.

    As soon as I saw him cutting the 10/2 wire for the generator I came to the comments to see if any of the Safety Sallies commented on him cutting the sheathing with a razor knife across his hand(every day occurrence in our world)... does not appear so! Good work guys! Enjoying the build!

      @williamj.stilianessis1851 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonathanperry3792 Only bad if you are making a deep cut, he is scoring the casing. He could run the blade across his hand and only receive what would amount to a paper cut. Granted, it might be safer to show him with a cut resistant glove or not doing the pass over. Clearly this is not his first time making the score marks.

    Very good job wiring the main breaker panel. Very neat and professional looking. You should give "Pure Living for Life" some pointers. You must have wired panel boxes mucho times before. Thanks for all your explanations. You made it look simple. I doubt if it is. I think really building houses and installing all the infrastructure materials is really like working a gigantic jigsaw puzzle. There are so many resources on youtube today. Taking it nice and slow and thinking through all the procedures makes it appear less complicated. I think it can be overwhelming if you try to take on too much at one time. I have enjoyed all your videos so far. Keep up the good work. Your family are all amazing.

    Terrific, straight forward 'Show-n-Tell'!👏👍
    I empathize with you and your ground rod effort.
    After a 2011 tornado dropped a 140 yr.old tree on half of my home and the power main box torn off and away from the side of my house, I did away with the old and started from scratch from installing a power pole (secured to house overhang) and ground rod to adding second power main breaker box inside. Originally my grandparents home built in early 1954, you can imagine the type of wiring, old black clothe wrapped ... scary, especially seeing how the electrician wired into the old wiring when my grandparents had new kitchen/den addition built on in 1968. I don't know what kept our house from burning down!!
    Needless to say, I went overboard with insuring I was putting in the safest, everything new, exceeding codes where possible, electrical system I could. Passed with flying colors.
    Located in SE. OK. honeycombed with now buried coal mine shafts, the end of one which, come to find out, runs next to my home as does the very thick-many feet long and wide sheets of solid stone setting from 1'-2' below ground surface right where one of my new 8' ground rods had to go. I broke off two sledge hammer heads trying to break through the stone plate. Finally dug out a large area, found a crack in the stone plate and with my trusty little hand sledge type hammer and a crow bar spent near two days driving down the new rod. The second rod set away was much easier to get further down before hitting the top stone of the shaft causing the rod to feel as though it curved the last foot to 1-1/2'.
