😭
What a shame. Great musicians. Tony had that John Bonham sound on this album a lil bit .
Yy
bonzo…exactly…..
This band should have been huge. Both the Taylors are great, the drummer was fantastic and Palmer was a GREAT vocalist
They certainly were way more popular than the other Duran Duran side project, Arcadia. It’s just that it wasn’t intended to last beyond the one album.
Man, I miss the music from the 80's.
Not on your own, it was music, not the crap they call music nowadays !!!!!!
Your watching it here bro haha. But yes the 80s had great music.
80s. Best. Music. Ever.
Do you not own any music?
tOdAys mUsIC sUKs, i wAS bOrN iN tHE wRoNG gEnERaTION. SHut up, stop shitting on others for music taste, stop complaining and acting "quirky" when in reality all you and everyone else are just "deep" 15-year-olds who brag about liking old music. Yes, OTHER PEOPLE LIKE IT. You aren't the only one who likes the music you mumbling, bumbling basement dweller who feasts on your popped pimples.
This song's title demonstrates why is The Power Station. Another beautiful experiment we enjoyed during the 80's.
Electronic is another one
Big Tony Thompson Rock, Pop and R&B Drumming Icon... R.I.P.
Four cool cats doing what came naturally.
Robert Palmer was sitting next to John Taylor on a jet and when John played him a tune on his Walkman, Robert wrote the lyric to 'Communication' which John liked so much he invited him to sing on it.
One track became an album.
The coolest band of the mid 80's.
R.I.P Mr Palmer!!
Who is listening in 2022?
2024 ok?
Yep,,October 2024
Yeah I’d like to see you all blast this in public. Weirdos
I come back to this song every so often to remind me what good production and the clarity of being able to hear every instrument is like. Throw Palmer's vocals on top and this song has magic
I miss Robert Palmer very much!
Just not right that his voice isn't in this world anymore.
かっこよかったヨネ!
Fuckin robert palmer is square as shit!
Saw him on one of his last tours in '02?!
Same
some guys are way before their time. that would be Robert Palmer.
I'm still listening in 2024
RIP Robert Palmer
I was in Trader Joe's and they were playing this in the store. I love John's super heavy bass! Really powerful with Tony's drums! The line director lady was grooving on it!
Best freaking intro of any rock song
Tend to agree. Nothing is special , but everything is very cool. The hypnotic intro implies me this tune was made out of jam sessions.
IIRC they used an AMS 1580 on the room mics to pitch the drums down an octave and mixed them with the natural drums.
I saw them on their first us tour,Fantastic live show
What a great information about the characteristic sounds of drums……! (Although I don't know very much of record ing devices…)
cool,thanks for that info
Still pure gold straight out of the decade of my teens. The reverend Palmer at his best.
I'm 41. I heard this song a lot when i was a kid, but i don't think I ever saw the video before.
One of the best bands of the 80s.such power . R.I.P Mr Palmer. Your vocals were outstanding and and a technician of accenting the beat.
John Taylor really shows how really incredible he is on that bass in this song.
I totally agree I'm from the 80s as well it was the best time you said it like it is, no regrets ever!
One of the best songs of the 80's hands down - catchy, funky & Tony Thompson damn...
I've been a Robert Palmer fan for over 40 years and still am.
Listening in 2022! Robert Palmer had a great voice! RIP.
So sad that he passed so soon. He was an original!
Smooooth👌🏼
Listening in 2023.
Palmer and Thompson and Edwards the ever expanding Heavenly Choir list over the years forming merging they are.Edwards and Thompson in Chic funky styles and grooves could easy be a Supergroup and Thompson takes it lots of notches up on this with Power station equal impressive
He played the hell out them drums 😩😩
Has anyone else noticed that the “standing worm” was pretty much the signature dance move from the mid-80s? I remember trying to do that when I was 14; I’m sure I looked like a doofus doing it.
Love, love, LOVE Robert Palmer. He oozed class.
Loving the 1980s music that will never die!, the cool colors of neon pink, purple, and blue..memorable!
