It takes incredible guts to do electrical work in front of a million armchair experts. Really appreciate your effort, which is greater than 99.9% of the populace.
People need to keep in mind, not to blindly follow the video and to check local building codes. While everything is likely fine where they are, the wiring would fail inspection here. [Just at the first box: more then one wire under a staple, no service loop at the box, wire not secured to the box]
What fantastic roll models you guys are for your children. You are raising very sweet and very good children. They will make very competent and I'm sure positive roll models for their children.
you guys are like my new "addiction" I just can't stop myself from watching you. I think your channel is one of the better channels in youtube, I really enjoy watching you guys work together and "feeding" off of each other's knowledge and energy, the way "she" helps out and how hard "she" works is a breath of fresh air. I wish you guys a very long, joy-filled and productive life together. Best wishes.
“If you don’t enjoy your work, find something else to do”. You two really enjoy working together and thats rare. 😄 House is really coming along. Merry Christmas to you all. 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dear Josh, You are a perfectionist with everything you and Erin do. I meant to tell you that I can tell you are an electrician by trade and a good one like I was at one time. John
Only found your channel few weeks ago looking for decking ideas, now I’m addicted and I’ve gone back in time to binge on all your other videos.! Great channel it will be a shame for all of us when all this is finished 😆👍🇦🇺
I literally wired a loft in my warehouse the day before I watched this. I did it based on the knowledge I had from doing this a few times before-by no means a pro. Was pleased to see I did it 100% as you did!
I see sinks and a shower unit coming down the chimney in a few days lol. The dedication and commitment you both have is an inspiration, especially with you both having day jobs! Merry Christmas to you both and your wonderful children.
Don't feel bad Josh my friends call me an energized bunny too LOL LOL, that just means we get ER done, and your wife is amazing very smart and talented
Not just the stripping. Hearing him speak about what he was doing, he had a very confident and knowledgeable tone as he rattled off terminology I only half understood. At the same time his hands seemed to automatically know what to do cutting, twisting, and splicing.
I love the way you 2 work together and enjoy each others company while building this house. it is truly inspiring to see you 2 working so well together.
Wow you guys are fantastic! Such an inspiration. Josh you really know your way around wires. Its just about Christmas and I guess it will be cold where you are. Where I live in Australia it will be about 100 degrees or 37 degrees centigrade on Christmas day. A real contrast eh? I wish you and your beautiful family all the best for the season and look forward to sharing more of this wonderful journey with you. Cheers and best wishes.
What you lack as a timber faller, you more than make up for as an electrician !! Excellent vid !!! I too noticed how well you put a pair of lineman's pliers to work !!! I'm very much looking fwd to your panel and solar vids. Haven't gotten to them yet. My wife will also be watching this channel as we will be building our off grid home this summer . Thanks again !
Thank you for the good video. I really enjoy the music and learning some practical tips. And I have to say your wife is sooooo pretty. You two compliment each other so well.
Great team, I said a few days ago I'd love to see more ladies doing building etc, like men ladies have incredible talents, thank you so much, this granddad is smiling with joy, 👍✅❤️
Another great video due to team work. Heck ya she can make it as an electrician. You both can do anything you set out to do if you work at it. Merry Christmas to your family.
I have to say I am terribly impressed.. you two are living the dream - don't lose each other and you will be set! I have done the opposite and driven off my lady (unfortunately) and I live in CA (also unfortunately) But I stand by my decisions and my dreams. Here, you can't touch a home for less than a quarter mil.. I am so not into that.. you two are an inspiration. I know you don't live here and I can't get around the local building restrictions... I also already knew how to build it. But thank you both for showing that it can be done...
I really enjoy your channel. You do a great job of making it interesting. I am a electrician that studied in the England and I am now an electrical contractor in Australia. It’s always interesting to see how electrical work is done in other countries. Those lights look expensive. And I was wondering how you would replace one if it broke. In Aus we run the cable and fit-off a lighting socket outlet at each lighting point. Mark the floor up. Then Gyprock (Sheetrock). Then use a lazer to mark up the ceiling. Use a 90mm holesaw to cut the downlight hole in the Sheetrock. Stick your hand in the hole and pull out the socket outlet point. Then we plug in a $12 LED recessed downlight. And we are done. Light are super easy to replace if the stop working. The have spring clips that hold them into the ceiling. We also don’t use wall switch back boxes in stud walls . (In the UK do). We run the cable down the wall. Mark up the floor. Sheet the wall. The cut the wall in the place you want. The switch get fitted off and then screwed on via a c-clip that hooks onto the Sheetrock. BTW. Our neutral is Black. And White is Active (Hot) wire. Most often we use Red for the (hot) wire color though. We do live “Down-Under however. Looking forward to the finished house. Good luck.
It is nice to see you both as a team. Both of you seem to be very good working together. Hope the togetherness continues for many many years to come. Happy New year!!!! 2019
Wow Josh !!!!! You use both hands to do your work !!!! That is a very good habit to have , in case you injure your dominant hand !!!! Always a pleasure to watch.....Merry Christmas to your whole family !
Once again you have amazed me with your skills and great job of laying it out for us to understand. You are teaching me such valuable skills and I'm so thankful and happy you are sharing your life with me. Lots of love and God's blessings to you! 😊💕
Great job Guys. Enjoy watching a man good at his trade, as soon as I seen you making up your first box I knew you were an electrician.👍 Smart going with propane on those items. Don’t forget ext lights. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year‼️👍🎄 Vinny 🇺🇸
Love ur video, learned a lot. Instead of getting 25 acres here in Arkansas, i added and now at 79 acres. If u guys dnt post b4 Christmas and new years, merry Christmas and may God bless u thru the new year.
It's nice to see someone use a systematic installation for wiring too many people out there doing it wrong but you did it right. I like what I saw. Keep up the good work. By the way I subbed
I think I'm going to say Josh of all trades now instead of jack of all trades...seriously guys I can only imagine how your kids are going to be when grown up knowing they can do anything cause mum and dad do...I'm showing your build to my daughter so she can see what sort of good bloke she needs in her life and the partnership she needs to have with her one day other half I have taught how to use power tools and she can start and use a lawnmower better than most males...love how yous laugh together and joke around you are an inspiration to many keep on being real...I am getting so excited for you all nearly move in time.
Observation/suggestion. You marked the end of each Romex run with a sharpie to identify the run. Then you cut that piece off. I know that I couldn't remember what is what. How about putting that marking above the J-Box so that it stays as a permanent record for future reference. You guys have the most courage and authenticity on the net. Keep up the great work and videos. I will miss them when you finish the build but I will watch the farming.
The assured touch of a person who knows what they are doing. I'm binge-ing your build as it's something I'd love to do myself. Excellent. I presume there's a reason you went with the A-frame design, can you point me to the relevant vid? Ta.
I come across your channel a few weeks ago and love it. The guts it takes and the work you've already done is awesome. Can't wait for more. Happy holidays to you all.
I know you are long way past this, but a small thing I do to save my back from bending over when I install receptacles low down, I put the wire into box, wire up receptacle, install receptacle into box, then I position the box where I want it and nail it to the stud. Much faster and less bending!!!
You should have hire him to do your electrical work Dutch. LOL Hope you and your family are feeling better. Let Jesse do the cooking for Christmas. I hear hay taste great with milk. LOL :-)
Been watching from the start of the building came across you by accident but now i cant wait till the next video comes of you guys just bounce off each other and i really enjoy watching you and just wanted to say keep up the good work god bless and a merry Christmas
Great video. You 2 are a great team. I've recently bought acreage in WV, near Elkins. My wife and I are planning on building there sometime in the future. Your videos inspire us to work for our dream.
You guys are so good in your house project and you are a lifting spirit for lots people ( in this crazy world) thank you million time, take care Merry Christmas and happy new year regards Robert from the blue mountains in NSW Australia
All us loyal subscribers want to wish you and your amazing family a happy holiday. love your Chanel. Stay healthy, happy and wise, see ya next year. Cheers..
just a suggestion. I would suggest that you insulate the ceiling below your loft to keep it from overheating above. can always cut in a floor register or two to control the temp on top. great videos Dave
Happy holidays from sunny South Africa. I really enjoy watching you guys. Our building methods differ substantially. Wood is too expensive. Mostly brick and mortar. A much longer process.
It takes incredible guts to do electrical work in front of a million armchair experts. Really appreciate your effort, which is greater than 99.9% of the populace.
He does it for a living so I kinda doubt he's intimidated by TH-cam armchair experts.
@@JCrook1028 Yo can tell by his use of Line's Men pliers vs a stripper and twister. As well as use of proper wire nuts.
Yep. No guts required. He knows this craft better than all the other crafts. He's in his comfort zone on this.
People need to keep in mind, not to blindly follow the video and to check local building codes.
While everything is likely fine where they are, the wiring would fail inspection here.

The humor between the two of you is quite refreshing and enjoyable. Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years!
You both are an inspiration. Thanks for videoing your progress.
Amazing how quickly you guys work together, especially when you have a deadline.
I literally wired a loft in my warehouse the day before I watched this. I did it based on the knowledge I had from doing this a few times before-by no means a pro. Was pleased to see I did it 100% as you did!

Don't feel bad Josh my friends call me an energized bunny too LOL LOL, that just means we get ER done, and your wife is amazing very smart and talented
This whole time I had wondered what field of construction he worked in. After seeing him strip wire, I immediately knew he was an electrician. Haha.
Not just the stripping. Hearing him speak about what he was doing, he had a very confident and knowledgeable tone as he rattled off terminology I only half understood. At the same time his hands seemed to automatically know what to do cutting, twisting, and splicing.
It really is a pleasure to watch a pro at his or her craft.
